Or find another Mitchell through the draft or UDFA. There's a better track record there than their handling of FA RBs tbh..

I'd imagine that we use a 7th or UDFA on an RB. I don't see us using a higher pick on a running back. At that point you probably still want to have Mostert back. If the young guy beats him out, great. If not you have Mostert.

But Wilson is likely gone, Hasty is probably going to be gone. We have no back breakers at the position right now. Sermon looks...uninspiring.

We went 8-8 with smith. So we should of atleast been a WC team with Ben?

Maybe this means we keep Singletary and Harbaugh never makes it to SF?

Yeah, thats what I was thinking as well. Maybe Crabtree becomes an absolute stud maybe. 2010 was the year where Seattle won with a 7-9 record. Guessing we can probably beat that with Ben. That also means that Beast Quake probably never happens.

  3. Not a stat, but apparently Mike Singletary vetoed an Alex Smith for Big Ben trade

    Quote

Then, 49ers owner John York, CEO Jed York, director of player personnel Trent Baalke and other executives called Singletary to a meeting. They had a trade in place with the Steelers for Ben Roethlisberger, who had recently been accused of sexual assault. Singletary vetoed the deal.

I didn't know about this either, wow. That would've been something LOL. I get it from Singletary's perspective, though. He's a man of deep faith and conviction and he most likely would've hated himself everyday for agreeing to that trade. Probably would've caused a pretty big riff with Big Ben, too.

I'm shocked that they gave him that kind of say if we are being honest.

It's like he's trying to gaslight us. .

Because of the way he handles people, he's honestly so much worse than Cohn. Lombardi is just a condescending *** if I'm being honest. I never find Cohn to be condescending (unless it's to lombardi LOL), but just a troll.

Lombardi also continues to act like this perception only exists in a subsect of 49er fandom as though objective reporters and football writers don't say the same thing as this group of 49er fans. The amount of times I have heard Mays, Tice, Kimes, Ruiz and god knows how many others basically roast Jimmy G and call him the weak link...i mean seriously. But you never see Lombardi call these people out. He just wants to treat the twitter fanbase like trash for some reason.

What he do now? Lol, that man HAS to be paid by Jimmy's agent, he just HAS to SMH!

Honestly, its more about his passive aggressiveness to the 49er community who believe the sun doesn't rise and set over Jimmy G.

He posted Kyle's comments about Jimmy being aggressive as a qb and his INT rate (LOL), and David tried to be passive aggressive about twitter creating some sort of false narrative. As though what Shanny says means a damn thing in situations like that.

Akash said Jimmy was middle of the pack in NGS target aggressiveness (throws to a receiver with a defender within 1 yard):

The way he tries to just throw it aside like that kills me...especially  when he tried to use Aiyuks' separation stats earlier this year as a basis to support the handling of that situation.

Here is the problem, NONE of these RBs are built to be every down backs. Maybe Sermon has the build for it but Shanny likes these fast backs that aren't the biggest and you take a beating in this system. If we can bring back Mostert, that would be awesome. But if Lance is at QB, I think Shanny goes to more inside runs and Sermon will have more value. Either way, Mostert being back would make this backfield super legit and we can save Deebo from getting worn out with runs by saving him for the playoffs.

It's not Sermon either based on his history lol.

I don't really expect any of them to be every down backs. I'd expect a rotation. We just certainly can't continue to use Mitchell in the method that we have.

I'd like to bring Mostert back on the cheap because of that dimension he has that the others don't. Even with Lance in there, I still expect those outside zone pitches (to keep the defense honest) and that's his jam. As you said, it's also helpful that he keeps Deebo from taking as many hits.

Post from another thread got me thinking. Breaking it down by conference, the QB disparity is insane. AFC's got Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Burrow & Jackson. Lawrence, Wilson & Jones have potential.

Looking at strictly the NFC, how would you rank it? Assuming Brady retires

Rodgers, Stafford, Prescott, Wilson, Ryan would be my top 5. Thats solid but a far cry from the AFC's top 5.

You're missing that the AFC still technically has Watson too

Acho and Wiley just go too far but someone that I respect is Darius Butler and he's a Jimmy G supporter. I don't think he rates Jimmy G extremely high but I've seen him defend him a few times. He acknowledges his flaws but says he does a lot of winning things well like being clutch and being good on 3rd down....But I don't know if he was THAT good on 3rd down this season? I know in 2019 he was money, but it seemed more inconsistent this year. I could be wrong though.

I will say that I found the Kittle quote they used at the bottom of the screen particularly hilarious though.

"All he does is try to deliver" lol

I was absolutely not a Parsons fan. I live near where he grew up and in the heart of Penn State world and there were some really, really troubling things about Parsons' makeup and character.

I'm the kind of guy that no matter how talented you are, if you're a crap human being, I don't want you on my team.

I heard about that stuff as well. That early in the draft, that kind of stuff kind of scares you

I’ve been riding the Rams train most of the season. Seems like they have it this year (after some confusingly bad games mid season). They will go to the Superbowl.

and Belichick isn’t waiting for them!!

It's sort of a win / win for me. If the 49ers, its obviously a win. But if the Rams win, I feel like I'm completely vindicated on my Stafford hype before the season. Nobody drove that STafford to 49er bus harder than me, I think lol.

I also believe the Rams will win, though not a great matchup for them. If you play this matchup 100 times, I wouldn't be surprised if it's 50/50. I Feel like the 49ers have a better chance at winning this game (on the surface) than the last two playoff games.

IF the Chiefs win, I think most people will cheer the rams because the Rams defense can be just as stingy as the niners but if you get good Stafford in the super bowl, he's good enough to go back and forth with Mahomes for a while.
