  1. Woo, after 26 house showings from 3 PM Friday until 5:30 PM on Sunday, we got two offers on our house, one that was what I was hoping for, and now it's just paperwork and inspection to getting our house ready for closing, and the small detail of finding our own house.

  4. Man, this legend just keeps growing. Soon Snyder will have shot and completed an entire trilogy in this filming, have 15 hours worth of material, and we never saw a single frame of it in Whedon's cut. We know thats not true because of the trailers and sneak peaks we received before Whedon's name was ever even mentioned.

  5. There isn't much the NFL can do. Everyone involved either needs to be aware of the potential consequences and agree to the risks, because being reasonable there is no way the league is going to be able to successfully prevent players and staff from getting the virus, or they need to forget about having the season and look forward to 2021. There is no reason to have the season if they are going to have to remove players every week if they test positive for the virus. The virus is going to spread, guaranteed. If the players want to play, then take the risk. If the risk isn't worth it, and if the only solution is to make players sit out, then the quality of the season is going to suck. And I'm not saying this to sound morbid or that players should just suit up and accept their fate. My point is everyone needs to be reasonable with themselves. If the games happen, it's almost certain at least one player or staff member on each team will get it. And then it's a chain reaction after that. What's the point of playing if we're at the point where when that happens, the only option is to start pulling players and coaches from the team? What happens when multiple starting quarterbacks get the virus? I'm torn on what I want to happen. Selfishly, I want the season to happen. But it's unreasonable to expect players to want to play against someone who has tested positive for the virus, while I think pulling players every week who test positive is going to lose to a disaster of a season. So I don't know.

  6. You are an American citizen with an American perspective. We haven’t cut ourselves off from the world and no, we don’t need to be telling Americans anything. What don’t you get? Toronto is in stage 1. The rest of Ontario entered stage two Friday. The prudent course of action is to wait and measure the impact of those steps. Just because states in your country have thrown caution to the wind by not following scientific advice doesn’t mean we have to follow. Most of our provinces have published plans that are being followed unlike some of your states that have disregarded medical advice and haven’t implemented effective stages with adequate contact tracing. Look, I get it. The restrictions are impacting YOU. I’m sorry that three months without visiting Canada has impacted your life But get over it. The border will likely be open by September once we have read that stage and the impact of the previous stages has been measured.

Seems like every off season there is a strong "They are about the right the ship, turn the corner, [INSERT NEW GM/COACH HERE] is changing the culture" narrative around here. This goes back to the old forum and early oughts.

  16. I just played quite possibly the weirdest game of Madden ever. Justin Herbert is having a great season. Prior to this game, he had a 68% completion percentage, 23 TDs, and 8 INTs. The game starts with an 80-yard draw play TD on a draw play. The next drive is also very promising, with Larry Fitzgerald single-handedly accumulating 48 receiving yards and James White adding another 12 or so rushing yards. Ultimately, Jordan Reed drops a pass on third down so we kick a field goal inside the 15. Still a very strong drive and this offense is on fire. After that, everything goes to heck. Justin Herbert completes 3 of 18 passes for the entire remainder of the game - and all three are on jet passes - handoffs that count toward passing instead of rushing. Otherwise, every single pass attempt gets an "inaccurate" result. And not just the ones that say inaccurate but are maybe a yard off target. I'm talking sailing a pass fifteen yards beyond a wide-open Jordan Reed. Or a completion to Chris Conley deep down the sideline... Out of bounds. And it's not like Justin Herbert is inaccurate. At this point, he's a 75 overall with 88 short accuracy, 84 medium, and 83 deep. And he's been stellar over the course of the whole season. After I've decided that I've had enough, I switch him out and put in Jordan Ta'Amu. By now, I'm already losing 10-31 in the second half. With Ta'Amu, it's the same exact story. Now, Jordan Ta'Amu isn't exactly the most accurate QB in the league. He just upgraded to a 54 this sim, and his accuracy ratings are 74 short, 72 medium, and 68 deep. So I'm not expecting him to be much better than a broken Justin Herbert who's completed exactly 0 real passes since his first drive throwing the football. But no. It's more of the same. And I'm doing EXTREMELY QB friendly passing concepts at this point. I'm running lots of meshes, Texas, slants, hitches, you name it. The passes are going straight out of bounds for four plays in a row and we have a turnover on downs. I'm not even bulleting them. So I decide to try a bullet pass on the next drive. I throw a bullet to Larry Legend who breaks Briean Boddy-Calhoun's ankles BADLY on a hitch, and what does the football do? Now, I'm reading the screen. It says "Bullet pass - Accurate." I know that it's going to Larry Fitzgerald because I SPECIFICALLY pressed square. So where does the football go? The football - which is clearly going through a LOBBED animation - goes sailing twenty yards downfield into Earl Thomas's arms. There's not even a receiver further than 7 yards downfield. This was the empty all hitches play. Five guys all running 3-7 yards and turning around. And Early Thomas is a single high safety WAY far away from the play. The pass says Bullet, it says it's accurate, but the result is an inaccurate lob pass that is hilariously off target. I continue, now pretty upset, but I'm trying to figure out what's going on. I'm not even trying to win at this point. I've abandoned the run entirely. I'm trying to just see why passing isn't working at all. So I continue. For the rest of the game, though, even WITH trying a wide variety of easy passing concepts, wide-open looks, and a defense that's out of position and most of these plays, no QB on my team completes a pass. The closest thing that we get is the completed jet pass, but your punter will have a 100% completion percentage on those plays, as they are literally counted as handoffs by the computer, just not in the stats. Even the commentary reflects that they're handoffs. I'm very annoyed by this. It was SUCH a weird game. I wasn't expecting Ta'Amu to be very good, but surely he'd be able to complete at least ONE throw. And as for Herbert, this guy has 88 short accuracy. Why isn't he completing any short throws after that single drive? And like I said, these guys are wide open on a lot of these throws. I'm befuddled.

