  1. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

Didn’t even know he had an option. Not a huge fan of this move. He played really well last season and would have been the 1-tech next to Leo on early downs.
  2. Leo Williams

Leo regularly finishes top 10 in both pressures and stops amongst interior defensive lineman. I continue to be dumbfounded by the section of Jet fans that think they should move him for an late 2nd round pick.
  3. NYJ Mock Offseason v 2.0

Great work as always. I’m hesitant to post my mock now because of how similar it is to yours, lol. No joke. We have 6 of the same free agents with almost identical contracts, and the same first round pick in a similar trade down. Similar draft strategy too. The one big difference in mine is I have the Jets being much more aggressive in trading up with their added draft capital from the trade back. I think you’ll be able to get a top 15 quality edge prospect late in the first round and a 1st round quality WR prospect in the 2nd round. Also, I’m curious as to who you re-signed. I see that you kept Claiborne around. I’m hoping they shoot a little bit higher then that.
  4. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

I’d rather sign Paradis then Bell. I’d probably rather the Jets sign Paradis over any realistic FA (assuming Lawrence/Clowney/Ford/Clark don’t hit the market).
  5. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

I’m actually putting the finishing touches on my mock off-season, where I have the Jets signing Ronald Leary to a one year prove it deal after being cut by Denver.
  6. The Random Thread (TAJT!)

I’m not sure how many people remember me, but I’d be willing to take the Mod position if Webby needs someone. I’ve been on this forum since I was a little kid. I’m almost 30. Footballsfuture has been the place I’ve gone to have detailed and thoughtful discussion on the Jets for the majority of my fandom. This forum has really dropped off over the past years. I would love to see it improve.
  7. 2019 prospects and outlook

Are you going to post it?
  8. Leo Williams

Considering he’s set to make over $14M in 2019, it would make a lot of sense to try and extend him this offseason if they are able to sign him at a price point below market value. While I don’t think Williams is going to turn into Aaron Donald (or Fletcher Cox even) just because of a change in scheme, I do expect him to have a career year. I would be stunned if he doesn’t finish top 10 at his position in pressures next season (assuming he stays healthy). There are people across the league that feel like the Jets have misused Leo his entire career. Would not be surprised to see him finish next season with 7-8 sacks and 60+ pressures. Beyond the change from a 2-gap system to a 1-gap system, Gregg Williams uses a lot more stunts/twists then Bowles ever did.
  9. Coaching Staff Complete

https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/breaking-down-the-jets-newly-announced-2019-coaching-staff/303728130 Good read that makes a few interesting points. It does feels like the Jets took a “best coach available” approach to their staff, especially on offense. Both Jim Bob Cooter and new TEs coach John Dunn are known as bright young offensive coaches (with play calling experience) that have been lauded for their work with QBs. Neither have experience at their respective postions on the Jets staff. Bo Hardegree was the QB coach in Miami for all 3 years under Gase, and despite Loggains holding that title for the Jets, Bo was brought on as an offensive assistant. Seems to me that Gase was set on adding as many young bright offensive minds to the offensive staff that he could. Check out the age of some of the offensive staff: Adam Gase - 40 years old Shawn Jefferson - 49 years old Dowell Loggains - 38 years old John Dunn - 36 years old Bo Hardegree - 34 years old Another point that article makes is that quite a few of the staff hires took demotions to join the Jets staff, possibly signaling that the Jets were an attractive coaching destination this offseason.
  10. 2019 prospects and outlook

I agree 100%. Montez Sweat, Brian Burns, and Clelin Ferrel would be top 10 picks in most drafts. They are tremendous prospects in their own right. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them turn out to be the best edge rusher in this class.
  11. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

I don’t think Anthony Barr is being talked about enough when discussing FA edge rushers. There is a faction across the league that believes he has been misused in Zimmer’s defense and that his best position is as an edge rusher. Analytics seem to back that up, especially this past season where he struggled in a couple other areas but had the best pass-rushing productivity of any LB in the league. I fully expect a few teams to treat Barr as an edge rusher in free agency, both in their utilization of him as well as the kind of contract they would be willing to offer. Hopefully the Jets are one of those teams. As far as his utilization under Gregg Williams, I think there are two trains of thought on how to use him. The first and most logical one would be to employ Barr as a pass rushing SLB in base and a DE/EDGE in sub packages. The other would be to use him full-time as the rush DE (or weakside end). Doing so would come with plenty of risk, considering the contract he will demand and the fact that you’d be asking him to learn an entirely new position. It’s an interesting idea though considering his best skill might be his pursuit. Maybe it’s the kind of forward and outside the box thinking needed to fill a position of need with a true impact player in free agency.
  12. 2019 prospects and outlook

Q has some really good pass rushing traits but he’s nothing close to Donald. The one thing that concerns me about Q as far as pass rushing goes is his lack of closing speed, which could prevent him from ever being a double digit sack guy.
  13. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

Yeah, I don’t see how you can compare the situations between Robby and Hunt. DV is on a whole other level.
  14. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

He ruptured his Achilles, which takes a year to heal. It is the largest tendon in your body and responsible for every movement of your feet. Athletes that rupture their Achilles in their 30s rarely recover, especially at a position like CB or WR. Just an FYI, I am in the physical therapy field.
  15. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

Thomas tore his Achilles and he’s on the wrong side of 30. That is a serious injury, in which is probably going to be career ender. He will not be ready for next season. Not to mention he already looked washed before the injury.
  16. 2019 prospects and outlook

But he would play DE the majority of snaps because the majority of defensive snaps in today’s NFL are spent in sub packages...
  17. Adam Gase hired to be the HC of the NYJ

Was the Cowboys offensive line coach from 2015 through 2017.
  18. 2019 prospects and outlook

Yeap. There’s 3 true blue chip prospects in this draft with Bosa, Q. Williams, and Allen. I really hope the Jets address the offensive line in a big way in free agency so they are in a position to finally take an elite pass rushing prospect that we’ve all wanted/needed for years. Unfortunately, the pass rushing market in free agency looks like its going to be a lot stronger then the offensive line market.
  19. 2019 prospects and outlook

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/draft-pff-film-room-josh-allen As we get closer to the draft I think it’s going to become clear that Josh Allen is a rare prospect. He’s the closest thing I’ve seen to Von Miller. Clelin Ferrell is a terrific prospect in his own right, but Allen is far superior. I’d lose my mind if the Jets took Ferrell over Allen because of “fit”. He would be the perfect SAM in Williams defense. You can make the argument that Allen would actually carry more value as a SAM who could also cover compared to pure hand in the dirt 43 end.
  20. 1/17/19 Mock

Almost every part of this mock is wishful thinking, lol. Guess that is what mocks are for though. If even 50% of this happened I’d be happy.
  21. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

Preston Smith is great with his hand in the dirt. I think he would be a perfect LDE in a base 43, and could even kick inside on passing downs. Barrett mainly plays in a 2 point stance.
  22. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

    Preston Smith and Shaq Barrett.
  23. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

Sanders and Thomas both ruptured their Achilles last month, and are both on the wrong side of 30. I wouldn’t be interested in either.
  24. Jets to hire Gregg Williams as DC

I’m so serious when I say this... I really hope they entertain the idea of hiring Rex Ryan if things don’t work out with Gregg Williams. Its a joke if they don’t close this thing out with Williams though. The Jets ability to close players/coaches they want has been terrible.
