  1. I want to win the division badly. I'd rather win the division at 9-7 than be a wild card at 10-6 (unless we beat the division winner in the playoffs in this scenario). I just want to look down at the rest of the division since it's usually their fans that are always clowning our team.

  2. Chubb is easily one of my favorite Browns. In one of the BTB episodes I liked when someone mentioned fumbles and he said something like, "We don't speak of that word around here." The dude didn't fumble once which shows how good his concentration is.

However, as much as I love him, I don't think 1600 yards rushing is attainable for him. With Freddie and Monken installing more air raid concepts (and the receiving weapons we have), I think we will be passing the ball quite often. Duke will take some carries and then Hunt will later on in the season. I think 1200-1300 yards is more realistic, IMO.

  3. You guys seriously have no sense of appreciation and enjoyment of greatness.

I ABSOLUTELY miss that rivalry. It was pretty awesome even if mostly one-sided - the hype leading up to 2 of the greatest QBs ever playing against each other was memorable. 20 years from now I'll remember how it was - won't be able to get that time back. Younger generations won't know. I just don't understand why people get tired of something like that.

But then I'm a big Brady fan. I was a big Peyton fan when he played. I'm a big Brees/Rodgers/whoever else is/was a damn good player fan. I love elite play and watching elite play. And I hope there are intense rivalries in the future - whether it's Brady vs. Mahomes or Mahomes vs. Whoever or Whoever vs. Whoever.

    I can't hate on greatness.

  4. I think we need CB depth but honestly it doesn't concern me all that much. I think Terrance Mitchell is a pretty solid #2 CB who filled it nicely for Ward when Ward was out. TJ Carrie wasn't good but he managed as well. Randall can also fill in from time to time (though it's not the best way to utilize him) especially since we got Murray + Burnett.

Don't get me wrong, it's a need. I just don't know if I'd spend a high draft pick on it unless it was a can't-miss guy. We can fill out our DBs with late/undrafted picks and cheap, prove-it deals to guys in FA with potential. The upgraded D-Line should help out our secondary for sure.

If injury (to Ward) is what you're concerned about when prioritizing our CBs then you should seriously be worried about our O-Line depth.

O-Line, LBs, and DBs in that order for me. I'd also like us to look at some defensive linemen in later rounds or get undrafted high-potential guys as well.

  5. I could be wrong but I just don't think Jackson is going to be a decent NFL QB.

His accuracy is horrid. People (Baltimore fans) excuse it by saying it's due to his mechanics and he'll improve, but I don't think something like that happens easily. He has to have ~natural~ accuracy being hindered by poor mechanics and I just don't see that ~natural~ accuracy.

He's decisive which is good, but he's also a one-read QB. Doesn't progress through his reads.

Extremely inconsistent altogether when it comes to passing and that's with the fact that his legs are a huge threat. If he ever tries to deliver from the pocket more and his legs are less of a threat, defenses will play the pass better.

Idk, I just don't see it at all. Half of the Ravens fan base seem to be skeptical as well, while the other half are just overly optimistic about him (at least that's what I see on Reddit). Not that I'm upset - I hope they go all in on Lamar.

I see a lot of ppl counting the rams as a loss. I think that will be a big win. It’s going to be the first big time prime time game in a long time, what since 2009 I think vs the Ravens.

I see it being a very hostile place for the Rams.

If the Browns come into that game 2-0, I think it might be the most electric the stadium has ever been because if the browns go 3-0 with a statement game, it will show they are not pretenders.

    It's possible.

That's the beauty of this team - I think we have a shot at winning vs. any team in the league.

IMO, I don't think we beat the Pats AND Rams and I just think we have a better chance against the Pats. Yes, even though they won the Super Bowl, they're on a slow decline and are usually at their best in the playoffs. We'll be coming off a bye week as well.

Also, Aaron Donald scares me and he's the type of player that can make Baker have an awful game. JC and even Bitonio will likely get mauled by that dude.

  7. Week 1 --  Titans = Win - I predict a blowout - not because the Titans are bad, but because I think our D-Line will be fresh (like last year vs. Pittsburgh) and the Titans O-Line isn't great. The anticipation will be huge @ home for us and our energy will be insane. Just don't think the Titans win this game. Maybe a slow start (13-10 at halftime), but our guys get it together and win 33-13.

Week 2 --  at Jets = Win - Same thing - Jets O-Line is bad but I do think their defense and home crowd will make this tough. But the Browns are the better team and will win 24-21

Week 3 -- Rams = Loss - I think Baker will have a bad game with the interior pass rush from Donald. Nationally televised on SNF, this is the game where people question whether or not the Browns are the ~real deal~. Browns lose 17-31.

Week 4 -- at Ravens = Win - Winning in Baltimore is never easy but by this time Lamar Jackson won't be the scary weapon that he was last year. Browns overcome the Ravens 27-14 in Baltimore.

Week 5 -- at 49ers = Loss - It's MNF again but this time the favored 3-1 Browns fall yet again. Baker has a decent game but the 49ers are just playing their best game. 49ers win in a nailbiter, 24-23.

