  1. God forbid we have a single damn thread on this forum that doesn't involve a bunch of randos demanding we spank off Brady yet again. Nobody else is allowed to be amazing. It's why ranking individual players based on purely team based accomplishments is stupid. It's stupid in Baseball, it's stupid in Basketball, and it's stupid in the NFL. You can't rank QB's, and you shouldn't, rankings are dumb. They're the most lazy sports "analysis" you could possibly give.

  2. I'm not going to disparage the dead, but let's face it, that family brought that outcome on themselves. There should be ZERO sympathy for the family in terms of the Chargers having to move. They did that all on their own. My sympathies go to the family for losing a loved one. That's where the sympathy starts, and ends.

  3. eagles18 with the season saving thread. Are we really just gonna give up, when we have more of these celebrations to do? And this Also this ‘This Thursday we are facing a Giants team who’s best passer is Odell “ I don’t know why we can’t throw 20 yards” Beckham. Their running back is a stud and that’s pretty much it. Eli is gonna Eli unless Jalen Mills lets Schwartz sleep in the master bedroom tonight, if that’s the case then fully expect a career day from the lesser Manning brother, not named Cooper... also this A lot has been said about

  4. Face it fans, there is an upside and a downside to a player like Aaron Rodgers. The plus side is he can, and usually does as the season goes on, get hot and take a team farther than the rest of the roster should be able to go. If he gets hot you can win just about any game. The downside is that you are always picking at the end of the round in the draft, at a much lower position than a team with a given roster would pick. On top of that, you give up anywhere from 3 to 10 million in cap space that could go for free agents. Makes it hard to load a roster. Don't believe me, look

  7. Yeah. We get it. Brady is good. Now will you Patriots fans please move on? Jesus. Do you guys really need to bring up Brady in every single thread about a QB?

I had the honor of going to his home and had the chance to sit down and just talk about life with him and his wife, Viola, who became the first black judge in my home county. He gifted me a New York Times obituary commemorating Bill Willis' legacy, who had passed away the week before I met Mr. Taliaferro. Willis was signed by Paul Brown even though the NFL stil

  11. To all those saying that bulk stats aren't impressive: First of all, you're wrong. Maintaining health and productivity long enough leads to breaking bulk passing records. Longevity matters. Bulk passing stats matter. Second, Brees isn't just a stat-padding QB. He also has the 4th best QB rating in history and the 4th highest net yards per pass attempt in history (which is an individual stat with one of the highest correlative factors to winning in today's NFL). So he is one of the greatest QBs in terms of both bulk and efficiency passing stats. While some of those stats are undoubted

  12. Playoff games- Drew Brees has over a 100 QB rating, a 5.4% touchdown percentage on his passes, just a 1.4% interception percentage, 7.8 yards per attempt, 323 passing yards per game, 11.9 yards gained per pass completion, 3.9% sacks taken on dropbacks, a 65.9% completion percentage. What do all of these numbers have in common? They are all better than Tom Brady's playoff rates for the same statistics. I'm not even trying to argue Brees over Brady, but this is just absurd that there is this notion that Brees is at fault for his team not winning. He has had so many incredible performances g

  13. Yeesh. Our fan bases sensitivity is showing big time. Brees is a great dude who set a great record and Pats fans flood in here with sarcastic remarks about him being better than Brady...Just relax and let the dude enjoy his accolades.

  16. Just wanted to pop over from Browns nation to offer our congratulations to Drew and the Saints. What a tremendous career accomplishment. And I cannot think of a better scenario for this to have happened. Drew Brees is New Orleans and New Orleans is Drew Brees. Breaking such a once thought unattainable record at home was awesome for the fans to have shared this with their leader. Whenever Drew does finally decide he no longer wants to play, I'll start the clock for five years hence - and we will see all of you and Drew down the road in Canton, Ohio.

  17. I'm sorry, but anyone calling Drew Brees a stat padder is a complete idiot and has no business being taken seriously by anyone on here. It's especially funny that it's a Patriots fan calling him a stat padder seeing as how Brady has padded his stats a ton over the years. Not knocking him for it... Just pointing out the laughable hypocrisy. I do agree that bulk yardage in passing isn't all that impressive anymore... But how about we look at Drew Brees other stats... Not just bulk stats, but efficiency metrics as well. Brees absolutely has an argument for being in the top five of all

  20. The starters listed is your base that you work out of. If you explain sub packages with players coming in off your bench in your write-up, great. To me, it does matter if you send out non nickel defense against a team that starts 4 wide every week. Or conversely send out a dime against a team that runs a 6 man Oline power running attack every week. Playing 3D chess every week to bring a lineup that accounts for every possible lineup isn't realistic either. There is a pleasant medium that a reasonable voter should find acceptable.

