Very true in many ways, but very different in others.

Everything is expanded upon so much, which both adds and takes away from the original story.    While the story is still largely intact, its just fleshed out to the point where it seems completely different in ways.

I am not complaining, most of the stuff is incredible and gives you a better understanding of things that didnt make quite as much sense in the original.     You also get more attached to the characters than in the original....at least for me.    For example....without giving away spoilers....in the original, there is a historically sad videogame moment and when it happened, I never really felt attached to the character enough to care all that much.      When it happens this time around....I will be MUCH more emotionally invested.

Like I said....its a great combination of old and new.      The only people that Ive seen really bash the game are the purists who essentially wanted the exact same game with modern graphics.     If you like more action oriented gameplay and can get behind an extremely expanded version of the FF7 story....then its a terrific game.

You mean IF it happens again... You'll know what I mean when you get to the end... Which I personally didn't like but we'll see what happens.

  2. Sheesh I had to go 4 pages deep to find this thread... Kinda surprising.

Did the windows 11 upgrade... Going to take some getting used to even though most of the changes aren't that major, it seems faster and more snappy than windows 10 so far but the centered task bar is a bit of a culture shock... Might have to change it to the classic layout but I'll give it a chance for a bit and see.

I’ve been watching a lot of Norm’s videos on YouTube lately under the I’m Not Norm account.  He was so damn funny.

I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t see Norm & Colin Quinn’s show a couple years ago. It was at one of the casinos out here & I didn’t want to go by myself when nobody else could go.  I still should’ve gone tho…

I had that same thing happen with George Carlin, had a chance to see him live in November 2007 but no one wanted to go with me so I didn't go... He died 7 months later... Still regret it to this day.

Got the game today.  Some impressions:

    - Started an offline franchise (ps4) and immediately after starting it my franchise menu didn’t load.  Had to restart my system and then it loaded fine.

    - They don’t even have the draft picks correct.  The bears traded their ‘22 first round pick and some change to move up for fields.  However, Madden still has them with their ‘22 first.  That’s just some laziness there.

    -  The lack of rookie pictures is killing me.  I get in the past later round guys wouldn’t always have pictures, but ALL of them?  I know, COVID and all.  But they couldn’t use the photos their team takes of them?  Hell, I’d be fine if they just had the rookies take a selfie and send it in to EA at this point.

    -  Haven’t gotten to play an actual game yet because it’s taking FOREVER to load.  Wtf??

    - I like that i can hire/fire coordinators.  Cool.

    - I like the option to create/edit uniforms, but i haven’t actually tried that yet so idk if that’s actually worthwhile or not. But i saw the option so that’s cool that they at least thought of it.

    - I REALLY miss the soundtrack of Madden 04.  It would be nice if they got the rights to a wide array of artists/genres and then let the user choose which genre they want their soundtrack to be/customize a playlist.   But of course, $$$$, so that’ll never happen.  For all the rap songs they have when you’re not playing a game, i do recall hearing  “high hopes” by PATD in the stadium during some games.

    -  Haven’t gotten to play an actual game yet because it’s taking FOREVER to load.  I realize this was my third bullet point on this post, but it still hasn’t completed since I’ve written this post.  Probably gonna have to restart my system (ps4).

If it's like years past you'll have to wait until you can do a live franchise or whatever it's called where it starts where the season is in real life and then the picks should be accurate, it's always been that way for some reason.

That seems like a bit of a reach, but I get the impulse to tie everything back to Kang. He has thus far, post Endgame, been presented as the big bad who will persist through this phase at the very least. He has been tied to multiverse and time travel, which makes it easy to plug him in virtually anywhere in the MCU. However, while this mindset made sense in the Infinity Saga where it all ties to the stones and Thanos, that Saga was MUCH more streamlined IMO. We get the 2-3 stand alone movies and then a team up. This Saga is much more all over the place with the intro to the Disney+ series. I think they have the capability to be much more weaving and intricate and push things in less of a straight line.

    Just an opinion though.

I also don't think Kang ends up being the final boss like Thanos was.

A lot of speculation the beacon was alluding to Galactus... But idk... It almost feels too early to do Galactus... You can't really step it up from there when it comes to big bads.

Thats the thing, Im not the one who looked at it-- He told me it had no power, no video displayed, no RBG lights on and the fans were not working. So no power to it = dead.

I just listed my PS4 and all the games for sale on ebay/letgo so lets see if I can sell that for $300 and only pay another $200 out of pocket for the $500 graphics card.

In a normal year I would say no way--but the fact that I read GPU prices may never come down as long as crypto mining is here along with the fact I currently have a waiting to die 7 year old 970 in my system. I feel like my hand is forced and I have to take this one for $500. This 3070 better be worth it because Im jumping through a whole lotta hoops to get this done just to get the GPU that should have been included with my system anyway.

The 3070 is a great card and is a steal at $500 in this market but it's definitely messed up that the doa card isn't going to be replaced that's just boggling my mind.

From what I was told its because 1) It was bought from Amazon as a prebuilt from a 3rd party seller. Asus apparently said 'tough ***' you didnt buy directly from us. 2) The case was opened to tinker around with some things and was swapped into a new case to make the ventilation work. Apparently that voided any warranty.

Huh, that's weird. Didn't know prebuilts were like that. How are you suppose to even know it's dead without opening it up and making sure it's not just a case of a wire coming loose in transit or something?