Week 6 -- Seahawks = Loss - Can it be 2-straight losses? You bet! Browns lose the time of possession game to a Seahawks team that is strong in the running game. Baker plays well but just doesn't have many opportunities. The Browns defense shows cracks. Browns lose 14-24.

    Week 7 -- Bye

Week 8 -- at Patriots = Win - Just a 3-3 team, questions arise. People are thinking the Browns are overrated and the Pats are favored to win in Foxborough. Instead, the Browns show the world the potential and capability that they have. Coming fresh off the bye they storm the Patriots 21-6 in the first half. The game slows down and NE gets starts to come back, but it's not enough and the Browns close the game 34-27.

Week 9 -- at Broncos = Loss - The young Browns are high and confident after defeating the Pats and lose sight of a tough team to beat at Miles High stadium. Denver wins this game on the strength of their defense and special teams, 26-21.

Week 10 -- Buffalo = Win - The Browns, at 4-4, begin the turnaround of their season with the destruction of a much weaker Bills team. It's Baker's best game of the year and the Browns come out on top 41-16

Week 11 -- Steelers = Win - Perhaps the best game against the Steelers in recent memory (not quite like the surprise beatdown about 4 years ago with Hoyer I think), the Browns execute well and beat their rivaled giant for the first time in years on TNF. Browns win 38-24

Week 12 -- Dolphins = Win - Can we make it 3 games in a row? Absolutely. The 2-9 Dolphins revert to full tank mode and the Browns are like a train picking up steam. Are the Browns finally figuring it out? Another wallop, with the Browns winning 31-7

Week 13 -- at Steelers = Loss - Just as the Browns fans are at an all-time high, it comes crashing down with a stark reminder that the Steelers are still our nemesis. The Steelers manage to steal this game on what should have been a win for the Browns, on the backs of some big plays by Ben Roethlisberger. Browns lose 17-27

Week 14 -- Bengals = Win - First game against the Bengals this year is pretty intense. They start off with a 17-3 lead, strongly motivated by the wrecking they received last year (yes, they still remember). But the Browns are simply the better team and deliver a smooth and explosive comeback to win this game 35-31.

Week 15 -- at Cardinals = Win - Kyler Murray vs. Baker? Yezzzir. Exciting to see them on the field but that's kinda where it ends. Browns take the Cardinals to the shed in Arizona with another explosive output (starting to put it together!) to win 37-13

Week 16 -- Ravens = Win - Will the Ravens get their revenge? Nope. The five-win Ravens aren't a strong team at this point, with Lamar being injured for some games and RG3 filling in for some. Browns get a solid win, 28-10

Week 17 -- at Bengals = Loss - Believe it or not, the division is won in week 16. The 5-10 Ravens, 7-8 Bengals, 8-7 Steelers, and 10-5 Browns shape it out. Baker rests this game and we see a decent Bengals team win this game, 30-17.

Browns final regular season - wins the division to earn a playoff birth, and finishes 10-6.

  8. Let's see...

Brian Robiskie - thought he was gonna be really good. The sad part about it is it took me awhile to realize he just wasn't good. You know you're way off when you start blaming other aspects because you believe so much in an individual.

Peyton Hillis - Thought he was gonna do it for multiple years

Gary Baxter - I was hyped. But the injury curse struck (my goodness we've endured so much awful luck)

There's many, many others... including being all in on the Brady Quinn train. I was at work during the 2007 draft and when we took Quinn I couldn't contain myself. I was ALL IN on Quinn. Man did he suck.

Ever been caught on someone because of their name? I wasn't a huge fan of Syndric Steptoe but I had high hopes of his ability to return punts because... his name is Steptoe! Lol, dark times man.

But it's all good now. Because I have never, ever, ever been into a player as much as I am into Baker. I watched hours of film (not highlights) of all top 5 QBs - Baker, Allen, Rosen, Darnold, Jackson back in January 2018. And I was BLOWN AWAY by what I saw in Baker. I wanted him above all the other QBs and I wanted him #1 overall. I went on a crusade for Baker to my friends and family, and posted my desire to take Baker on other message boards.

    And I was right! :D

How could someone not like Duke Johnson? He was our best and only playmaker during our 0 & 1 win seasons.

I imagine the multiple complaints about a lack of touches can rub people the wrong way. It may have been tolerated while we were 1-31 but when we're winning (last year) and he's still complaining, it isn't a great look.

It's warranted for sure - I hope he's able to be happy and get the touches he deserves on another team, but he has become someone I'm not crazy about keeping as we move forward.

He's a great pass catching RB both out of the backfield and in the slot, and he's smart and valuable in pass protection as well. He's got definite value in this niche role, but with the Hunt signing and OBJ trade that will undoubtedly move Jarvis Landry into the slot full time, Duke was immediately expendable unfortunately. I hope that the Browns are able to get some type of Chubb insurance policy while Hunt serves his 8 games, even if it's someone like a CJ Anderson type.

I'm quite confident in Dontrell Hilliard (but that's just me).

We could also pick up Spencer Ware or one of the other FA RBs, or draft one late in the draft.