  22. i dont know if height is irrelevant. its prob not as relevant as we think though, but correlates to measurements that are impossible to take that will provide insight as to the players capabilities i.e. height of a wr should prob correlate to catch radius, but if the WR only body catches it doesnt really matter height of a qb should correlate to being able to see over your line but realistically we've seen brandon weeden and derek anderson lead the league in tipped passes due to shortarming/inability to find the throwing lanes imperfect stat, but it prob has *some* merit

  25. Yes to Conley. Maybe Parker could be good but he hasn't really shown much since coming into the league. That being said if he can catch a Baker fastball then by all means bring him in. We need sure handed receivers.

  26. I would revise that to say that they've literally, as an organization, squandered the most enviable quarterback situation of any franchise in the last 30 years. To have back to back HOF QBs and only 2 trophies, which bear their most famous coach's name, to show for it should be considered a high crime and misdemeanor and worthy of relegation to the CFL.

  27. VJ's comments yesterday: "We don’t go into the game counting runs,” Joseph said. “We actually take what they give us. So if they’re playing single-high defense against our receivers, that’s the time to throw the football. We can’t run the ball into a loaded box all game, especially when you’re down by that many points. That dictates kind of how the play calls are handled. Obviously when they’re playing shell, they’re playing Cover 2, we hand the ball off, we get 5.6 a carry and that’s good football also. But you can’t continue to run the ball, get 1 yard, now you’re second-and

  29. Yeah, that's right, let's use W/L without taking into account defenses, which Brees had for 3 years running the worst defense in NFL history at the time, not to mention a worse receiving core than the "GOAT". Brady has been nothing but a god at QB, but Brees is right there with him.

  35. Right now? No, you don't. That's kind of like saying if someone wanted to do a blockbuster trade for Trubisky, you line up and sign it off. No. And NO. The Bears have no replacement for Howard in-house. None. They'd be taking a huge risk with their playoff chances if they dealt him.

  37. He's on pace for 4000+ 32 TDs and 3 picks. Has he been his usual GOAT self all season? No he pretty much was for just 2 Qs in Chicago, but he's been closer to the best QB in the league than "absolute horse...." He's played well enough to have us 5-0. The refs killed us in Minny, the defense and drops killed us in Washington and the turnovers and missed kicks in Det. Also penalties have killed us all 5 weeks. Aaron needs to be better, but you're calling him out for not being the best QB ever, by absolutely no means has he played bad by Joe Blow NFL QB standards.

  40. Yeah I just don't see it. With our tough schedule, 10-6 was always going to be premised on not dropping winnable games, but through 5 weeks we've yet to show we have that ability to actually build up a head of steam and plow through those trap games. The way things have gone, does anyone expect us to sweep our 3 divisional home games? There's at least 1 loss there, then we've got the entire NFC South gauntlet to deal with (probably underdogs in 3 of those games given Atlanta will be on the road), a really good Kansas City team, and a tricky trip out west to play the Chargers. I'd g

  41. ManninHGH is not even in the conversation. He won 2 Super Bowls on welfare 3 TDs to 7 picks and barely able to throw the forward pass He also had that pre-Denver recovery by illegal drugs and then mafia style witness intimidation to cover it up. What's not to love? If you love Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds then you gotta love you some 5-head. That joke played in 4 Super Bowls and his teams netted 12 points per game in those 4 games (his offense minus his pick sixes and safeties) His pathetic play in those games turned out to be a tribute to Brady's number.

  42. Congrats to Brees! Just think about this, had the Dolphins medical gave the ok for the Dolphins to sign Brees back in 2006 he wouldve been with Nick Saban and the Dolphins and no telling how things wouldve turned out. Like so many variables factored in. Its funny because Saints fans love Brees and what he has done for the Saints. On the other hand, they dont like the fact the Saban left the Dolphins after it was an epic fail with Culpepper and took the Alabama job and now they are a juggernaut and LSU seems to be hurt by it in the SEC. So again, Brees not signing with the Dolphins effecte

  43. Guys, I think it's pretty obvious when I say worse, it's not one game. I'm pretty confident when he was 63% for the season and had all his money turned into bonuses basically and then went 89%, he rebounded well. No? He had the lowest percentage that year. IDK what his worst period was and I know he never missed 5 kicks in one game, obviously, but even I was going, CUT THIS POS at one point. And I never do that. I never thought it was possible to come back from that mentally, but he did. He'll probably have some lingering yips from this though, at least in his head, hopefully they don't manife
