  1. I am starting to settle into the idea of Chase or Pitts. Chase is a bonafide WR1 while Pitts is really special. That said, I was watching some Sewell tape today and I really hope he falls to us.. Having a dominant OL would make everyone stand out on offense.
  2. I do not think there is anyway of knowing if Suh would have stayed. That said, Ebron is one of the worst picks of the last 10 years.. Cannot stand him.
  3. I do not think Suh was interested in staying personally.
  4. You are certainly right there. My guess is that his first two seasons were skewed toward the best of Jared while the last two years were skewed toward the worst of Jared. If he can find some consistency right in the middle of these two versions, we will still have a very capable QB to work with. But yes, hope for the best, prepare for the worst... This is what we as Lions fans must always do. 😆
  5. I really think this matches up with what Holmes and MCDC have said in that, they just want Goff to play quarterback and not worry about being some sort of savior. This lends credence to the idea that building a team is more important to than having one great player. Also very important for everyone to keep in mind, it is not as though Goff is without talent, intellect, or experience. Granted he did have some regression the last couple of years, but maybe just maybe, it wasnt all his fault 😊
  6. Another stroke of genius here by Holmes/MCDC. Liking what we are seeing so far..
  7. I feel like LA is already picking up the dead hit as we are for Stafford, but I certainly do not have a full understanding of cap workings.
  8. What if, they are trying to trade Goff? That would be something.
  9. I think you nailed it here. It is also so critical to look at the success that the Rams and Saints have had with mid/late round picks over the last 5 years or so as well. Holmes/MCDC either had a huge hand in those selections, or were right there along the way in MCDCs case. They are confident in their ability to find equal or greater talent with the comp picks we ultimately get. This is how I see it anyway.
  10. I think this is the plan. They have both spoken to building through the draft to produce the core of a team. I do not think we will be going hard for any game changers in FA this year... Could totally be wrong though.
  11. Yeah, I do not see the vikings ponying up to pay him. Stranger things have happened, but they already have Jefferson/Theilen and a qb who is just good enough to keep you at 8-8/9-7. There defense has oles all around as well. Given the reduced cap, no way they afford to pay Kenny. I really do not think anyway.
  12. I like Kenny G, but not at the price he will command in the open market, and certainly not for our rebuilding team. I could care less if he signs in the division.. He is good, not great. This is my personal opinion of course.
  13. If Pitts checks out in the speed/agility drills, I can be on board with his selection. I am so torn right bow of this draft and really itching to get some drill times and medicals in for so many players given we didnt get the combine. I really want to see what the lbers look like too.
  14. OJ is a very interesting case study to say the least. I think what this all goes back to is yes, football accomplishments are what the hall was originally designed for. That said, we now live in an age where every action, social media post, etc is scrutinized amd dissected. It seems to me that the nfl should probably look to update the bylaws on entry to include character and off the field works to align with the times, since voters are considering those factors anyway. As for OJ, I would probably agree with Buck.
  15. You really just extrapolated on what I was saying. While the guidelines are stats only, character will always be considered by voters.
  16. Good research there. My biggest objection to this is that yes, the bylaws state that on field achievements are the sole criteria, but the people still have to be voted in. The voters will always consider character subconsciously or otherwise when casting. Going back to TO, he should have been a first ballet inductee with out question, yet he waited 5 years to get in... The bylaws seem more like guidelines to me.
  17. I think character goes a long way in voters mind's, which is why it took TO so long to get in. From a stat perspective, Brown is probably a HOFer in my mind, but it is going to take voters years to remember that because he spent the last few years in the media for all the wrong reasons. In Calvin's case, all voters remember is his dominance and humble self. Those kind of people will always get in before folks like AB.
  18. Good points here. I would agree that longevity is part of the equation, but it is not like Calvin played for just a few years. He was around for 9 years. But to answer your question, I do not really think there is any set amount of years someone would need to play. Terrell davis really only had three years of production and made it in. Not a first ballot player, but in none the less. At the end of the day, the folks who vote thought he was worthy.
  19. I think it is important to remember Calvin's impact on the game of football when discussing his entry. Sure Reggie had more years playing and stats because if it, but Calvin caused defenses to have to cover him differently than any other receiver to play the game. He was hands down the best receiver during the years in which he played.. Those are the reasons he made it as a first ballot HOFer despite years played and stats accrued.
  20. Maybe so, but these are not reasons to wish ill on the family in my opinion..
  21. I am very happy about this. Not only did we secure great draft capital, but we got younger at QB. Stafford is better than Goff overall, but Goff is a good QB. Also, I am from and live in Southern CA so I will likely see more of Stafford this year than I have his whole career. Lol
  22. I am starting to get onboard the Mac train. Mentioned in Karnage's mock that he is very Brees like to me (size difference of course). If we do bypass any of the remaining big 4 Qbs at 7, I think we would need to take him prior to New England's pick. I am still firmly in the Lance at 7 camp though.. I like that dudes game.
  23. Why the eff not? We have a green DC. Nice to have an established mind to bounce ideas off of.