  17. The trade that happens between our countries is based on business principles. You act like you believe the U.S. is doing us a favour which they aren’t. Goods are moving across the border. 95% of business travel is non essential and can be accomplished by video conferencing. It’s been done numerous times before. Companies that have to have personnel travel to Canada can arrange that through foreign affairs. No, we aren’t all that similar. We have numerous, significant differences between our countries. Canada supports multiculturalism not the melting pot. We have two official languages, we have national healthcare indicative of a far more compassionate society. It’s further illustrated by the breadth of our social programs. We aren’t a militaristic country and we observe international law, signed agreements and abide by international trade tribunal rulings. Suggesting that our cultures are the same is frankly a bit obtuse tbh. Throw your trade numbers out the window. Do you not think that Canada can’t sell its raw materials and manufactured goods elsewhere? If you do that’s foolish. Our trade is a result of business practice and will only be altered when underlying circumstances change. You exaggerate the border issue terribly. No one is talking years. The latest would be September 1st but I suspect August 1st is a more likely date. Each stage of opening requires impact assessment. I’m sorry if you disagree but every expert concurs with that methodology. We follow science and the recommendations of OUR experts. I really can’t address a number of your points without getting political. Which is to bad because your assessment of the relationship between our countries seems to be rooted in the false concept of America first. Sorry but that dog don’t hunt.

  23. Link Apparently, Ken Riley's passing might actually convince the team to do a ring of honor, which it almost definitely won't be called. I imagine it won't happen unless fans are there for the induction, but what thoughts does anyone have? Size of the first class? Who should be in it? My plan would be a 4 person group to start, but all celebrated on their own weekends. Paul Brown, Munoz, Anderson, and Riley. Several more deserving players and coaches can be added in later seasons but I wouldn't rush it.

  27. So there has been no rookie camps, no minicamps and now training camp is in serious jeopardy. There's also no way to quarantine 50+ players for each NFL team. The "second wave" isn't supposed to hit until this winter as well. This is not good news for the 2020 season. Not good at all.

  29. Right on. This was based on our previous conversation so if you don't feel that way, I'm good. I hope you're wrong about it being a part of our life moving forward or, at least, just a lesser problem than it is right now. I looked at my CC statement last night and usually, my commute requires me to fill up my gas tank once a week for work. Come the 24th of this month, it will have been 2 damn months since I filled my tank up (still over a quarter left). That's how often I go anywhere lol. I want my normalcy back, the world's normalcy back, and will continue to do my part while frustratingly watch others not give a flying F. OK I should probably pay attention to this virtual meeting and not ramble on here so as long as we're good, cheers!

