  1. Jets to hire Gregg Williams as DC

  2. Adam Gase hired to be the HC of the NYJ

4-5 teams are in on him currently. Apparently this guy is a big proponent of the wide 9. Sucks. He is a great coach.
  3. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

While I’ve come around to the idea of giving Bell what he wants in FA, I really hope that Macc prioritizes the offensive line. It’s the one unit that you can improve drastically overnight. If the Jets want to help Darnold, they need to add atleast two new starters on the offensive line. The Jets should go hard after both Roger Saffold and Matt Paradis. Beachum is solid, Shell is improving, and you would see a different Brian Winters if he had an elite center next to him. Based on LG/C contracts given out last year, Paradis will probably cost around $12 million/year while Saffold would cost $13-14 million/year. They would be well worth it as long as there are outs on their contracts after the 2nd season.
  4. Jets to hire Gregg Williams as DC

I really hope this doesn’t mean that the Jets aren’t hiring Gregg Williams and Gase is bringing Burke with him to NY.

  6. Jets to hire Gregg Williams as DC

This is my singular concern with a Williams hire. It’s going to take resources away from the offense to change schemes. Where as with a 34, there weren’t any glaring holes. Seems like the idea of adding Bell, a WR, and two new starting OLmen is out the window with this hiring.
  7. Adam Gase hired to be the HC of the NYJ

Kind of like the trade up to 3 for Darnold, this move was aggressive, bold, and risky. They didn’t care about the fan backlash and hired the coach that checked the boxes they wanted checked. Let’s hope it works out as well as the trade up.
  8. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

Staying healthy has been his biggest issue. When he is on the field his talent in undeniable. He is the small, quick, precise route runner that fits so well in Gase’s system. In a perfect world the Jets would go out and sign Crowder, Bell, Paradis, and Glowinski. Then use the draft to address edge and cornerback.
  9. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

I think Jamison Crowder would be a great fit for Gase’s offense. He would be the Jets version of Albert Wilson.
  10. Adam Gase hired to be the HC of the NYJ

Would be the perfect hire, IMO. Make it happen.
  11. Adam Gase hired to be the HC of the NYJ

https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2718815-nfl1000-ranking-the-best-offensive-schemes.amp.html “Gase believes just as much in analytics as he does in old-school ideas, and in many ways he appears to be the prototype for the new kind of coach who will best succeed in the NFL—listen to your players, game-plan for each opponent differently and don't get too stuck in one concept.”

Everyone should listen to this Brock Osweiler interview regarding Gase... https://youtu.be/d0Lu33OnWjc
  13. Adam Gase hired to be the HC of the NYJ

Ever? You mean besides the year he was the playcaller for the best offense in NFL history? Those numbers from Berry (as well as the DVOA’s that Joe C keeps spamming on twitter) are with some of if not the worst QB play in the NFL during that time. Like every stat, there needs to be context and Jets twitter is not giving Gase’s unflattering analytics the context they deserve. Every season Gase started out with an uptempo no huddle offense that he was forced to curtail due to his QB play.
  14. 2019 Head Coach carousel

http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/243446868/matt-rhule-baylor-bears-changes-offense Everyone on the fence with Rhule should check out this article. I thought he had a run heavy scheme based on Baylor’s stats, but based off the quotes in this article it seems like he is willing to cater to his personnel to be as successful as possible.
  15. 2019 Head Coach carousel

I don’t see it happening, but I absolutely think Rex would be the perfect DC option to pair with a young offensive head coach like Kingsbury or Monken. Rex was on ESPN today saying he wants to coach the Jets again, so maybe it could happen. Finding success in NY again as the DC/Assistant HC would surely net him another HC gig.
  16. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

I had the same thought process @jetskid007. I would love to double dip on two young second tier pass rushers in free agency. The only issue is that it’s likely all the top tier rushers don’t see the market, which makes it likely that Fowler/Smith get overpaid.
  17. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

I’m not sure, haven’t been able to find it. Yeap, and he only just turned 26. Washington Redskins Cap Space: $22.9 Million Key Free Agents: Preston Smith, HaHa Clinton-Dix, Jamison Crowder, Adrian Peterson, Pernell McPhee EDIT: Did not realize Crowder was a free agent. The Jets should absolutely be interested in him as well.
  18. 2019 Offseason Preview/FA Rumors

Preston Smith lead the NFL in pass rush pressure rate in 2017. He’s definitely worth a look, as is Za’Darius Smith. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/need-know-its-science-preston-smith-one-nfls-top-pass-rushers%3famp
  19. Jets 2018 Practice Squad

Figured the practice squad deserved their own thread. After not claiming anyone off waivers I think the Jets have actually put together a very intriguing PS, especially the players from other teams. Kaufusi and Joesph have exciting measurables at important positions (LT and Edge), while Burnett and Henderson have flashed NFL ability and seem like scheme fits.
  20. Game 1, 2018: @ Detroit Lions [MNF]

Probably had more to do with Josh Martin being out.
  21. Le'Veon Bell

Not convinced it means anything. The person that runs the Jets IG is probably just some Joe Smoe that knows very little about what the FO is doing until it becomes official.
  22. Game 1, 2018: @ Detroit Lions [MNF]

I think the Jets will really try to come out and run the ball a lot. I could see Bilal Powell having some success on outside zone runs against a defense that really struggles against outside runs in 2017. I’m not sure how many of you follow Matt Waldman on Twitter, but he recently put up a video about how good of a fit Powell is for an outside zone running scheme. Being able to run the ball will go a long way in helping Darnold in his first start.
