I'm not in favor of trading high picks for a Cooper or Peterson. We're the youngest team in the NFL, not in win now mode. You may say that Cooper is still young, fair. He's also had plenty of questions with effort. There's gonna be enough adversity that there's no doubt he'll encounter the same frustrations here he's had in Oakland. If you can get him for nothing higher than 3rd round picks, sure, make it happen. But this team is in a development stage. Many of us were hopeful for a playoff run this year. Today was a wake up call. We just aren't there yet. At the same time, Baker needs help and we may not be able to wait for the offseason to address it. But I'm not in favor of sacrificing long term success for a quick fix. We've come this far, we need to do it the right way.

Great post. We need patience to build a dynasty. I think we have the right GM and qb. Let’s finally do this right. I’m still predicting 6 wins. I think that’s about right until we mature and add more talent next year and the year after.

@MistaBohmbastic only exception would be Patrick Peterson for a 3rd and BBC and a 5th or something like that.

Peterson is a baller, he would amazing as a no2 corner and we would have him for 2.5 seasons.

I understand the upside of having Peterson on this defense. He was my guy in that draft class. That being said, I'm not looking to be good for "2.5 seasons," I'm looking to be a force in this league for years to come. Once Brady retires, the league's gonna be up for grabs entirely. As I said, we're not in "win now" mode. This is why I'm so shocked the Bears traded for Khalil Mack and gave up so much. Their defense is great, but Mack will be past his prime by the time Chicago can even consider a legitimate run at a Super Bowl. We're in the same boat. Yes, we need to be willing to sacrifice some assets for some players who can make an immediate impact, but it's a balance. You don't throw away the future to sell tickets now, period. I'd rather our defense has some more struggles in the immediate future if it means better development for the future. This isn't a Super Bowl season, next year will be a success if we even make the playoffs.

Thanks, and absolutely. These growing pains are essential to long term success. We need a game like this to put us in our place, because we know the foundation is there, but we're not up there with the big dogs just yet.

And maybe it's just because I've spent hours upon hours already studying some of the prospects in this draft, but as I said in the prospects thread, it feels like the football gods are blessing us with a draft class that is LOADED with players in positions that we desperately need to address. Opting for a quick fix now and passing up this opportunity would be a complete and total Browns move of the past. You don't do it.

The only thing I might trade for is a receiver. We need to protect Baker.

I’ve been busy with work so I haven’t looked at any prospects in the draft. So I can’t contribute with that but I still don’t think we’re in a position to not draft BPA. There are still plenty of areas that can be upgraded. If there’s a stud LB there I’m not sure I’d hesitate.

I can't argue with adding a decent WR before the draft. Our current guys just aren't getting separation consistently enough. Higgins will be back in a month, maybe less. That should help some. They also won't struggle like this each week because it's not like they're matching up against a secondary/pass rush this good every Sunday. Still, it was extremely concerning today.

Not totally sold on the LB's in this class, at least in the top 15. I think it's gotta be either D-Line or WR in round 1, personally. Those are the strongsuits of this draft anyways, they'll most likely be the BPA when we're on the clock.

There's gotta be close to 20 WR's who'll be in this class that are all upwards of 6'2" with massive catch radii and big play potential. For starters, check out Kelvin Harmon. He's my absolute fave right now. Just put on a quick highlight, sit back, and enjoy the ride. Oh...and maybe keep some Kleenex handy

As far as wrs we were down to 2 healthy at one point. We just need depth.

I will check out Harmon when I can.

I saw Duke line up out wide several times, but no targets out of that position. I really think they ought to incorporate him as a hybrid more frequently. Baker did admit in his postgame presser that he was trying to force some throws instead of checking down. Duke made a couple plays on checkdowns for huge gains. I later heard Jerod Cherry talking about the importance of taking what the defense gives you. He was forcing some balls. That's a rookie mistake that he'll learn from. Watching SNF tonight, it's interesting to watch how many times Brady has checked down to his RB's. But that's smart football. Once the defense accounts for it, things open up down the field.

And you won't be disappointed with the Harmon highlights. I guarantee it.

BEREA, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns would have taken a quarterback with the 12th pick in the first round, but when Houston offered two first-round picks to move up, the Browns chose to trade down.

Had Mitch Trubisky or Patrick Mahomes been available at No. 12, the Browns would have drafted one or the other.

its just funny to think about how small the world is

if Dorsey doesnt trade him for KC is he on the team Dorsey eventually goes to, but instead they make the trade and he ends up drafting the player on the same roster. crazy

Good stuff, I agree.

I’m all for snapping up some talented players on the cheap, but Cooper is meh at best. Keep in mind he’ll be making roughly 14 million next season too.  He’s also not been a guy who’s been paired with an awful QB.  Carr has his issues, but generally speaking he’s pretty decent.  Good enough to get a proper evaluation on a WR imo.

I would be interested in Conley for the right price though.

@MistaBohmbastic@LETSGOBROWNIES Agreed with all that.

I think the only way we give a decent price for any vets is if we’re willing to extend them on the spot and see them as future centerpieces. I’m not sure Cooper fits that. Realistically, we’re trying to win this year, but you have to be realistic. Conley could be a low price, high reward guy where things may just not work out with Gruden. Young kid. Happy to invest low in a fresh start there.

Ok. Something has to be done about the OL. We’re paying Hubbard a lot of money to screw up protections and let our rookie get slaughtered. They need to put Corbett out there. The dude can play tackle. Put him on the right side at practice and see what happens. Our line is one of the main things holding this team back.
