There’s a secondary kind of stigma that goes deeper - “go get help” and “stay on your medication” isn’t a helpful response from those sympathetic to folks dealing with mental illnesses. It takes work and effort from the whole support system, finding the right help is more important than just going to see someone. Medication and dosages can shift over time, etc. I’m really glad he’s made this statement, and I’m hopeful that he can work back toward being on track and staying there.
