  1. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-covid-19-outbreaks-unvaccinated-players-forfeit-cancelled-game Love the hard-line stance the league is taking. Let teams be responsible for who they employ. This will hopefully encourage vaccine-resistant players to recognize their jobs are at SERIOUS risk now if they fail to protect themselves on the rest of society. Guilty team would record a loss and have financial penalties. It makes total sense to do it this way. Well done, NFL.

  2. This is gonna go badly as a thread for sure. To put it bluntly, players blindly trust doctors until now. Suddenly everyone wants an opinion on something that quite frankly they don't understand. The vaccine is more than safe and not taking it will potentially jeopardize the football season for the team they play for. There's already evidence of reduced viral shedding and transmission among vaccinated people. The myocarditis risk is exceedingly low. Not getting the vaccine is choosing not to be a team player both figuratively and literally.

  3. He admits that him being unvaccinated will hurt the team due to increasing the chance of an outbreak, but he would rather quit the NFL than get a vaccine? Cmon, DeAndre. Just get the shot lmao.

  6. the country my family is from didn't eradicate polio until less than a decade ago because of the difficulty of vaccine supply, distribution, and uptake, but here in america we have absolute losers actively fighting against mass covid vaccination despite having a vaccine supply that poorer countries would kill for. pathetic.

  8. I’ve won a Super Bowl and I play in such a way as to make my TD:INT ratio look otherworldly in comparison to other quarterbacks. This has hurt my team in a couple post-season games. I’ve also taken up as much as I am worth in cap space, but don’t understand that if I do that, that’s less money and thus less quality for 52 other players on the team. As such, I have not won a Super Bowl in ten years while Tom Brady, who has taken less than he is worth, has won four in that same timeframe. I am mad because I keep asking for new deals that make the Packers incapable of adding enough talent

  9. K. So.... No doubt using your first pick and trading up with more capital to take a QB did not sit well. Rodgers has said it isn't about Love. And I think he's right. He's good with Jordan. He's not good with the position that Jordan plays. He's upset with the front office. He's said that. And he has not mentioned the lack of players brought in. He's talked about how players are treated. He openly praised an unknown WR(yet God in GB) named Kumerow. Then Kumerow was released. (If he is truly upset about this, he's way wrong.) I think he's miffed that he wanted his

  10. the problem with treating it this way is that that stupid individual choice also *decreases the vaccine's efficacy for everyone,* not to mention the increased possibility for more variants and the immediate threat it poses to immunocompromised people (and, for the time being, children under 12) who can't get the vaccine. it simply cannot be compartmentalized as individuals making a stupid choice, which is exactly why we require plenty of other vaccines.

  15. Nobody is being forced, they have autonomy, they can literally opt out and face 0 consequences other than not getting paid for this year. And if they don't get it, and then a viral spread happens in the locker room which literally happened in almost every single locker room in the sport last year, they risk losing those games and a ton of money and missing the playoffs. They're being incentivized, that's the social contract, that's how society works. And also, flatly, the vaccine is not *for* healthy young people who aren't as likely to face adverse effects, its so those healthy young pe

  16. I love how there's now a throng of people who definitely know what Myocarditis is that just happened to appear from nowhere the minute their latest culture war issue of "vaccines bad" pointed to the obvious fact that stuff has side effects and that doesn't mean it's not broadly safe and fit for human use. You're 10000x more likely to die or suffer grievous life altering injuries from driving a car, something I'm sure most of you do every single day, than getting 1-2 shots once a year for a few years. Anyway, if there are strident hardliners who refuse it that's fine, you won't get cu

  22. But who cares if he was the quarterback on a team that went to the Super Bowl...right? That just means his team kept winning, and you guys keep insisting that the QB has no particular or meaningful impact on the team winning. So what does it matter that his team won a lot of games? He’s the GOAT because he just so happened to be on a team that won a lot of games? Just 1 of 53! Now you’re asking me to judge him as a QB based on the year-by-year results of one game (the Super Bowl)? His teams have won 7 Super Bowl games. What does that have to do with Tom Brady’s ability, thou

