I just don't see it. Murphy is NiCE prospect !

     but hardly a slam-dunk.

Sooo many guys, esp OL ahead of him

#9 has to be a dominate decade+ starter

Only Alt & Fashanu are comparable prospects for me...the next few guys are all RT prospects or interior players IMO...

I am also more than happy to run with Braxton at LT given that Caleb should be able to get rid of the ball faster than Fields ever did...

One of those top 3 receivers & maybe Bowers if they love him as a prospect to help Caleb out would be ahead of Murphy for me.

  2. The closer we get to draft day the more I think it's going to be Byron Murphy II at #9 or after a small trade back...people want to talk about his lack of length in this scheme but what I would remind people of is we were linked with Javon Hargrave in FA in 2022 who has 32" arms...this offseason we kicked the tyres on Christian Wilkins before the Raiders paid massively and he has 32'1/2" arms...Murphy has the same sort of length as Wilkins (much bigger hands than both)...as much as Flus loves length he is also a Rod Marinelli guy and those "undersized" penetrating UTs don't grow on trees...given how explosive Murphy is he could be a similar player to the likes of Hargraves, Wilkins or my comp for him Grady Jarrett...if he had that sort of career he would be well worth the pick...

Would love Odunze to complete the three WRs we have as I think he would be an excellent compliment and anything we can do to help Caleb should be front and centre in our minds IMO but I can see why Murphy would make a ton of sense for us.

They began this presentation with a reverend saying a prayer.  He started somewhere along the lines of, “help this city get what it so desperately needs . . . A new football stadium. . .”

Are you ******* kidding me??  A city so plagued by gun and gang violence where there are mass shootings, children aged in the single digits getting shot and killed, **** they haven’t even laid to rest Ofc. Huesca who was executed on his way home from work on Sunday…..and they’re calling on god to “get this city what it so desperately needs”?!?  **** them.  Im not even religious in the least but and i find that absolutely preposterous.  I know this is just a side tangent to the big picture, but i had to rant a bit.

Pay for your own damn stadium.  If they had a good record of paying their debt (they don’t) maybe I’d consider it.  But if i had a vote, id vote no.

I am also not religious at all but I do agree the opening was in really bad taste considering everything else going on in the world let alone that city.

Sorry man, just because you smile at me while you slit my throat doesnt mean youre still a good guy

None of these teams NEED new stadiums, so were getting off on the wrong foot right there.

I just can't agree man...like I said nothing in his past would suggest he isn't going to be a man of his word...

I also think the Bears desperately need a new stadium...

But hey let's see how it plays out...it's about all we can do hahaha

I mean, Im glad for you that you can still have this kind of outlook. But nothing they have done at this point makes me think they want to "help the city". Its all about the business, and if avoiding red tape is better for the business at this time, thats what they will do. Warren is a business man, not some community savior. Hes just very good at the relationship side, hes not doing this for free.

I still dont believe a single thing until shovel hits dirt

I agree it is business...of course Warren wants the Bears to come out this looking great and making plenty of money...I just don't believe he will step on people to do so...now if it was anyone else without a track record I would be cynical as hell about all of this...but I look at what he did in Minnesota and it holds weight with me...of course it could all go wrong and one or all parties don't get what they want out it...but I am willing to air on the side of being positive given his past.

    Do you actually believe this?

On this I actually do...they could have leveraged the city to get Arlington to do what they wanted...yes it would have taken more time but it would have eventually happened...I honestly believe that the ownership & Warren want to be in Chicago...I also don't think anything in Warren's history say he wants to bend anyone over...I think he believes in business where everyone comes out of it with something...will never be exactly equal but I think he sees a legacy here rather than just lining pockets.

Still don't know how people are going to get there. You are pushing the stadium further south which would make even walking there more difficult and longer. There are still no bars, restaurants and the parking and road access remain much the same.

This must be a culture thing...stadiums in Europe very rarely having parking around them...part of the game day experience over here is you walk to the stadium with your mates and talk about what you think is going to happen or what you want to see...wouldn't feel the same just getting out a car and being right on the doorstep hahaha

  8. 72% of all funding coming from the Bears/NFL themselves means the majority of the profits should go back to the Bears...

