Well the KR has pretty much been abolished but if he could make a "Devin Hester" type impact on PRs a case could be made. Of course he'd have to be MUCH MUCH better then the 2nd best PRr that is able to contribute in other ways. Then if he does become as good as Hester, teams can just kick it out of bounds. Now you have a useless player on the roster. Not poo pooing the idea. I just don't know how effective he could be as strictly a PR specialist.

Nah, i get what you're saying and the harsh reality is, you're right.  I'm sure he's a camp body to 'pose' competition against other potential roster makers at the position.  Reality is, he isn't going to make the roster or the practice squad because there are more worthy players.  Trey Johnson I'd like to see make it at least on the Practice Squad as a DB.

Also, Cam Sutton can return punts. I forgot about him.

Tomlin is stubbornly against using defensive players on returns.

Henderson is a guy you bring in knowing what he can give you at worse; return ability. But he’s a guy you hope will take to coaching and can give you more. If he does great, if not, it’s a skill set that you can easily find (returns).

Well if true, there isn't any logic to it. MAYBE you could make the point that the Defensive player is just getting off the field and could be winded but you'd think you'd just put the best at it back there unless it's your best player. Oh wait.....

From what I’ve read his logic is that as a defensive player they aren’t used to handling the ball so the likelihood of a fumble or bobble is higher than the offensive player who is used to it.

I mean...it makes sense...unless that guy has been doing it a long time.

So by that logic, Tomlin would have kept Deon off of PR duty. It only makes sense if it's true. Some Defensive players have great hands (not that I think you agree with Tomlin).

Oh I think it’s stupid. A good returnman is a good returnman.

Personally I hope Henderson does make the roster. I think there are areas that you can easily cut a guy that being at wide receiver with Justin Hunter who I don't think adds a ton to our team and at defensive back with Coty Sensabaugh who I think adds nothing to our secondary that we covet. If I had to choose between the two of them I would really prefer Sensabaugh not be on the roster when the regular season arrives. I also think Fitzgerald Toussaint had very little to our team and that's another area I wouldn't mind seeing ice make a cut and in fact given the fact that we drafted Samuels I expect Toussaint not to make the roster

Sorry but pet peeve here:

can we stop calling UDFA and Rookie Mini Camp pickup guys “players”. He he had a shot at being a “player” he wouldn’t have been available. I feel like every year there’s a 6/7th round guy and 2-3 UDFAs that people say is a player, can contribute, etc; and we never end up hearing from them. The odds are so low.

Yes we got a few guys that way (Brown, Villy, Foster, Debo, Kiesel) but it doesn’t mean it’s a lock to happen yearly.

I kind of feel the same way. I am excited about Matthew Thomas but he's getting a lot of hype. I could easily see him losing out to LJ Fort.

Who has scouting reports/film on the two guys we just signed to the 90??  Prince, the OT, looks like a player.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you @warfelg... I will correct my error...

Who has scouting reports/film on the two guys we just signed to the 90??  Prince, the OT, looks like an interesting prospect that has some interesting size stats and did something to impress the staff enough to want to take a longer look at him.  I only ask since he is 6'6" 320 and compares his play to La'el Collins.  Didn't know if anyone had a better read on him than that.

Patterson, the WR from Youngstown, came in as JAG to me.  6', 190.. 4.5.  Wonder what he did to get a shot...

Thomas is going to make the roster, that's almost a forgone conclusion for two reasons.  #1, he probably would've been a day 2 pick at worst if not for the off field issues and past shoulder injuries.  He has the talent to beat out probably anyone at ILB on our roster, potentially including Vince Williams.  He is a player.  He'll be a player on the 53 man roster.
