It certainly was the pick to make at the time. The Ponder one we can certainly all agree was a bad pick even at the time, as they should have either waited or traded back. Even more impressive, they only have 2 players older than 30: Robison (35) and Newman (39), who are expected to play only as backups and rotationally. Their oldest starters are Sendejo and Griffen: 30 turning 31 later this year. PFR uses ages at the end of the calendar year. Current Vikings (minus Forbath) by age on Dec 31, 2018: 40: Newman 35: Robison 31: Sendejo, Griffen, Sherels 30: Cousins, Joseph, Reiff 29: Smith, Remmers, Rudolph, Compton Smith's birthday is in early February. If the Vikings make it out of the NFC this year, he'll turn 30 just before the Super Bowl.

swede700
Quote One of the Vikings’ undisclosed injuries this spring has continued to keep safety Andrew Sendejo sidelined. Primarily rotating in his place have been Anthony Harris and Jayron Kearse, until Tuesday. The NFL’s eldest defensive back, Terence Newman, showed off his ability to play any position in the Vikings secondary when he took reps alongside safety Harrison Smith during the start of a three-day mandatory minicamp in Eagan. http://www.startribune.com/vikings-minicamp-observations-terence-newman-gets-reps-at-safety/485274991/ We already know that he can play safety in a pinch, but it'll be interesting to watch to see how much he does play there during the preseason. RpMc
I’d rather keep a 6th receive/linebacker or 10th DL over 4 TEs

Cousins has an affinity for the TE position, so I'd definitely keep 4 TEs...but I'd be tremendously surprised to see them keep 10 OL. I expect them to keep only 9. With the new kickoff rules, they'll likely to need to keep a 6th LB/WR over a 10th OL to play STs.
Krauser
They need a backup X / split end WR. Last year they had Michael Floyd. Can't have 2 slot/flankers (Wright, Coley) as the only backups. Zylstra and Robertson are the main options this year. They don't need a 4th TE just because of Cousins. There aren't enough snaps to go around to dress more than 3 TEs for any given game. Keeping 4 only makes sense if the last guy on the depth chart is going to be a healthy inactive. That might happen if Conklin doesn't earn playing time in front of Bell, could roster him as a redshirt rookie. 10 OL is probably overkill. If Compton is worth keeping for veteran depth and positional flexibility probably best to choose the best 2 from Isidora, Gossett and Collins to keep for long-term development purposes. I don't know which one to drop, so I kept 10 OL last time I did this, but after preseason it should be clear who the best options are there. Still don't expect them to keep David Parry. They don't really need a dedicated backup NT who'd only play 10 snaps a game or less with everyone healthy, and won't contribute on special teams. Jaleel can rotate to NT occasionally to give Linval a breather, and hopefully the nickel DT depth is better this year with Holmes so Joseph won't have to play on 3rd downs. If there's an injury, they can sign a Parry-quality player off the street or a practice squad, which is where Parry's been for the last year anyway. swede700
While they don't need a guy like Parry, I kept him on the roster because all indications seem to be that they really like him and were very impressed with him during OTAs and the minicamp.
