  1. Well, since you guys have been like family since I found this site in 2006... I'm happy to announce that (upon returning from abroad), I've accepted a position as a teacher in the Wayzata school district. So, if there are any Trojans in the house, let me know what I need to know!

  5. This. At some point you have to rip the band-aid off and as long as Gates is on the field, he's going to be Rivers' primary or secondary read just out of sheer habit. And, not that there should really be huge doubts about Henry, but better to pull that band-aid off now than wait until he's in a contract year in 2019.

  6. We had a good draft. I could see myself being willing to bump my preseason prediction to 2 wins, but want to make sure I don't get caught in the moment.

  7. He is absolutely not a dark horse to start. I'm sorry, but if Chad Kelly were half as good as everyone thinks, he wouldn't have been the last pick in the draft. Plain and simple. People are willing to overlook nearly everything about a QB in order to get a competent starter. That Kelly fell this far says something about his skill set. Could he eventually grow into something? Sure. But this is, once again, taking on a life of it's own from Broncos fans. It's absolutely wild.

  11. OK, you only want him to learn one position. Fair enough. How about we make that one position the position where his competition is very old (Newman) or not very good (Alexander) instead of the position where his competition is in its prime and playing really well (Rhodes, Waynes). I don't think it matters too much where a corner played before, it's not like Zimmer isn't going to break down all their old habits anyway. Hughes should be able to become a very good slot corner. They need a slot corner. I hope they teach him the position. He doesn't have to play much as a rookie,

  12. It seems they were planning to take Ragnow but he went earlier. I wouldn't have wanted them to trade up in the 1st. At 30, Corbett, Daniels if he's a guard (Bears are playing him at guard), Williams if he's a guard (Cowboys are playing him at guard) all were there and would've been good picks. I would've been very happy with Williams, he's excellent. I think Hernandez would've been a great pick -- an instant upgrade on either Easton or Remmers at guard -- but maybe they don't see him as a scheme fit. It's not crazy that they didn't take the 5th best guard (counting Nelson, Ragnow,

  18. It’s an A- for me (dawg). Day One: B+ I like the player a whole lot, just wonder if we could have gotten him a little lower and picked up something in the process. Chargers probably would have taken him though, so maybe not. Also would have absolutely strongly considered the NO deal. NT isn’t a premium position, but it’s a huge position of need and he’s a good scheme fit, so that’s solid. I’m not worried about the player at all. NT is far more about technique and want-to than it is about measurables, and he’s great on both of those. I’m not really sure why there’s concern about

  20. They don't need 5 safeties, they usually keep 4. They don't rotate, so they just need 2 backups (who also play special teams). A 5th safety wouldn't dress for games. Sherels is gone if Hill makes the team. Might survive otherwise but I think it's time to move on. Don't see the point of taking a plus quality outside CB in Hill and making him a backup FS. The same anxiety about corner depth we had this offseason would show up again in 2019 -- Waynes and Alexander heading into contract years, Newman retiring with his Super Bowl ring... Keep Hill at corner. If he stays clean, the

  21. I had Baker as my number 14th overall rated player in the draft, but Darnold and Rosen as 1 and 2, respectively... So... I liked Baker Mayfield a tremendous amount. Again, we disagree as the Vast majority of NFL throws are based on anticipation throws, throwing a WR open, back shoulder or throws put away from the defender based on anticipation and throwing instincts in a tight window. Darnold is miles ahead in this category compared to Baker... I've watched all the games the last 2 years of Baker.... I can't find more than maybe 12 throws like that.. when with Darnold there's 41.. an

  22. Partly it's about this year -- they need to replace Berger, who was easily their best OL in 2016 and 2017. Giving Berger's snaps to Hill/O'Neill (Remmers at RG), or to Compton/Isidora/etc (Remmers at RT) is a downgrade from what they had last year. The 2017 OL was a relative weakness that was made to look better than it might have otherwise thanks to Keenum's pocket presence. They also had the luxury of a lot of favourable game scripts, often playing with a 2-3 score lead for most of the last 2-3 quarters. When they had to throw to catch up (Steelers game, Panthers game, NFCCG), they cou

