Weird how having fundamentally unserious people in positions of authority refusing to take the virus seriously and having no plan other than hoping it just goes away on its own has now backfired.15 points

The crazy part - the KC PS player who tested positive was playing the Cam role in practice - QB Jordan T'aamu Talk about taking your role a bit too far.8 points

if anyone in nfl leadership has more than 2 functioning brain cells to rub together they’ll do a league-wide pause and start working on some kind of bubble. it’s only going to get worse from here otherwise. but judging by their handling of this to date, they won’t.8 points

Test results. People really need to understand it doesn’t matter if you are asymptomatic or not. You can still spread it. That’s the danger.5 points

Not exactly sure how we're going to have a season at this point. It's not like baseball where you can just stack doubleheaders on and get makeup games pretty easily played. If one positive test shuts a game down then this is just going to go one way. 6 months of lead time and the NFL had absolutely no plan in place for this. Just flying blind and figuring it out as they go. Can't say I'm surprised but disappointing nonetheless.4 points

I didn't realize heart disease was contagious. Also, fewer than 10% of Americans have had COVID-19(source) with over 200k dead. Imagine what that number looks like without social distancing, masks, etc. Sadly, I think we're going to get a glimpse this fall. But this isn't the thread for science talk. Please keep this thread relevant to the game/NFL so it isn't needlessly shutdown like the NFL will be.3 points

If its any consolation, i turned 39 on Thursday and had to drive for work for 11 hrs.3 points

It could but they aren't even taking half-measures to ensure it happens. I don't see that changing either, so I'm sticking with my prediction of some games but not a full season.3 points

It’s genius really. Howie: “Jeff, listen. This season is going to halt midway through. All these idiots are going to be playing for an incomplete season. They’ll play their young, valuable pieces and go as hard as they can for what? A season that’s going in the tank. Nonsense. Hear me out; we’ll have Carson play like complete ish. Phantom injure every good young piece we have. Play all the old, expensive guys into the ground and at the end of the season, cut and trade anyone over 30, turn the whole roster over with a top 3 pick. We’ll save face and put the team in great position fina3 points

Motioning presnap is pretty widely accepted as a must in today's NFL to show coverage for your QB and as that video showed hold LBs a split second extra to open running lanes making them hesitate. Jets are dead last in presnap motion.3 points

Absolutely unofficial and without any guarantee for completeness, correctness, and validity - but ot the best of my knowledge AFTER week 4 TNF. Sorry for the weird format. In RED those where I didn't find any week 4 picks, in BLUE where I miss earlier picks. I like Nagy as a HC and I truly believe he could a long term fixture here. His play-calling is a bit buggy at times but this is all based on a QB who he didn't even outright choose. I think Nagy saw Mitch and really thought he could 'fix' him or atleast "bandage him up" enough to make it work for the team built around him. And in a sense, he did in some ways. But when he started to make adjustment, after adjustment, after adjustment and saw very little to no improvements on Mitch's end after running out of ideas, he realized that he bit off more than he could chew and the INT last we3 points

Here's the thing though - so far, transmission isn't occurring by playing the games. And that mirrors the experience in other sports. It's all about how teams enforce and adhere to measures within their own groups. I think it's highly likely, but the crazy part here is that it's all about the commitment teams & the NFL have to have local controls. I get it's a LOT harder with 90 players and 30-40 staff over NBA/NHL and even MLB - but it's pretty clear local bubbles are the only shot for a full season (barring a Disney NBA approach, but that ship has sailed). A pause and r2 points

The league's decisions make no sense. We will have no idea how widespread this may or may not be in either KC or NE's locker room for several days at best. Also, moving the game really isn't an option unless the league pushes the playoffs back. Which is what they should have done with Tennessee and Pittsburgh. It was moronic - just incredibly shortsighted - to think that this was going to be a one off case. And as I argued already, they set a bad precedent. It's not going to be possible to move most games the way they did the Steelers/Titans. They got lucky with the schedule once. Th2 points

But people also need to understand that PCR tests are incredibly unreliable and were never intended for diagnostic use. They don't even need a whole, living virus to test positive just a portion of a single RNA strand which could be weeks old. There's also the false positive rate - studies have shown the test responds to other viruses (and indeed, tiny fractions of other viruses) - which brings them even further into question. Then there's the lack of consistent cycle runs - some labs are running over 35 cycles, which renders the test meaningless. In short the test is not fit for purpose,2 points

What exactly is the problem with a tie? Why is it better to have a contrived spectacle decide an almost arbitrary victor than just accept an even contest ended in an even result?2 points

The NBPA hated the bubble, but they did it because they knew that's what it took to play the season as safely as possible. If the NFLPA doesn't agree to a bubble, then this is going to continue to happen and the season will be a nightmare.2 points

I'm all on board with a DT and a FS our defensive line looks really bad so far this season. I might wouldn't mind a LB or Edge. Just depends on what we do in free agency. Not really sold on many edge rushers in this coming draft though, Maybe Patrick Jones II, or Carlos Basham. Don't see edge as a first round need, But somewhere in the draft potentially. For Linebackers though there are a few i do like, I'm not really sold on Kwiatkowski, he I believe has a history of pec injuries before he even got here and injured his pec first game in. Have to be prepared incase he does stay injured a lot.2 points

The thing is, Cam is almost definitely not the only Patriot with this. He’s the QB. The Titans have been getting new positives every day including today. Cam who has to talk to many of the coaches and be in close contact with the entire offense would be extremely fortunate to not spread it. So really it’s likely we get the same roll out over the next week. I don’t know how you have a game2 points

Most offices are unnecessary. I get that people need socialization, but you can do that on your own time with people of your choosing instead of the forced interactions your employer provides. This isn’t 1970. People don’t need to be in close proximity to work with one another.2 points

That's how I will approach it. Humphries played week 3. Whether he went to IR or the Titans had a bye, he is eligible for the following week. The first game the Titans play a game and he isn't out there, then he's a no go for BDL.2 points
-
We need to treat him as we would treat players going into IR on their bye week. I think - might be wrong - that we can play dudes on their bye if they played the week before even though they went to IR. So same logic would apply here2 points

I definitely don't miss the years when the rams just consistently went 2-14 or 4-12 at best. 14 straight years of 7-9 or worse.. usually worse lol but I never missed a game. One thing I learned in those years, is any given Sunday we could have shocked the world. In 07 I went to a game against the bills in St. Louis and we barely lost, then went on to beat Washington and blew out Dallas before losing the rest of our games. Or even when we randomly destroyed New Orleans or Denver when they had Peyton. Its tough. Im definitely trying to enjoy the Mcvay era as much as possible cause you never know2 points

QB is the most important position. No one said the new GM would be terrible at drafting other positions. Maybe he will be able to even draft good players in the top 10 or find a competent kicker? If we have a franchise QB we will be closer to actually winning than we have been in a decade plus.2 points

Hooper was very productive and a pro bowl selection twice while with ATL, and I think he will do just fine when he is fully integrated into Stefanski's system and Mayfield grasps it. Otherwise, I generally agree with the quoted statement.2 points
