  1. The Milwaukee Yelichs Thread - Welp

Eh. His slash line looks great, but when you adjust it for park and league it's a 97 wRC+. AAA offense this year is nuts.
  2. The Milwaukee Yelichs Thread - Welp

It's not really a secret in the hitting world that the Brewers organization needs a massive overhaul of their entire hitting development structure and have needed to do so for close to a decade. The mechanics they teach are....outdated to say the least.
  3. The Milwaukee Yelichs Thread - Welp

Corey Ray's swing has always been pretty gross and it doesn't look like he's gonna be anything more than maybe a 5th OF.

oh god no DDV is more of a combo guard and Sterling has basically been benched in the playoffs due to decision making errors.
  5. Bucks shot 25% from 3 (season average: 35.3%), Raptors shot 36% from 3 (season average: 36.6%). TOR shot basically as you'd expect from 3, MIL was -12 points from expected, and MIL still won by 8. That is not good news for Toronto... at all. More rigorous analysis than my back-of-the-napkin math says the Bucks should have been expected to win by 15 if not for the slumpy shooting: https://twitter.com/JacobEGoldstein/status/1128857197041991680

Bucks won and covered the spread despite being shooting below expected numbers. MIL was -12 points from 3 from where we'd expect and still won by 8. TOR shot basically as you'd expect (36%) from 3. With season average 3-point shooting, it's a blowout win. Not good news for TOR that they couldn't take advantage of the bad shooting game from MIL. EDIT: More rigorous analysis shows a 15 point Bucks win if not for slumpy shooting: https://twitter.com/JacobEGoldstein/status/1128857197041991680

  8. 2018/2019 EPL Thread

There are rumors that Liverpool want Ajax's Matthjias de Ligt, which would make sense given their transfer history.

After further research, my assertion here just didn't make sense.

Khris Middleton monthly splits (triple slash, TS%, and per 36 stats) October (7 games) .495/.549/.871, 69%, 24.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists November (14 games) .431/.350/.932, 57%, 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists December (12 games) .385/.299/.811, 49%, 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists January (15 games) .473/.385/.756, 56%, 19 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists February (10 games) .413/.389/.795, 53%, 20.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists March (15 games) .449/.375/.846, 56%, 22.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists April pre-playoffs (4 games) .478/.357/.857, 58.5%, 32.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists Playoffs (9 games) .422/.467/.923, 59.2%, 21 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5 assists So he had a bad December? Every other month is pretty minimal in terms of his volatility. If you can show me with any meaningful sample that he's any more volatile than any other player that relies on 3-point shooting I would love to see it. Tack on that he is a switchable defender able to play at the highest level, has added the PU3 to his game with great success, and can be the primary ball handler in non-Giannis post-season lineups? I will take that, yes please.

Wild that the Bucks got to use an elimination game as a "knock the rust off" game for Malcolm Brogdon.

This week of Champions League was unbelievable. Awesome from a neutral perspective.

The maximum amount of cap space MIL can create is 26.8M. That involves renouncing their rights to Middleton, Hill, Mirotic, Brogdon, and Connaughton. If you want to retain Brogdon's rights, you're at 22.1M. So looking at FA this summer, who can you get for 22-26M? D'Angelo Russell, who isn't helpful. Paul Milsap? Like, what are you doing with that money? The best use of the Bucks money for this iteration of the team, is to bring everyone back, go well over the cap and into the tax, and try and win titles in the next 3 years. You get on your knees and beg Brook Lopez to come back for the taxpayer mid-level. The Bucks, going forward, have basically no meaningful cap space unless you're just giving up on years entirely. Look at FA in the future years and it is... not good. People just don't like Khris Middleton for whatever reason but the guy is 45/38/87 for his career and 46/46/85 in the playoffs. Also, Middleton's per game numbers look worse this year because he played fewer minutes (Bud was not going to kill them). He increased his points per 36, his assists/36, his rebounds/36, and increased his 3-point rate substantially. Players that Bucks fans have lusted for as shooting guards: Bradley Beal: 45/38/79 with worse defense Jimmy Butler: 45/34/83 with degenerative knees and he also might be nuts The anti-Middleton sentiment is just baffling. If you think Middleton is any more volatile than whatever wet dream shooting guard Bucks fans have been lusting over for two years, I would love to see a quantitative study showing it. There is a reason Bucks fans and writers who understand how the cap works have all been saying the Bucks should bring back Middleton.

I don't think this has anything to do with Stevens and rather everything to do with how their offense initiates and who is doing it. Their primary offensive initiator is Kyrie Irving. Kyrie has never been a guy who attempts a high volume of FTs. The reason for this is he is pretty small and prefers the acrobatic finish avoiding/mitigating contact rather than going through contact. Gordon Hayward is their secondary initiator and he's just physically not the same player as he was in Utah. Jayson Tatum also is a low FTr player. BOS roster just doesn't have anyone who shoots a high number of free throws as an offensive initiator. Brad Stevens is an amazing coach. His roster doesn't have guys who get to the line.

Celtics ranked 30th in FT rate in the regular season and shot 19.5 per game, they shot 32 in the game and they're mad about the officiating. Bucks were #1 in FT rate allowed.

Comping anyone to Earl Thomas is stupid. He's one of the best safeties to ever play.
  19. Arsenal, Pt. X: Boom-Xhaka-Laca!

What a job by the front-2 yesterday. 3-1 heading to Spain feels pretty good. 538 odds: Arsenal has an 80% chance of advancing to final Arsenal has a 35% chance of winning final Arsenal has a 28% chance of qualifying for CL through PL 63% chance at CL still, somehow.

I'm not 100% sure Bulaga is gone. I certainly would say that it is more likely than not, but if he puts together a pretty healthy season, I could see GB bringing him back on a deal that doesn't hurt much if he breaks down.

Davante will be a FA at 29. I would not be remotely surprised if GB extended him for 3 years beyond that.
