  2. I think much of it comes from where things stood earlier in the year. If you think back to like the mid-point of the season, the Cowboys looked like a force in the NFC, the Rams still looked playoff bound, the Panthers had a winning record, even the Lions were in pretty solid shape at 3-4-1. In addition to all the teams that still look good being good (49ers, Seahawks, Packers, Saints, Vikings.) So it looked like you had 6 or 7 top level teams in the NFC, along with some competitive ones in Carolina and Detroit, and Arizona looked on the rise around that point. At the same time in the AFC, Lamar had had a very human stretch against KC, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. KC and Pittsburgh were starting backups. The Titans didn't even look competent, let alone threatening. And no one really trusted Buffalo. So it looked like the Pats and then a couple passable teams in Baltimore, Houston, and Indy. Things have since very heavily swung in the AFC's favor. Dallas, Carolina, and Detroit all tanked. Russell Wilson has dropped off a bit while Jackson has risen to superstar status. Mahomes is back and healthy and the Chiefs have something resembling a defense. Tannehill rejuvenated the Titans. Buffalo has earned some more permanent respect. I think it's just a case of opinions being slightly behind and slow to readjust. Because early in the year, the NFC absolutely did look superior. Teams have just trended in opposite directions.

  3. Zimmer has turned into a snowflake. Cousins is a MNF cupcake. Stefanski couldn’t out-scheme a Pop Warner coach. My wife hates me. My kids resent me. My job sucks. This beer is going to taste really good.

  4. Mike McCarthy with the terrible clock management again. So glad we know that's not Aaron Rodgers.

  6. Is your issue that he's not being unfairly criticized as much as other players? That's not an issue. Other QBs getting criticized every time they have a sub par game is the issue. Watson's over 4200 total yards and 33 TDs with a division title (once again) locked up 15 games in. I don't see what there is to complain about.

  8. Bad QBs don’t go 26-30 vs a good defense, missing his two best players.

  9. Carr played well against a bad team. It's his inability to beat good teams that is the problem. He's not consistent week to week. Next week is another game that matters, potentially cold weather game. Can he rise to the occasion? That's been the problem. Meaningful game, cold weather. This is where he's struggled.

  11. Nothing of what you mentioned is an issue with Watson. His problems lie in recognizing the blitz early, holding on to the ball too long because he's always trying to make a play and having to commandeer O'Brien's ridiculous offensive scheme. All that can be worked on but his skillset, arm strength and QB acumen is definitely not the problem

  12. I want to live in a world where no one asks for a flag on a play like that.

  13. My only critisism of Watson is that he is going to get himself killed because he has no idea how to avoid contact. Ive never seen a player that takes more unnecessary hits than he does because hes always trying to make a play happen.

  16. I get wanting to be aggressive, but he continually goes too far, especially with our offense being hot garbage most of the year. Not running it and letting the clock run down at the half was frustrated 9 year old playing Madden level dumb, as his need to take the ball to start the game. He just seems to have these moments, REPEATEDLY, where he’s unable to take the draw and he continues to use “aggression” as his mask for stupidity.

  17. You could do the same calculation for the AFC. The top 5 teams have 19 losses instead of 17. 9 of those losses came against each other. So those 5 teams are 47-10 against the rest of the league. Winning percentage of .825. Hey, that's like 5 13-3 teams in the same conference! Woah! After tonight, the top 5 AFC teams will have one win less than the top 5 NFC teams. The only thing you put in those post that doesn't apply basically identically in both conferences is the bit about Minnesota potentially being a 6 seed. But that's only because the NFC is going to have an 8-8 or 9-7 #4 seed, with one crap division, while the AFC's talent is more evenly spread out in each division, meaning the mediocre team is going to just get the #6 seed.

  18. Julio eclipsed 12,000 yards today and is the fastest WR to ever do it. Not his best season ever but he is still doing good work and representing the Falcons well

  25. Draft more DL in one of the first two rounds. This game was won by the DL and we need to make sure that we get rotation so they don't burn out.

  28. KPJ just dominated that 4th quarter. Only a matter of time before he’s starting at the 3 imo. Kid is just oozing with potential on both ends. Great game from Garland too, he had some jaw dropping plays. Give him some time guys, remember what we thought about Sexton at this point last year. You can tell he is starting to look a little more comfortable/natural/relaxed out there. That 2nd half was fun as hell to watch even though we tried our hardest to give it up at the end.

  32. Chandler Jones leads the NFL in forced fumbles (8) and sacks (19) with one game left. He's got 96 career sacks, the same amount JJ Watt has with one year less as a pro. Pretty impresive.

  34. Can you imagine if we had another legit threat, or two? I mean, it's enough with MT and Kamara, but then you throw Cook into the mix and we're seeing the defense spread thin. Get another legit WR in there, and look out!!

  37. "Daniel Jones had five passing touchdowns in the Giants' win over the Redskins. He is the fourth rookie since 1950 to throw five passing TDs in a single game, joining Deshaun Watson (2017), Jameis Winston(2015) and Matthew Stafford (2009). Jones also joins Stafford as the only rookies since at least 1950 with at least 300 passing yards and at least five passing TDs in a single game." Hmmmm....4th rookie since 1950 and all of them in the last 10 years ... it's almost as if the QB position is easier to play now than ever before. Like maybe it's really NOT that crazy Dak has managed an up and down career as a 4th rounder. Maybe starting QBs aren't that hard to find anymore. I'm not saying Dak sucks, but in this league I'm not clinging to every QB that flashes ability, and I'm not overpaying like it's impossible to find another Dak. There's Tannehills, Mariotas, and Winston's in Free Agency for a fraction of Daks price and our draft position is getting better by the week. Also cheap would be Burrow, Tua if healthy, Eason, Jake Fromm, Jalen Hurts can do Dak type stuff and so can Justin Herbert. And I'm not scared to risk playing a free agent QB or a rookie because the league wide QB Rating goes up every year. Rookies are finding success more now than ever. And whoever got the reins would benefit from a pretty good OL and RB. from 2016: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/14609505/an-average-nfl-quarterback-now-stats-great-quarterbacks-years-achieve-nfl "2015 saw the league set records for completions, attempts, completion percentage, passing yards and passing touchdowns while simultaneously posting the lowest interception rate in league history. Look at the players who have come up in the 2015 rankings as an "average" quarterback: Stafford. Cousins. Cutler. Carr. Teams treasure these guys as franchise quarterbacks, either in the process of developing or having fully realized their potential. And in some ways, they are, but how valuable is average? Is it worth Stafford's megadeal, which might have cost the Lions Ndamukong Suh and a realistic shot at managing their cap effectively? Cutler's deal, which the Bears would have dumped for free if they could have last offseason? Or the deal Cousins is about to get from Washington if the two sides can come to terms? What seemed excellent even 20 years ago is mere competence today." The Dark ages aren't really a thing anymore. Teams can plug UDFAs and 4th rounders in at QB and barely miss a beat for 15 years. The Dark ages after Romo lasted exactly 1 year, and Daks streaky career doesn't look so special with everyone else's rookie breaking records and winning MVPs.