  30. Sacks are such a luck-based stat, people really should stop judging players based off of them. I saw several Seahawks games last year where Clowney was extremely close to getting a sack or a pressure, but he was double-teamed at the last second or his teammate got the sack before he could. He's still beating the man in front of him at one of the highest rates in the league, even when double-teamed. You can't tell me opposing offensive coordinators didn't focus on trying to limit his impact last year. He's not worth $20mm per year, but he's nowhere near a bust either.
    2 points
  31. Reportedly Seahawks offered 1 year 15 million and Browns are offering 12 million per year. So somewhere between 12 and 15 million seems to be his market, which isn't bad really. He reportedly was/is seeking 20 million a year and no one is coming close to that. Clowney under produced to his talent and hype in college and that continued in pros. He isn't a bad player, he is good, but him not being a star shouldn't have been the massive surprise it has been and he never should have been number 1 pick. Which is obvious now. At least teams learned a little bit with Rashon Gary who is a similar player, but didn't go in top 5 as his talent would seem to indicate. HS super star recruit who never quite lived up to hype in college with production. Also a guy who could be a good player, but isn't going to set world on fire.

  32. I think that's the endgame here - and that's going to be Tennessee. Mike Vrabel and Jadevion Clowney both joined the Texans at the same time, and Vrabel was brought in as Clowney's position coach/personal handler early on. Vrabel would work with Clowney on his hand work, his footwork, would script his pass rushing moves and would break down film with him 1v1 - and once Clowney got going, that extra time started to show up on the stat sheet. That personal connection, paired with a team that has SB aspirations and a really good defense could bode well for all parties involved - Clowney, Vrabel and Tennessee. A one year prove it deal in Tennessee has the potential to turn into a bigger, multi year deal next off-season, simply because Clowney with Vrabel and that defense will get the best out of him and could yield another deep playoff run.

  33. Big deal. I hired Sashi Brown to run my draft. When I found him, all he seemed to be doing with his time was playing Zelda and watching Boy Meets World reruns while his mom brought him a steady flow of diet Sprite and pizza rolls. Convincing him we can't trade back on every pick took some doing, but after that, we've become a well oiled machine. Although, Sashi does keep talking about this being a 3-5 year process. No, Sashi, it's not!! He also wanted to draft an all Ivy league team. I'm not going to lie, things got a bit heated. Lotta tension in the room. Good news: I'm dating his mom now. What can I say, woman knows her way around a pizza roll. Just Don't tell my wife.

  34. I guess it's late enough in the draft that I can share where I get my picks from, but I made a big board that's a combination of some end of season pff "best of" each position lists and the pro bowl list. A little research and I haven't had to struggle to make a pick yet.

  36. Clowney thinks he's still that #1 overall kid from 2014. He's not. He's still a very good DE against the run and an adequate but not great pass rusher, and he couldn't produce opposite one of the best all around DE in the game in Watt, not to mention some other really solid pieces on that Texans DL. He would be smart to take the guaranteed money/years Cleveland offered him. Betting on himself to get a big contract with his injury and production history at this point 6-7 years into his NFL career isn't a good decision. Cleveland may very well be somewhat overpaying him, but their DE situation opposite Myles in Vernon last year was underwhelming, and they really need other EDGE help even if Vernon is healthy. Vernon is gone in 2021 anyway, and a Clowney/Myles tandem on the outside with Vernon as a rotation piece or these guys moving inside/outside on obvious passing situations is a very solid group. Otherwise, accept a 1 year "prove it" deal on an obvious Super Bowl contender.

  37. He'll never be a traditional full-time RB that's not in skillset he'll line up behind center and run the ball up the middle a few times to keep the defense honest but mostly he'll be moved around to create mismatches. I would love to see Bowden and Jacobs in the backfield at the same time with a double TE look. If they bring in the nickel package to cover Bowden then Jacobs can just run crazy over them.

  38. Surges would be related to a bunch of things but I’d hope you can see why people would be frustrated (although shouldn’t blame one thing vs the other). NJ for example specifically allowed protests of 100 people but outdoor gatherings of only 25 for a while. I love the 1st amendment but you are going to get a large pissed off part of the population when you start moving the goal posts so much and people realize the situation is blatantly being used for personal/political gain.

  39. I just don't get the infatuation with Ball. He's not a good basketball player at all. He can't shoot and can't defend. He's not going to be good, folks. I'm taking Cole Anthony 100x out of 100 over LaMelo and not even thinking twice about it. Ball's not even a top 5 guard in this draft, let alone a top 5 overall talent.

  40. I was thinking purely in the context of free agency. I.e - Gordon ultimately signed for what the market dictated (Same with Bell), as opposed to Clowney who appears to remain in denial for whatever reason. Dak... We shall see. But to your point: Gordon was always nuts for thinking he could leverage the Chargers into a massive deal.. So, yes, completely overvalued himself. Bell, at the time, was playing at a historic level & given his production I felt he had some ground to stand on. If the rumors of Dak wanting $40M + are true, well, good luck Cowboys fans.
