Darious Williams really was an interesting pickup for our UDFA class. When UAB's football program disbanded (This.), he received offers from Troy, Southern Miss, and South Alabama but decided to stay at the school just as a student. So he had a two year hiatus from football after his first year and then came back and just dominated, you won't see many cases like his.

The similarities to Tavon Young are also interesting-

William's path to our roster is an arduous one. First, the team would need to carry 7 corners, as 1.Jimmy Smith 2.Marlon Humphrey 3.Tavon Young 4.Maurice Canady 5. Brandon Carr and 6.Anthony Averett are all roster locks. Second, he needs to convince the team he is more valuable than Jaylen Hill. Or as valuable, so when Hill likely gets stashed on PUP to start the season, Williams will still be mind.

I'm excited to see him play, but a smart guess is we see plenty of time for our offense during the pre season lol. Our defense is deep and teams won't be able to sustain drives against us. Even with Humphrey, Smith, Carr, and Canady not seeing much time, our EDGE group is too deep for the opposition. With how many audition snaps Darious Williams will get, while we guard our many established corners from unnecessary injury risk, it actually makes sense why he chose to sign with us despite our stacked CB group. We'll see a ton of Averett and he throughout the pre season.