It shouldn't take much to succeed in this offense. With the weapons we have, RBs aren't a major concern. You look at three other explosive offenses (Chiefs/Steelers/Patriots) and you'll see that they are able to insert and swap out RBs like pokemon cards. We all know about the Pats and their RBs, but the Chiefs have had a ton themselves and all have done well. Steelers went from Bell to Conner to Washington without skipping a beat.

Browns will be fine. If we're talking injuries, we'll be in even bigger trouble if other positions (QB, O-Line, D-Line) are hit with injuries.

He's not slow. The tape will tell you as much.

    He's not fast either.

There's this perception that Duke is just a speedy guy just because he's smaller and catches the ball well but it's simply not true. Duke has never, EVER been the downhill guy that fires off with speed. There were times when I would get frustrated because I see how much yardage he's leaving on the field because he's too busy dancing.

I won't take away from his skillset - extremely elusive and I'm always confident he'll make that first guy miss. His hands are pretty amazing too and his route running is great for a RB. But he's not explosive because he's lacking speed. Agility and speed are not the same thing.

  12. I like Dontrell Hilliard a lot a lot. He has more burst than Duke.

Not saying he's better or anything but I think he can mitigate the loss of Duke.

Contrary to popular opinion - Duke is not explosive at all. He's not even that fast. His talent lies in his hands (obviously) and how shifty/elusive he is. He makes guys miss in open space, but rarely will he put on the jets and take one to the house.

Hilliard is more that kind of guy and has shown the ability to be elusive and catch the ball as well. I think we might have a bit of a gem in Hilliard... and the best part about it? He won't be complaining about a lack of touches or demanding targets.

We'll trade Duke - maybe bring in a guy like Spencer Ware to back up Chubb and utilize Hilliard as our 3rd RB/pass catcher until Hunt returns.

RBs grow on trees - we'll be fine.

imo, You don't do it for the benefit of the player per se but you do it (be guarded publicly that is) for the benefit of the other players in the locker room who might wonder "Damn... Duke sacrifices for the team, keeps his head down and works, leads despite being disappointed about his usage, is a good guy, and Dorsey is going to talk about him and put him out there like that when Kareem's a beast but be hittin females... sh*t it's a business but I'm not going to lie that's F-ed up"....

If you think players don't pay attention when the duke stuff is a national headline on social media, ESPN and everywhere else... you'd be mistaken.

Then, fan's are stressin Duke out on Twitter.. MKC and reporters calling duke up for comment... fans monitoring his reactions to stuff ... Duke was out to eat with Chad Thomas, Chris Hubbard, and Kirko and commented "tiresssd of this craziness" ... you don't think Kirko and Hubbard noticed and felt for him.

I'm just saying the players know it's a business, but it was not the ideal way to handle the situation publicly.

It doesn't take genius to sign kareem hunt by the way. Just low tolerance for off the field stuff. I give credit where it is due. Vernon, OBJ... Amazing... Duke stuff not well handled publicly.

I hear what you're saying, but I think there's a good side to it. Dorsey didn't shut down rumors - sucks for some players like Duke for sure but it's a business. If Dorsey came out and shut down those rumors then traded Duke, how does that make the players feel? When the public is constantly asking questions about rumors, then there's nothing he can do to keep it from being public unless he lie about it.

You can't be short-sighted. The plan is to build something strong and a GM has to have the confidence and respect by the players. His integrity is important.

By doing it the way he's doing it, if Dorsey comes out and says, "We're not trading player X." then the Browns players and fan-base will believe it fully. Unlike Gettleman who swore up and down they didn't sign Odell to trade him and doesn't appear to know what he's doing or have a clear plan (if you feel you gotta convince everyone you have a plan... then you don't have a plan).

Maybe Duke is stressed or upset and maybe Kirksey is frustrated or whatever but if Duke's gonna be traded then it's only a temporary situation you have to deal with. Gotta maintain integrity and build for the long-term.

If ppl think, no achilles or no knee movement skills Eric Berry or foot in sand no discipline Morgan Burnett or even worse Mike Mitchell are better than Kindred then you lot are delusional and only name scouting.

I saw no harm in keeping him as a two deep average starter in the event that our rookie struggles year 1.

We'll see how it goes. After seeing some more concepts on the defensive schemes run by Wilks, I don't think the standard box-safety is good for his style. Someone like Morgan Burnett or Tre Boston fit those concepts a lot better than Derrick Kindred.

Then burn a high pick (2nd or 3rd) in the draft on a coverage safety who excels in zone concepts and there's our depth right there. Let them battle it out in camp.

  15. I've never gotten the flu (and so I've never gotten the flu shot) and I'm 31.

However, this year will be the first year I get the flu shot. It's not just for my sake, but for others as well. You can easily 'catch/carry' it and not really be impacted by it, but spread it to other people who are more vulnerable.

Looks like he deleted the tweet.

I still think this was a savvy signing by Buddy Boy.  It's gonna be pretty d@mn hard to make this team as a WR, though.

The real question is... who is Buddy Boy? Is it Dorsey, or is it Baker?

    Just something to think about.