  24. It's become the HB of defense. Can't say unjustly either. With how the game has evolved, LB just isn't the impact position it once was. Unless you have a Kuechly, Lewis, etc type of HOF talent or an elite coverage specialist like Warner- you really shouldn't be investing big money at the position. Drafting one high who isn't a near flawless prospect is a dubious venture as well. A 1st Round Pick flaming out will always sting, but identifying a talent like Fred Warner just as Reuben Foster is red flagging himself out the door has to feel like appreciated recompense from their FO to 49er fa

While I'd very much like to keep this topic open so we can discuss Football-related aspects of this news (like how it will affect certain players' chances of making a roster), I see it is already starting to tip over to COVID-related discussion and it will likely just spiral uncontrollably if I let it stay open. You can discuss COVID here:

  34. All valid and I agree with every assessment. The part we're not considering is the person making this decision is making it with the best interests of the team and THEIR JOB in mind. If you take the consensus #1 overall pick and he bombs, you get to say, "Well every loved that guy, you can't blame me". If you take a risk at #1, you don't get that luxury and you're likely fired for it. i.e. You take Cade at #1 and you have no risk of getting fired if he doesn't perform as well as Green. If you take Green and he busts, you're fired in 2 years.

  35. You and @RSkinGM are correct. Miller is likely the best every down back on the roster. I just don't see that is something Rivera likes. He is a running back by committee guy. Miller has certainly accomplished quite a bit. But I guess I am in the camp of Miller will be coming into his 9th nfl season. He is a running back. Running back + 8 seasons = end of career. I guess for your argument, maybe holding Miller instead of Barber lets them thin out the numbers of backup running backs needed on roster cause he can do everything. I just don't get cutting a guy on the cheap who did hi

  36. I was fairly bored working from home back in December so I decided to see just how bad the Vikings kicking "luck" has been under Zimmer. I tabulated all of the kicks made for and made against and compiled the data. It really shouldn't be all that shocking. Since Zimmer was named HC in 2014 the Vikings rank: PAT for: 32nd (89.92% made, the league average over that time was 94.55% - 4.64% below the league average.) FG for: T28th (80.40% made, the league average over that time was 83.71% - 3.30% below the league average.) PAT against: 1st (96.70% made against us, the league av

  37. We had a better O-line then. Also, a deeper one. But as @StLunatic88said, if there's any position you can grab a guy off the street and see immediate production, it's the RB position. I do think we will go more pass heavy this year then last.

  40. You're twisting my words here. I didn't say the best player in the world is always on the champions and I didn't say just because you're on the champions means you automatically have an argument for best player in the world. The thing holding Giannis back for A LOT of people, including myself, has been his inability to come up big when it mattered. Giannis went toe-to-toe with Durant. He then absolutely obliterated everyone else in his path once that monkey was off his back, even after hurting his knee. The thing keeping me from saying Giannis was #1 was the playoff wall he couldn't

  41. I think you have to go back to the hiring of MLF and the "Don't be the Problem" from Murphy. Remember the will Rodgers get along with the new coach phase? Rodgers was coming off some down years for him, and it was around that time they drafted Love. My opinion is I think the Packers think Rodgers had gotten a little too big for his britches with the McCarthy thing and a slight decline in his play at the time was why they drafted Love.. Rodgers has become the aunt who brings the greatest pie in the world to the family outing, but becomes so annoying you can't wait until she leaves.

  42. I’ll say this about Kelly. In a league that is void of OL talent, it is a bit telling that at best a decent starting RT and at worse a quality swing tackle is still on the market. Maybe he’s one of the vets waiting until TC to sign or maybe we’re higher around here on him than the league is. It’s just weird he’s not on a roster yet.

  45. It is. But even if it’s not...who cares? A QB has never singlehandedly scored a passing TD. He has only been one part of a scoring passing play. A RB has never singlehandedly gained a rushing yard. He has only been part of a positive rushing play. There’s some fallacy being advanced here that if a piece of data isn’t wholly or independently attributable to the player in question, then it doesn’t have any value. That seems to be the position being espoused with regard to discrediting QB wins as an observation, at least. But it’s football — there aren’t any stats that are entirely ind
