MWil23
In what turned out to be the most overblown feud ever, everyone loses in Coby Fleener's parting shots two years ago. I guess Coby was just "along for the ride" in New Orleans.
Forge
It cost the Saints 200K more to cut him than it does to keep him on the roster. When that happens, you are terribad.

Am I missing something? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/05/07/saints-release-coby-fleener/ Quote If the move is designated as a post-June 1 cut, the Saints will save $3 million against this year’s cap. If not, there will be $8.2 million in dead money this year.
Forge
Just now, navysaintsfan said: Am I missing something? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/05/07/saints-release-coby-fleener/ Nope. If he had stayed on the roster, his cap hit was 8m. If you cut him, the dead cap hit is 8.2. So it cost you 200K more to cut him than to keep him on the roster. You're just splitting it over 2 years with the June 1 cut. You're not actually saving anything in the long run, just making it more easily digestible by putting it out over 2 years rather than 1. berlin calling
you gotta be really bad if you cannot have a somewhat decent season in the Saints scheme and Brees throwing you the ball.
DingoLadd
I'd say he goes back to Indy but what would be the point given Luck won't throw it to him.
RavensTillIDie
I never thought he was particularly impressive at any point during his NFL career, but there were games (or moments in games) where he'd be lighting up the other team and looking like a legitimate threat. Just never seemed to consistently be on the same page with the rest of the offense though. He's still relatively young in terms of NFL years, so he should get picked up by some team. cddolphin
Quote Coby Fleener signed a 5 year, $36,000,000 contract with the New Orleans Saints, including a $8,000,000 signing bonus, $18,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $7,200,000. Everyone talks about the QB market, the TE market seems more out of whack to me. Just look at the list of top 10 TE contracts. Gronk, Reed, Kelce, Olsen, and then mostly doodoo. Quote Vance McDonald signed a 3 year, $19,650,000 contract with the San Francisco 49ers, including a $7,000,000 signing bonus, $9,100,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $6,550,000. Quote Kyle Rudolph signed a 5 year, $36,500,000 contract with the Minnesota Vikings, including a $6,500,000 signing bonus, $18,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $7,300,000. Quote Jermaine Gresham signed a 4 year, $28,000,000 contract with the Arizona Cardinals, including a $7,000,000 signing bonus, $16,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $7,000,000. And a lot of these contracts are being handed out before the production ever kicked in. Fleener is probably the best example.
