Yeah I don't see us drafting a guy with our premium 2nd rounder when we can draft another WR or OL to help Dak. Or another RB to replace Zeke. Or another CB.

If the NFL is stupid and lets Will Grier fall to the 2nd, I'd be finding a way to steal the draft card Ocean's style and put his name on it. But if we're being realistic, I think TE or DT will be priority number 1.

Speaking of DT, this DL class is stupid good. We should still be able to get a difference maker there in the early 30's. But man, I wish we had our first rounder to grab one of Quinnen Williams, Ed Oliver, Raekwon Davis, or Jefferey Simmons.

I know, early...but...

Assuming we re-sign Lawrence & Irving and sign Earl Thomas...then draft:

2nd Round: Noah Fant TE, Iowa
3rd Round: Dalton Risner OL, Kansas State
4th Round: Terry Beckner, Jr. DT, Missouri
4th Round (comp): Marquise Brown WR, Oklahoma
5th Round: Max Scharping T, Northern Illinois
7th Round: Alijah Holder CB, Stanford

How would you guys feel?

Haven't really watched many of them yet, but I think Fant in the 2nd and Brown in the 4th (or also the 2nd) would be a pipe dream at this point.

Honestly, outside of Fant...I think the rest of the picks aren't very realistic. Why I don't like using first-pick.com but my upcoming edit on my 7 round mock is a work in progress.

So would be getting Shcharping in the 5th. He he is more like a 2-3 prospect.

Something seems up with Noah Fant. Not even the most productive TE on his own team and not playing a ton of snaps.

I haven’t done a ton of research yet, but it’s very perplexing. Anyone have more insight?

It is a pretty big talking point here as nobody really gets it, but here is what has been floating around....

1. Hockenson is the more complete TE. I don't believe anyone would argue this. Fant is more athletic, but Hock is no slouch and a far superior blocker.
2. Ferentz recently labeled Fant a "specialist". Nobody really knows exactly what that meant, but all agree he's a play maker.
3. There is apparently a tweet out there from Fant's brother that says something along the lines of Noah being unhappy with his use. That will simply never, ever fly with Kirk Ferentz. He basically hates all social media and playing anything out on that front is a big no-no.
4. I've heard Fant is a bit arrogant/immature.

My guess is 3 and to a lesser extent 4, are where the vast majority of the issues are for Fant. That said, I would expect him to see more action moving forward.

If Grier falls to us in the 2nd round, we’d be idiots to pass on him. This is not the same Will Grier who played at UF.

And, a lot of people are talking about Christian Wilkins potentially falling to the 2nd round due to the depth of this class. I’d snag him in a heartbeat.

Just spent a little time watching Kaden Smith. :x

Yes please.

He’s a talented kid. Fant and Hockenson will get most of the attention from scouts and analysts, but Smith is a really good pass catcher himself.
