Phillies agreed to terms with RHP Hector Neris on a one-year, $4.6 million contract.

The deal includes a $7 million option for 2021, which is Neris's final year of arbitration eligibility. Even if that option is declined, the team would still hold on to his rights. Neris asked for $5.2 million in arbitration, while the Phillies submitted a $4.2 million figure. He's slated to remain the team's closer to begin this season.

Jon Heyman reported on this week’s Big Time Baseball podcast that J.T. Realmuto's agents want to top Buster Posey's eight-year, $159 million contract extension.

Heyman also notes that Paul Goldschmidt's five-year, $130 million extension has been a talking point for Realmuto's camp. It seems like a reasonable range for Realmuto to be seeking his long-term deal to land in, but it doesn't sound like he and the Phillies are anywhere close to an agreement. Realmuto will make $10 million in 2019 and is currently set to hit the free agent market next winter.

5 years brings him to age 35, would be worries to go any longer with a catcher.

Not that I want this delay in the slightest.... but what timeframe would McCutchen and some of the bullpen guys be fully healthy?

Nick Wiliams was so promising and so disappointing

Hamels and Diekman for Jorge Alfaro, Nick Williams, Jake Thompson, Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff, and Matt Harrison

Giles and Arauz for Vincent Velasquez, Mark Appel, Thomas Eshelman,, Harold Arauz and Brett Oberholtzer

Jimmy Rollins for Zach Eflin and Tom Windle

Marlon Byrd for Ben Lively

Papaelbon for Pivetta

Revere for Jimmy Cordero and Alberto Tirado

Utley for Darnell Sweeney, RHP John Richy

Was this the worst rebuild of all time? Most players were complete busts. Other were handled very poorly by us and were later busts. A few still hanging around

sounds like we wont talk in season about an extension.  i still think they knock out a deal tho, esp with the Dh Presumable in the nl for atleast the next 2 seasons

Almost all mlb trades results in the team trading for the proven playing getting the better deal. Prospect success rate is abysmal.

Its not that we did not get the better player. We got absolutely nothing in return...

Nice of the Marlins to bring COVID with them and still beat us.

well yeah thats how those trades usually work out. Team A gets MLB player and Team B gets nothing.