  27. Here's what Peter King wrote about Cleveland taking CB Denzel Ward over DE Chubb. My question to Dorsey on Friday morning: “If we gave Gregg Williams sodium pentathol right now, who would he have said he wanted with the fourth pick—Denzel Ward or Bradley Chubb?” Dorsey pulled out his cell phone and rang Williams. I asked him the question. Williams: “Ward. The reason is our need for a press cover cornerback. Denzel probably plays that position as well as anyone I’ve seen in college football in some time. We probably play the most press of any team in the league. There’s another reason. I’v

No he isn't the blocker Nix is but Nix isn't the dynamic player Samuels is. Keep Nix if you want. I know some of us may view Frenchy as a young energy guy. He's 27. Cut him. Again.

  32. It’s not trust, so much as it is having a QB who’s going to read the entire field before the snap, instead of just half, and having a QB who will look at his backside reads while going through progression. Its hard to praise a receiver when there is such little production, but when you watch the coach’s tape, Treadwell, and Wright, were not only open a good amount of time, but they were also drawing very favorable matchups in coverage. Keenum missed this far too often because he wasn’t asked to make that difficult of presnap reads, or go through his progressions that deep. Cousins is a

  34. Yea, Kelly is a beast. He was a victim of circumstance, like Todd Gurley in 2016. Tennessee's play-calling was terrible, their offense lacked talent outside of him, and his OL sucked in the running game. He was constantly breaking tackles in the backfield. Check out his 2016 rushing numbers when compared to Alvin Kamara: Kelly - 98 rushes, 630 rushing yards, 6.4 YPC, and 5 rushing TDs Kamara - 103 rushes, 596 rushing yards, 5.8 YPC, and 9 rushing TDs Kamara is a better player than Kelly (and a better athlete), but Kelly runs angry, has insane contact balance, and very underrated

  35. I'm a lifelong DC fanboy that started watching the MCU both confident and hopeful that DC would phenomenally outdo it, and I thought Infinity War was spectacular. When the overwhelming majority likes something, kind of regardless of background/experience, the fan boy claim loses all clout. And I want to say, there are criticisms to be had, but most of them in your post were just non-sense points that make it seem like you didn't pay attention during the movie. I do think there are valid complaints to be had about the Spidey/Strange/IM/GoTG fight versus Thanos on Titan, for instance. The seeing

  36. Iowa fan here. I was a bit skeptical about Jackson at 14 due to his backpedal (that is brutal right now) but man, the kid can ball. At 45? Please. Iowa boys dont train for the 40, FWIW, because it causes so much stress on the hamstrings. They only time 10 yard splits. I never once questioned his play speed. He's so good at stacking receivers on the sideline and playing the ball that he's a huge threat to go deep against. Who else would have made sense there? People are talking about King like he's an established vet and a sure thing. He showed some real promise, but so did both

  37. Love this pick. I love having a draft strategy and this was one last piece of it that makes the other picks look better. This guy owns as a lead blocker. He's awesome. Oddly enough I watched a bit of him and was telling a buddy that I really hope we get this guy and decide to fully commit to the run game so I love love this pick.

  44. I watched the same videos and had similar thoughts. He's really, really good at defending the edge in pass protection. There's a couple of plays where the edge rusher jumps the snap but O'Neill gets back so fast that he immediately catches up to him. He's a very good downfield blocker on screens and outside run plays. He's an only OK run blocker otherwise, doesn't really push people around. There was one play where he lined up as a H-back, took a jet sweep and tried to throw a pass. Crazy. I saw the moments where he had trouble anchoring, but they didn't look as bad to

  45. I wholeheartedly disagree with this. It's not a luxury pick because there isnt a single guy you can rely on in the group prior. Hill is run down and might not even make the roster, Rex was in and out of the lineup due to injury in his first NFL season with a solid role on offense, White is viewed almost purely as a 3rd down passing back, and Mikey G was buried in the doghouse almost all last season. Michel is Lewis 2.0 IMO, and give the Partiots running game legitimacy in a season with less passing weapons and a yet older Brady. Start moving to a run first approach now as Brady gets older to r
