  1. Week 14: VIKINGS (8-4) vs. Lions (3-8-1)

    Still saying Vikings. 36-6.
  2. Week 14: VIKINGS (8-4) vs. Lions (3-8-1)

We need to have the attitude that playoffs are where we need to win, not beating teams that will be picking within the first hour of the draft. My point wasn’t that it was meaningless in the grand scheme of things (probably should have been more specific) but in terms of Thielen returning, this is not the game I would do it. Unless it was very sparingly.
  3. Week 14: VIKINGS (8-4) vs. Lions (3-8-1)

Why start Thielen here? A meaningless game that we should dominate. This one should never be in doubt, and if we are for most of the game, or the football gods frown upon us and we lose this game.... then we don’t deserve to be in the playoffs. Let him shake off the rust in a game prior to Green Bay. Thielen is a special talent. It shouldn’t take long to discard whatever rust may plague him later in the year.
  4. Week 14: VIKINGS (8-4) vs. Lions (3-8-1)

That’s a good point. But a point that I find myself putting less and less trust in each year. I too used to use that as a basis for many of my arguments in any sports debate but if you’re 10-2, and destroy the Packers (though I think they’re overrated, they are still one of the top 5 in the NFC) and play the Ravens as well as they did, even in a loss, then they are worthy of exemption from the usual “who have they played” argument. And Seattle didn’t play the Ravens nearly as well and competitively as San Francisco did. It doesn’t really matter who played who, or who beat whom. They are interchangeable in terms of placement at the top 3 of the NFC. At least imo. It goes Seattle, SF, and NO. Then Minnesota and Green Bay, followed by whoever else. Unless our defense magically goes back to their 2017 selves for the rest of the year and we go on a 2008 Arizona Cardinals type run, I just can’t see us beating teams like New Orleans, San Francisco, or Seattle. And it isn’t even because of Cousins. He along with the running game and the O Line actually give me a decent level of comfort. It’s everything that we are supposed to, and have been good at for the last few years. We are VERY meh on that side of the ball. If our defense was on point, I believe we would defeat any of these NFC teams standing in our way. But the fact of the matter is they’re not, and I don’t see it changing.
  5. Week 14: VIKINGS (8-4) vs. Lions (3-8-1)

Not to sour your enthusiasm but the best teams in the league also beat other good teams. Of which we have yet to do. I think we have a pretty good team but we’re not on the same level as the Saints, Seahawks or 49ers. One of those three are going to the Super Bowl. If we happen to pull off a 2008 Cardinals run then that’d be the only way I see this team making it that far.
  6. 2020 Draft Talk

My personal belief is that we should spend a 1st round and a 3rd pick on the OL. With how Cousins has been playing, which has very much surprised me (in a good way), keeping him upright along with our running game, we should hit the ground running for years to come. Barring injury of course. The DT and CB can be found in the 2nd and 3rd round as well. I just put higher priority on the O Line
  7. Jockeying for the Playoffs

I have actually been pleasantly surprised by the OL improvement. That’s just me though. If we spend high value picks on the OL in this draft (preferably 1st and a 3rd rounders), I can see Cousins getting even better
  8. Jockeying for the Playoffs

The week 2 game is far different from the impending matchup later on. As for Green Bay though, they don’t seem to have changed much. Their defense is a tad better but even that is overrated. I still respect Rodgers but he doesn’t scare me nearly like he used to. I honestly don’t think Packers would have lasted one quarter against Seattle last night. Not intending to compare losing efforts lol but I don’t really feel threatened by Green Bay. It’s a rivalry game so those are always fun; I just feel we are a more complete and far more capable team. We will see though.
  9. 2019 Cornerback Coffee Talk, no big whoop...

We still have to play Rhodes because Zimmer is too loyal to underperforming player(s). At least in that case. Literally every single game, I look to see where Rhodes is. Every time. I want to see which no name receiver is going to be on ESPN the next day for having a career day against that shell of a once great player. Now turned liability. A full on one. The longer he is out there and playing, the more capable and confident an offense is. From what I’ve seen, (correct me if I’m wrong) but most teams have even veered away from Hughes in order to attack Rhodes. What does he have to do for Zimmer to bench him? What is he getting out of this except exhibiting a portrayal of obvious stubbornness. 2nd or 3rd round should be a defensive back. After O Line and D line are addressed... We could have Hughes, Alexander and Hill (assuming we don’t resign Wayne’s), and then have a rookie to get the 4th spot. That’s just how I see it.
  10. Week 14: VIKINGS (8-4) vs. Lions (3-8-1)

Vikings Win. 36 - 6. Anything else is unacceptable.
  11. Jockeying for the Playoffs

We have to come out on top in games like the one last night. We can settle for acceptance of competing well, but we were given opportunities to pry the game away and in our favor and we still couldn’t get it done. I’m not looking forward to the playoffs because there are at least 3 teams that I cannot see THIS Vikings team beating: Seahawks, 49ers and Saints. If they prove me wrong then I’ll happily eat my words. As of right now though, our attempt at a playoff run is certainly going to end early, imo. Im not worried about Green Bay. As far as I’m concerned, they are an annoying wannabe deterrence in our path to the post season. I feel very confident against them. If we do play them in the playoffs, I feel really good about it. Overall this team has surprised me in ways that I did not expect. I can’t complain about Cousins for the majority of this year. He’s played very well. His performance last night was exactly what I wanted to see but the performance of the rest of the team (defense, though they weren’t terrible, there were significant holes that a 2015-2018 Vikings defense wouldn’t have at least fixed to some degree) did not retain the momentum that the offense gave us. At this moment Kirk Cousins and the O-line have exceeded my expectations. Did Clowney have a sack? It is just so frustrating that when we do acquire such a potent offense and more than reliable QB play, our defense decides to s*** the bed most of the time. Barely getting that pass off to Rudolph near the sideline while being crushed was a thing of beauty. He excelled even without Thielen, Cook being lost early into the 3rd, and his starting LT. He has proven me wrong this year and I only hope that level of play will continue. Complaints/Concerns? Rhodes. Some Coaching. Penalties not called. I get some penalties not being called in the heat of the game but how does a guy get mugged and there is no flag?
  12. Week 13: VIKINGS (8-3) at Seahawks (9-2)

We have pieces in place and a few good things to look forward to, but we just aren’t good enough to compete with the elite NFC teams. If we make the playoffs we won’t do much. But I’ve been saying this. I can still hope though.
  13. Week 13: VIKINGS (8-3) at Seahawks (9-2)

Why does Zimmer HAVE to keep playing Rhodes?
  14. Week 13: VIKINGS (8-3) at Seahawks (9-2)

What happened? He took a hard fall but did you see something?
  15. Week 13: VIKINGS (8-3) at Seahawks (9-2)

Playing better so far. Playing better defense than we did against Dallas... ugh. I was scared of that. Let’s hope this level of play continues.
