Taysom Hill ruled out for Sunday, still shaking off a concussion. Must have been a good one, this is 3 weeks of inactivity, and he's still not practicing.

Deonte Harris was listed as questionable. We could really use him back.

David Onyemata IS BACK!!!! This, coupled with Davenport, could be YUGE!

The Taysom Hill situation is troubling, yes, but it should mean loosen the reigns on Jameis. Which could be a good thing since, I'd imagine, Jameis has something to prove agianst his old club.

Regardless of his age, Ingram and Kamara can finish each other's sentences, and their combined attitude will be an amazing asset.

You just watch, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the entire run game goes off the hook with this duo this season.

My thoughts exactly man! Ingram should provide the consistency we need from a RB2. He will compliment Kamara (just like in Kamara's rookie season). More importantly though, I think, the two will push each other to be better than they are. I'm stoked about this trade.

Also, the leadership quality will just compliment the Saints' locker room.

It seems to me that we're forgetting that Book played/started for 3 years for a team that was pressing to be in the playoff race during that stretch.

Sure, the Irish had their fair share of draft picks, but not a ton. Notably their o-line was really stout and 2 tackles and a guard got drafted. I say this because so many teams have high draft picks surrounding a "marquee" player. Not so much with this pick/team. It's not like Alabama or Ohio State where a huge amount of their players get drafted, so everybody looks great by default.

But look at Book's numbers. The past 2 season he's 49-9 TD to INT ratio. Those are not slouch numbers, and certainly considering the competition.

I don't agree with the notion of Book being a career backup. This isn't Chase Daniel we're talking about. This kid played against some of the better teams in college as a starter for 3 years and has one heck of a track record to show for it, unlike some of the other top picks over the last several years who've had 1 or maybe 2 good/great years.

Winston is likely going to get the nod going into 2021 with Taysom playing the gadget QB. Book will be the insurance policy while he learns, and 2022 will be the tell tail, and will be the shape of our backfield for years to come.

Is JW on just a 1-year contract now or is it longer?

I don’t hate the prospect, but I don’t like him enough for the trade.

If we only had Taysom I’d like it a lot more, but with Winston under contract I can’t get behind it.

Side note: I’m actually excited to see Winston sling it a bit, knowing full well it’s gonna come with turnovers. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen that from this offense. Harris can take the top off the defense, one of Trequan Smiths best skills coming out was his ability to high-point contested balls downfield and he hasn’t been given much of a chance to showcase that. Michael Thomas takes unfounded hate but he’s more than capable downfield and he’ll get more chances to show that as well. Hopefully Winston develops better chemistry with Kamara than Taysom has.

I'm with Dome on this one... build the surrounding cast a bit more on both sides of the ball. Just bloody give JW the chance, I think he'll pleasantly surprise a lot of folks.

Jones is good? Yes. Is he worth both a 1st and 3rd for each of the next 2 years? IMO, no.

  5. Having now read all the posts, I'm gonna add this to the mix... my two pence as it were... lol

I think having Winston starting 2021 will benefit both he and MT. With Kamara and company to set up big plays and what not, then add Taysom to the mix and you have on badass offense.

The key to the defense, IMO, is retaining Hendrickson. The new DB coach is an instant improvement... period.

Saints in 2021,  12-4 or better.

I don't think thats a bad ranking. The Saints biggest weakness in the playoffs was Brees ironically.

As much as Brees did for New Orleans as a whole... I tend to agree with ya here Mookie.

Don't get me wrong, I love Brees (did ever since I met him at Purdue) as a player and motivator. He's a class act but for some odd reason he allowed the playoffs to be his nemesis.

Figured I'd open a topic on the coaching vacancies the Saints will be filling over the coming days/weeks.

We start with today... Payton absolutely 💯  knocks it out of the park with the hiring of new secondary coach Kris Richard. Former defensive backs coach of the Legion of Boom in Seattle and Cowboys defensive coordinator.

Other opening... TE's coach and QB's coach.

Assistant head coach and defensive line coach Ryan Nielson has interviewed for Green Bay vacant defensive coordinator position so we'll need to keep an eye on that one as well.

QBs coach... as I been saying... Drew Brees!!
