I hope all four of the major QBs go before 18.

As many linebackers, defensive ends, and wide receivers too.

That would be ideal.

QBs: Murray, Haskins, Lock, and I'm guessing Jones?

LBs: White and Bush

DEs: Bosa, Allen, Burns, Sweat, Gary, and Ferrell

WR: Metcalf

That's 13 picks right there and that doesn't include Williams or Oliver.

Would you have Fant in the same boat?

Yes, however, I tend to think that Fant should be a trade back later in round one, and then they might consider him. But if they'd consider him at 18, then yes, I hope he's gone.

we get it, man. loud and clear.

Strangely, nobody else mentioned any CBs as players they hope would be gone by 18. It seemed reasonable to add that perspective to the discussion. If that bothers you I am so sorry not sorry.

it was the petty and sarcastic nature of the post, you're better than that. that is, if 10 of the top 17 picks are DB's, then Spielman might consider other positions....

riiiiiiight, just maybe he would.

  • <face palm>
  • >eye roll>
  • <that kind of stuff>

In fairness, despite having a mediocre to bad OL, only 2 LBers, 1 safety they trusted, an injured RB, 2 WRs.....they took a CB. Oh, and they had potential aging on the DL that needed replacing.....and probably the same with a TE soon....

also in fairness, you need lots of DBs.....but maybe not in the first round year after year....

particularly in the cited scenario that 10 of the first 17 picks are already db's, that was my point. it was a very specific one, yours is more general in nature.

I'm all about BPA in the first round. If that player is Greedy Williams then take him. Would love for Ed Oliver to fall too.

Can he block?

I kid, but only a little.  If not an OL in round 1, it had better be an elite defensive contributor,  followed by OL in rounds 2 and 3.  Unless you believe Stefanski, Kubiak, and Dennison can improve a mediocre unit by adding nothing.

Rounds 2 through 7 should definitely be used to fill needs and depth. No problem with BPA in the 1st though.
