Hutchinson and Faneca will for sure get in and there are others in the league still. There's no guarantee...it took Russ Grimm practically his entire eligibility period to get elected. While I expect Faneca and Hutch to get there eventually, who knows what'll happen if there's a logjam at other positions. It should also be noted that neither Faneca or Hutchinson would have been available to the Vikings in this draft...Hutch was taken at #17 and Faneca was taken at #26. In fact, in the last 50 years, only 2 HOF guards would have been available at #30 if they were in this year's draft...Larry Allen and Will Shields (who I had forgotten). So, the expectation that you're going to get a HOF guard at the area we again expect the Vikings to be drafting in 2019, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. So, would you rather get that HOF guard or would you like the Vikings to put themselves in position again to possibly win a Super Bowl. The odds are likely you'll only get one or the other. In the great and glorious revolution to come, offensive linemen will be valued in the same way as receivers, DB's, linebacker and running backs! They will no longer toil and have their work go unnoticed and unrewarded! The uprising will happen, and the Hall of Fame will be full of worthy offensive linemen!! KeithVikings28
Safety Taylor Rapp from Washington is my favorite pick for the Vikings 2019 first round selection.

swede700
The draft appears to be top-heavy in defensive linemen again next go-around. The only offensive linemen I see listed in a top-32 from Dane Brugler are Trey Adams (Washington), Greg Little (Ole Miss), and Jonah Williams (Alabama). Hopefully, there will be some more guys that rise up over the season.
PrplChilPill
First round? Defensive player. It's a lock. Zimmer is a genius at getting his GM to select defense in early rounds. I'd like an OL, assuming Cousins survives this year, it would be great if he was upright next year also.
swede700
Glad to see you back around PCP... (this is disaacs if you didn't know, btw, since you weren't around for the name change).
PrplChilPill
I'll be here some, but moving away from MN has dampened my Vikings' offseason love.....but once the season starts, my youngest will text me during games and ask me if I'm watching.....and if I'm not hiking in the mountains, I will try to watch some.....I love their chances this year.

It's somewhat refreshing. For years under previous regimes, it seemed resources always went to the offense. Looking forward, OL definitely needs to be made a prority. Skill positions should be set on offense. I'd think we're pretty good at CB to not need another first rounder who knows with this team though. If MN loses Barr, LB could also be an option. Same goes for DT depending on Richardson. Edited August 21, 2018 by vikingsrule
SemperFeist
The Vikings have had 5 first round picks during Zimmer’s tenure. As it stands it’s a 3-2 advantage for the defense. An even 3-3 if you consider what the 2017 1st round pick was used for. They’ve had 4 second and third round choices each, and each round is knotted up 2-2 between offense and defense. So, where is it a lock?
NoDakViking
I could see one of the LBs if Barr is not resigned or franchised. Also Rapp or Jaquan Johnson.
JDBrocks
I want one of the Clemson DL in RD 1. Pipe dream at 32, I know...
Klomp
I think if anything would be deemed a possible first round need next year on defense it would be linebacker or safety

Don't foresee WR, RB, QB, CB or specialist in the 1st round.