Truth be told I think the Ownership & Warren don't want to be greedy and own the fully stadium...listening to Warren he sees this as something bigger than a stadium...he clearly wants to help the city and for me I would rather a City got some benefits from it that putting more money into the pockets of billionaires.

I am not saying ALL 23 years olds are stronger than ALL 19 year olds.  Why would you think I would make that argument?

I am saying the males of our species are bigger and stronger at 23 than at 19 generally speaking.

Everyone agrees with this or they should.  It is a fact.

Of course there are variables.  If you work out at 19 and don't at 23 that matters.

But we are talking in context of collegiate and professional athletes so that isn't really case is it?

Okay dude…no point continuing this 👍🏻

  10. I was really thinking about Cunningham following the media availability…I have a strong suspicion Poles moves a day two pick from next years draft to gain some more picks in this and the reason I am confident on it isn’t that we have a lot of picks next year already but that I think Poles plays the odds that if we are a winning team this season then Cunningham is a GM somewhere next and we get the 2x 3rds for him…

Clearly a really smart important part of the front office…it’s good to get him locked down.

Interesting stats regarding hit/miss rates for 1st round picks between 2000/19. This was based on whether a 2nd contract was signed with the drafting team.

I wonder how much this will come into Poles thinking? Don’t get me wrong I think all three of the top receivers are going to be pros for a long long time but it is interesting none the less.

Are men more athletic when they are 19 or 23?

Generally speaking. Assuming they work out at both ages?

Do I really have to explain this?  This is a silly conversation.

I mean your right is is silly but only from your side my friend…

Different people with different genetics and body compositions will peak at different times…for example a 35 year old body builder is probably stronger than a 19 year old because of time on task…but a 19 gymnast or tennis player is probably more athletic than a 35 year old one…

Trying to say that all 23 year olds are stronger than all 19 year olds is crazy…if that was the case why would NFL teams not just draft accordingly? Far far more goes into it than age.

What I said is not controversial.   It is fact.  23>19 for men - Bigger, stronger, faster.

That's it.  That was my point.  So judging a 23 year old college player is more difficult to project to next level.

Men are bigger, stronger, faster than women too.

This is all generally speaking.  Exceptions to anything.

I mean a 19 year old elite athlete is probably going to be stronger than a 23 year old soon to be gym teacher...

It is certainly not a fact that most 23 year olds are bigger, stronger & faster than most 19 year olds...genetics just flat out don't work like that...

Blake Corum is not bigger, stronger or faster than Braelon Allen for example.

The timing of this is interesting.  That said, i wonder if this will be an actual announcement or if they’ll just say “This is our primary focus now” and show some 3d renderings of what it would look like, still giving them an out if they want to pivot back to AH.

Giving the timing of it I would at least expect to see renderings of the surrounding area like we saw with Arlington Heights...hopefully we see what their vision is for the stadium...

As much as a publicly owned stadium isn't what anyone wanted it is a massive boost for the city of Chicago as a whole.

Been seeing Newton with a ton of the Jarrett comps

I don't think Newton is as stout as the POA as Jarrett or Murphy is...

I think Newton is a tough comparison...as a pass rusher maybe Justin Madubuike...but I don't think he is anywhere near as good a run defender.

So many people saying Murphy is the man.  Brugler, Hoge, like 4 other draft guys on Twitter.

I am just not seeing a star player at NFL level based on games I watched.  If we take him, I hope I am wrong.

I think Murphy could be worth the 9th overall pick...I think he is right there with Verse & Turner as the best defender in this class and playing in this scheme at UT would be far better for him that what he was asked to do in college...

That said I think if Murphy is the best player on the board at #9 then one of the four QBs are still on the board and at that point I think we would need to look to move back...potentially we could move back to #12 or #13 and still get Murphy/Verse...I also wonder how much work we have done on the like of Thomas or Worthy because I would also have no issue with trading down a good bit further and then taking one of those other WRs who could add real speed on the outside...again everything should be able helping Caleb first then build out from there and if you can pick up more picks to help the defence later in the draft and still get Caleb a talented #3 receiver then that would make sense...

Still wish one of the top 3 receivers gets to #3 because these guys are proper game changers.
