I’d say as of right now everything is in play besides CB, WR, RB/FB, QB, and specialist.

Cant wait to watch me some college football!

I wouldn't take QB out of consideration. Hopefully the team is watching QB options closely. They do have a guy signed to start for the next two years after the draft but I wouldn't want to miss a franchise QB on account of Kirk Cousins.

I would love if the Vikings got Dalton Risner OG/OT Kansas State.  But he would be gone mid 1st to late 1st so might not be around when the Vikings pick.

I would also be super interested in either Jeffery Simmons Miss State JR late 1st, Terry Beckner Jr Missouri late 1st or early 2nd or better yet Youhanna Ghaifan Wyoming JR 2nd but might not fall that far.

Could also get a variety of DE talent, most of these guys would be around in the 2nd but some might be gone by the 1st.

Jaylon Ferguson La Tech
Austin Bryant Clemson
Charles Omenihu Texas
Corbin Kaufusi BYU RS JR
Ben Banogu TCU JR RS
Joe Jackson Miami FL JR

I agree safety might be the biggest need, Andrew Wingard Wyoming SR I really like and could be there late 1st but is more of a in the box safety and not as much of a coverage guy but really that could work potentially because Harrison can do both and Wingard could do both as well.

I also like Chase Hansen Utah but he is moving to linebacker and is big and physical like Smith was in college but will see how he plays at linebacker, I loved his size for a safety though.  I would love Robbie Grimsley NDSU at safety in the late 2nd or 3rd round maybe, he should have a really great year for NDSU and is a local Minnesota kid.  Probably could not get Jaquan Johnson but he is the best of the group and Taylor Rapp Washington JR is great in coverage no doubt about it.

Position need wise I would say it goes like this maybe

S/DE/DT/OG/TE

But still way to early to go after the 2019 Vikings draft when the final 53 man roster is not even determined yet.  As for Cousins will see how he plays this year, Solter could be our project guy for the future but who knows.  Maybe Cousins sucks and they will have to address the QB spot.  Finley is the most pro ready based on last year but that could clearly change.  Would not mind a project guy like Herbert but doubt he is around and again Solter might be the project guy for the Vikings future, will see.

Quigley's contract runs out this season I think. I'd look at that. Spielman is not afraid to draft specialists.

I agree. Personally, I was ok with the Carlson pick. He’s a weapon. And just might provide that game winning FG we really need. Happy to have him on board the ship ;)

The Vikings have had 5 first round picks during Zimmer’s tenure. As it stands it’s a 3-2 advantage for the defense. An even 3-3 if you consider what the 2017 1st round pick was used for.

They’ve had 4 second and third round choices each, and each round is knotted up 2-2 between offense and defense.

So, where is it a lock?

It was kind of a joke, based on my arguing for OL over and over.......

Who’s caught the eye of the GM?

Wow odd post, the guy obviously wants attention from Spielman and or a job or something.  Yeah a NFL GM might go to a college football game, so what.  It should and does happen basically every single weekend.  There is a ton of defensive talent on VT that is for sure, The Noles kind of disappointed I thought overall.  He is a "machine", no he is just doing what he is supposed to be doing.  PS I honestly believe some signings they make are not so much Spielman but it is more a Zimmer thing, Mike Zimmer likes a certain player and they get them in the draft or free agency.  Doubt they would have many of the great players they have now without Zimmer as the head coach.

Spielman, for certain, goes to some college football games, but I'd bet it's only a few.  That's why he has scouts working for him.  He's only going to go to a game if there are several important players/people there that he wants to see in person.

He'll be scouting a couple of Nebraska games, just because he's already going to be there

Maybe for the first two rounds, but all of those should be in play at some point in the draft.
