@Matts4313 remember in the "fix my team" post where I said your team's problems were likely already fixed? With this coaching staff, I'd say it's time to shed the "likely" tag. I'd be genuinely shocked if the Cowboys don't look much better next season. Jason Garrett stuck around a long time, but one of his biggest flaws, imo, is that he knew he had tremendous job security and never really had to learn from his mistakes. It was his first HC job, regardless of how long he kept it, and I think some bad habits probably never got their due diligence. McCarthy, Nolan, and Tomsula al8 points

I’m on the “Team not Baltimore” train. This time of year is basically about rooting against a specific team.8 points

I don’t know why anyone would be surprised that they’re confident. If I was a fan of a team that’s on a 12-game winning streak, led the league in scoring and ranked third in scoring defense, had the MVP at QB and was coming off of three weeks of rest to play a 9-7 team, I’d also feel pretty great about my chances.7 points

Is this supposed to be evidence that this game is going to be close? If so, I don't really see how these stats are relevant. History has nothing to do with the 2019 Ravens and Titans.5 points

I like McDaniels, but the idea of brining your own personnel guy I’m not as keen on. I get the “why”, but the Pats haven’t drafted well in a long time.4 points

So, if Alexander is an upgrade over Greenlaw, and Greenlaw is an upgrade over Aziz, then we're upgrading two positions. Add the return of Ford and Tartt, and we have this set up for the return of the dominating defense we had early on. Hopefully they all seize this opportunity to show the rest of the NFL how good they can be.4 points

I'm not saying Bradbury hasn't played poorly in some big spots (both Green Bay games stick out like a sore thumb), but at least one metric lists him as the Vikings most valuable player on offense. Brett Kollmann has gone on record multiple times in praise of Bradbury and has gone so far to say he is a Jason Kelce clone, which would mean he is contending for the best zone blocking center in the league. I firmly believe within the next two years, if he can remain healthy, Bradbury is gonna be someone the Vikings can trust to block 1 on 1 in most situations, which is exceptionally rare4 points

My initial impression was that the Giants made a terrible mistake with this hire, but after reflecting on it I think I like it a lot. Judge is someone that can grow with this team, but I think he’s someone that you bring within the organization to be your CEO type HC similar to a Harbaugh or Tomlin, not someone that’s a OC doubling as a HC. Those guys tend to last longer and build their own coaching trees. Great special teams coaches typically specialize in getting the most out of a merry band of young players and journeymen, they get guys to buy into their unit on the team. So its really a po4 points

I'm really hoping you dont become this years version of the Chiefs fan here in 2013 who was bragging about how we were destroying the Colts. You're just asking for it with the guarantees, man. It doesn't make you look smart if you're right, just incredibly dumb if you're wrong.4 points

Since it has been 12 years almost to the day since a ST coordinator got hired as a HC, I went and dug up the old FF thread from when John Harbaugh was hired. http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=190456 Nothing groundbreaking, sadly. We were having the same conversations then that we are now.4 points

I think I finally got what being a Cowboys fan is like. It’s a mom getting to their 3rd kid who doesn’t have a job or significant other and trying to come up with some kernel of reality to hype way up, but it’s just a constant state of being. Part of it is also lying to yourself too for self-soothing.... but deep down you know they are a disappointment. I’m so Sorry Matts3 points

God, imagine rooting for Russell Wilson. You can criticize Rodgers' play on the field all you want, but at least he's cool. At least he seems like a thoughtful, down-to-earth guy who you could sit down and have a drink with. Russell Wilson is the annoying 12-year-old next door who shouts from his windows that he's saving himself for marriage before tucking himself into bed at 6:30 pm so he can get an early start on his science project that isn't due for another three weeks.3 points

A lot of Dak stats came in garbage time. That’s a good barometer. Down by 21 with 15 mins to go. It even down 14 with 5-6 to play. It all depends.3 points

Does it mention how many were flat out dropped by the defender after hitting them dead in the chest? lol Cause i can remember several of those. The number is somewhere in the middle. He had a bad year. It's not indicative of his career at all. He had in the year that he got PAID so naturally people want to jump on it. I'm fine with it. He's going to bounce back next season and be an MVP candidate, but I'm also fine with people dumping on him for bad play. He deserves it this year.3 points

I hate to say this but I may be leaning towards Schwartz. I was in Detroit when he was coaching. He was fiery, Passionate, and hes very smart. He has been a HC before and taken the Lions to the playoffs. He just ran into an INCREDIBLY good saints team. I don't think he will be the home run someone like Josh could be, but I think he is the safer bet. All this to say I have NO idea. I trust DePodesta to make the right decision... Only hes not making the decision...Haslem is.... so were screwed...3 points

Goff is not a bad quarterback. He is in the top half of the league easily. When the Rams' offense is clicking, it's more like top 10. He provides the ability to get to a superbowl so I'm not sure what else people are asking for.3 points

Good discussion in this thread. It’s been mentioned numerous times that the Redskins have a number of holes to fill, which is somewhat true, just probably not as many holes as you’re thinking. What you may not know is that we have ~$50mm in cap space and could have much more pretty easily by making a few simple cuts like Josh Norman, Jordan Reed, Paul Richardson, and even trading Kerrigan. We could easily use free agency to fill the holes we have and just draft BPA. All that is to say, we would need a hell of an offer to even consider trading out of the #2 spot and missing o3 points

I think there's a slight shift in dictomy here - yeah, Judge is really young like McVay, but this feels more like an attempt to replicate what Tennessee did with Mike Vrabel. NYG is looking for a "leader of men" who can let the offensive and defensive coaches bring the creativity to the Xs and Os, who can let the players do what they do best, but gives both players and coaches the vision and mission that all can buy into. Vrabel is young, a former position coach and really didn't provide a wow factor with his Xs and Os knowledge (his one year as a DC saw a Texans defense go from top 5 to3 points

I think this time next season, everyone will be looking for their own Joe Judge - young, but a good "leader of men" type who will let their coordinators and position coaches handle the details, while directing the bigger picture with the GM.3 points

Totally agree. They didn't earn it when they cameback from 2 different 14 point deficits against the Ravens in divisional game. They didn't earn it when beat the snot out of the 2nd best team in the AFC to make the SB. They didn't earn it when they scored 14 unanswered points in the 4th Q to make (at the time) the biggest comback in Superbowl history, against an all time great defense, and the defending Superbowl champion. They didn't earn it when, despite the huge momentum of the luckiest play in SB history going against them, they stuffed the "best power back in the leagu3 points