Definitely thank you, thats where Im at. The biggest reason for me wanting to pull the trigger isnt just for right now or the next year. Its because I want something that I wont have to worry about and will be 'elite' for the next 5+ years and not have to worry about the 970 crapping out on me or not being able to run games next year.

I read a article where the Ndivia CEO said he sees these production problems continuing through 2022--so it likely wont be anytime soon I will be able to get a 3070 for $500 again.

Wait I'm confused... Why you looking to buy a 3070? If your GPU was doa it should be replaced for no charge by Asus.

I really like it too. We all know the issues was over promising and under delivering, but it is still a massive game and I had a blast beating it. I will play it again when the PS5 version comes out.

Same, definitely had some issues I had to reload the game multiple times to deal with and dealt with regular crashes (PS5 btw) but I still loved the game despite it's performance flaws and will undoubtedly play it more when the ps5 version and DLC come out.

I sincerely feel Gardner Minshew is going to become a folk hero in Philly. He's the type of guy that that fanbase would worship.

Doesn't mean he's good at football - he's not, not by a longshot - but his persona will fit with that group.

To be fair... He's better than whoever the Texans will probably be trotting out week 1 so there's that...

  11. I really dislike the archetype system... One game I'm a god at the plate the next game I'm on the mount but suddenly forgot how to hit and went from one of the fastest players in the league to being slow af? Yeah that's not how that works, lol.

It's a damn sports game not COD...

Hate to keep bugging you about this but do you have any recommendations for a good budget monitor in the $150-$200 range? Im trying to look at all of the specs but I have no idea what half of them mean (like Freesync/Gsync and Flicker) and whats important or not outside of FPS.

Monitors I can't really help with, I don't have a traditional desk setup I have mine hooked up to the big screen.

Just Google "best gaming monitors" and you'll definitely find some good lists and most lists usually try to accommodate every price point.

  13. Okay so for anyone that's been playing the beta is it just me or did they really mess up the AI? I seem to remember enemies swarming you in the original but in this one they seem to have a tendency to run around like chickens with their heads cut off

Because its still the best sports game on the market and they have made a significant effort to improve franchise mode this year.

I'd definitely put the show above it but obviously that does require that you enjoy baseball games, you'll never catch me watching baseball but I like playing the video games (same with golf and soccer)

So your basically telling me it comes down to how many RGB lights you want in a case haha cause that's the only real difference I can see in any of these 😂 I know that 510 elite on has 5* reviews so that's what makes me lean that way. Might as well put the really good equipment from that ASUS in a equally good case to maximize it

    Yeah basically

    NZXT H510

    NZXT H710

    Be quiet! Pure base 500DX

    Fractal design Meshify

    Lian Li 011 Dynamic

    Lian Li Liancool II Mesh

    Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X

Those are a few very popular options, I'd say pick the one you think looks best (or just the cheapest if you wanna save money) as you really can't go wrong with any of them.

  16. I just realized I said the pure base 500DX comes with 2 case fans, it actually comes with 3 but since I went with the AIO I had to remove the one in front to put the radiator in (of course the AIO has 3 fans of it's own sm attached to the radiator) but if you went with an air cooler you would keep the front fan.

Right on thank you, I think I'm going to go with that H510 Elite case for $150 and call it a day.

There are a lot of solid cases out there, often times it becomes a matter of gamers choosing which one they like the most aesthetically once you get into the quality cases as they are all fine

  18. 15 minutes ago, AkronsWitness said:

Would that help it run quieter and less hot? I have this picture in my head that it's going to sound like my old PS4 fan and get extremely hot lol

High quality coolers definitely help run both quieter and cooler than cheap coolers.

The Noctua NH D15 and the be quiet! Dark rock pro 4 are probably the two best air coolers on the market. Both offer excellent cooling and run pretty quiet, I prefer the dark rock pro 4 just because the Noctua is ugly .. Although I think it does now come in black which makes it much better looking.

You could also choose an AIO if you prefer the sleek look. Lots of good options, the most popular are the Corsair H series (I personally gave an H150i elite capellix in my PC) and the NZXT kraken series.

Whatever you choose you need to make sure that case can fit it, either needs clearance for the heatsink if an air cooler or needs space for the radiator if an AIO.

I don't know the dimensions on that Asus case so you'd have to try to look it up, the H510 however I know can fit pretty much anything if you were to get that.

I can also personally vouch for the be quiet pure base 500DX as a very good case with good airflow, quiet operation and IMO better looks than the H510 (but that's obviously subjective) and it can definitely fit any cooler you may want to throw in there, I have a 360mm Corsair AIO in mine and with it and the two case fans it comes with the PC runs cool and quiet. It's also cheaper than the H510.

be quiet! Pure Base 500DX Black, Mid Tower ATX case, ARGB, 3 pre-installed Pure Wings 2, BGW37, tempered glass window https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087D7DBW6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_XWB07S6KE8SHR62FMCKC

Right on thank you, the problem is that its already on the way and shipped lol So Im going to have to do some cooling modification to it. If its as bad as literally everyone says it is, I might just drop $150 on a new good case myself (since I basically just got a $1800 PC for free) and have our IT guy swap all of the parts over.

The problem is I know nothing about what to look for in a case and if they are universal or not lol I have my eye on this one which seems to get good reviews

The H510 is a very popular and widely used case for gaming PCs.
