  1. 2019 Packer Draft Contest

    Of course!
  2. 2019 Packer Draft Contest

    Congrats, @HighCalebR! Well done!
  3. 2019 NFL Draft Day 2 Thread (NO SPOILERS!)

I like Polite. They've stated they want guys who can take the ball away from the offense, and Polite led the nation this year with 6 FF. I know there's much more to the picture than that, but I think that definitely puts him on their radar.

  5. The STL Cardinals Thread - TINSTAAPP

Fwiw, Mark Saxon tweeted that his information was different than this. May not be done yet.
  6. The STL Cardinals Thread - TINSTAAPP

Good point. I think I read that he may not be ready for the beginning of the season. And even if that's true, he could end up either in our bullpen or Memphis' rotation. He'll be a valuable piece for us one way or another at some point this season. Just hoping he can stay healthy.
  7. LaFleur's Lieutenants - Coordinator/Staff Thread

Is the "long tenured" part the key there? I mean, we're keeping Angelichio and Sirmans. It can't be only that he coached under McCarthy.
  8. LaFleur's Lieutenants - Coordinator/Staff Thread

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like being able to teach "the ZBS" is sort of overblown. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that most teams run at least some ZBS. Some run it more than others, but it's not some rare thing that only a few know or understand. If I'm right on that, then this OL coach search (and the related situation with letting Campen go) doesn't come down to "He knows the ZBS" as much as it comes down to overall offensive philosophy. I don't think Campen was let go because he didn't know the ZBS. I think he just had a somewhat different outlook on how to structure and implement the offense than LaFleur does.
  9. The STL Cardinals Thread - TINSTAAPP

Agreed. Not a true fit for the reason you stated, plus the whole "Johnny Hustle" comment. I know that was somewhat overblown, but I don't know that his personality would fit very well either. I'll pass.
  10. LaFleur's Lieutenants - Coordinator/Staff Thread

Just read that Kubiak & the Broncos are parting ways. Think he'd have interest in reuniting with LaFleur?
  11. The STL Cardinals Thread - TINSTAAPP

Not bad at all. Seems very reasonable. I'm curious about the buyout, though. Does that mean that if he doesn't pitch in 110 games, we owe him $2.5M? Or that if he does pitch in 110 games and we decide we don't want him, we can buy out that vested option for $2.5M? Seems weird. I don't think I've ever seen a vesting option and buyout together like that.
  12. The STL Cardinals Thread - TINSTAAPP

I think they still see him as a starter long-term, but want to limit his innings this year.
  13. The STL Cardinals Thread - TINSTAAPP

I actually agree with much of what you said here, but let me clarify a couple of my comments: I didn't mean that he wanted a bigger market than where he is now. I meant he wants a bigger market than STL. I get that that's a very generalized statement. I'm not saying that he wouldn't want to play in STL at all. I just feel like a bigger market would be more appealing to him. Regarding money, you're right...we absolutely have the money to be able to do this if the FO has the desire. And I do believe they have interest. They'd be crazy not to! I just think that there will be one or more other teams who are willing to pony up more cash for Harper than the Cards are.
  14. The STL Cardinals Thread - TINSTAAPP

Haven't been around on here lately, but had to jump back in after the Goldschmidt trade. Like others, I was pleasantly surprised by how (relatively) little we had to give up. And, while I'm obviously hoping we can lock him up long-term, it's nice to know there's a comp pick waiting if he decides to leave. Win-win. I wouldn't say Goldy makes us an instant WS contender, but he definitely makes us significantly better. His bat is an obvious upgrade, and he's got some really good numbers against NL Central teams. Plus, adding his defense at 1B will be a HUGE boost to our team defense. Regarding Harper, he'd certainly look great in this lineup, but I don't see it happening. From his side, I think he craves a bigger market & more exposure. From the team's side, I think they'll explore what it would cost, but I think there will be at least one other team who's willing to pay more.
