  1. Absolutely for Maye. I'd do 2 1sts + for Daniels.
  2. JFC I didn't know this. Wow. I really like Baker or Coker off the top of my head. Roman Wilson is also a lot of fun but I wouldn't take him before the 3rd because of his size and our lack of huge need.
  3. Some reallly good WR's to be had late day 2 early day 3. Burton could be one of them. I read that he has character red flags (?) but I'd definitely take a flier on day 3.
  4. It's so hard to say for any of the QB's that I'd trade multiple FRP for them because of the risk associated. Maye is my favorite personally with Caleb right behind him. I have Jayden ahead of JJ because of experience and how clean his mechanics/scrambling are but JJ may have higher upside so he is just a hair behind him. Personally, I'd trade up for one of Nix/Penix and start them in year 1, then if they suck you hope that a star(s) QB prospect emerges in next year's draft. OR if you could swing a trade for McCarthy I would give up multiple day 2 picks for sure to move up for him.
  5. Fantanu above fuaga for pass pro but otherwise agree.
  6. Aggravated assault from my reading is a felony in Texas and carries 2-20 years? Yikes
  7. I agree with pretty much all of this. I think the issue with Nix is that I don't see the elite playmaking/arm talent to see him become a top 10 QB in the NFL. And if we're not getting that I don't think that's worth drafting until the 2nd round or later (would be happy to get Nix in the 40s but I suspect he will go top 20).
  8. I think investing in the OL makes a lot of sense. We have a pretty good skill position group and I do think the left side of the line is good. Between Munford and the draft, I'd like to have at least 3 OL who could play RG/RT
  9. May not do many more mock drafts because work has been busy. This is what I did. 13. Troy Fautanu: Technician, very clean tackle prospect who I think can even hold his own against elite speed rushers. Long term starter. 44. Penix Jr (or Nix), he was available. I've said enough about him at this point. 77. Renardo Green: nasty, aggressive outside corner who bullied Nabers on the outside. Can be very good in the NFL but needs coaching on his hand use. 112. Blake Corum: can't believe he was there. Amazing quickness, could overshadow Zeus long term. 148. Zak Zinter: A good stash, potentially huge steal long term. 208. Xavier Weaver: Solid depth player at WR if injuries hit. Definitely has decent speed and has shown some savvy. 223. Evan Anderson (DT FAU): Big dude, space eater. At this stage, may as well take a shot on another DT on a rookie deal. 229. JD Bertrand (LB Notre Dame): Multi year notre dame starter at LB. Apparently ran in the 4.6 range, aggressive. Worth a shot at this point in the 7th.
  10. Watching Nix, I have him below Penix. Very different players. Nix is better at creating out of structure and is pretty athletic in his own right. The problem is his offense was insanely gimmicky but when he did throw down the field he looked good doing it. In a way, that was kinda like JJ but he's obviously 3 years older. The problem with Nix is I don't see anything "elite". His arm is good enough but I don't see elite velocity. He can move and throw on the run but neither are exceptional. I think he can be an average starter in the NFL, but I have a hard time seeing a high ceiling with him.
  11. It isn’t a perfect comparison by any means. By hero ball I mean going for the big plays downfield consistently. May be a slight misuse on my part as opposed to Caleb where he will legit attempt (and make) huge throws that are very risky. We’ll see with Penix. I think situation is very important and we could be a good one for him.
  12. GDI. He's a good player, was expecting him to land a big deal elsewhere
  13. Personally I feel like Telesco likes Nix a lot. Don't ask me why.
  14. It's actually interesting that you compare to Derek Carr because I see a lot of Carr in Penix's game. I think the biggest differences are: 1. Penix uses his legs better when he wants to (you saw some nice scrambles against Texas) 2. Penix is more athletic (the 40 time isn't an exaggeration, when he wants to he can move). 3. Penix has a better deep ball (which is saying something because Carr had a wonderful deep ball coming out). 4. Penix evades pressure better. You saw in the Texas game his ability to evade free rushers. I think we would all agree that if Carr scrambled/improvised better and evaded pressure better, he would have been a top-10 passer for sure. Those limitations are the reason that he sadly never ascended to that "upper echelon" of NFL qb's. My qb ranking is: 1a. Maye (the highs are just insane, I'd happily trade 3 1sts + other picks/players to the patriots for him) 1b. Caleb 3. Jayden Daniels (the critiques are valid, but I LOVE his mechanics/throwing motion and I think he can be much more disciplined as a runner at the next level) 4. JJ (his ceiling is very high, he may need time to sit, just a hair below Daniels as a result of that) 5. Penix 6. Nix I am still a little back and forth on Nix/Penix. Nix is a better improviser and has much less of an injury history. I also think he can be had similarly in the mid 1st to mid 2nd. I agree that his signature by far is the deep ball rn. I do think that it is a great complement to AP's "style" of team. If you have a team that is physical up front and can run the football with a tough defense, there is no better complement to that than a guy who consistently can hit the home run. I don't disagree that he was playing with Odunze/Polk on a loaded team. I also don't think he'll have to play as much "hero ball" at the NFL level and I do think he could thrive as a play action/under center qb. My take is I am not "advocating" for us taking Penix at 13. I would much rather get him late 1st/early 2nd. But I would also not blame the FO for taking Nix/Penix at 13 if they feel like they are a potential top 10/franchise qb because it is the most important position in sports.
  15. He's good but I still prefer Johnny Newton.
  16. I think if a qb hits, no one will care where they're taken. If we're taking Penix I'd much rather move down if possible and take him there. But if a QB hits they hit. Value goes out the window at the QB position tbf. It's the only position where I think that's true.
  17. Both had really good receivers but I'm a fan of Penix's arm and feel that his mechanics won't get him into trouble because of how consistent his accuracy is. In the Texas game he actually ran the ball very well and showed his ability to avoid free rushers in the pocket. I'm not saying he's as good as the top few guys but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a top 10-15 passer by any stretch.
  18. Perhaps. There are a few guys I like in round 3 onward like Max Melton but let's see who'll be there.
  19. If there is a way to trade down and get a top OT prospect like Fuaga or Latham, i'd be happy with it. CB is deep enough that we can get one in the 3rd/4th. As long as we get a top OL/CB or trade down if we plan to take a QB, I'll be happy.
  20. I think this is very possible IF the patriots trade down (they should). If they don’t then we are stuck.
  21. The halfway decent qb play is a pretty big question mark tbf. I like minshew but unsure if he’ll move the needle enough.
  22. Yeah I wasn’t thrilled about going OT but he’s a bully and moves incredibly well. I’d be happy with him and then trade up for a qb.
