Why they announced Kendricks as a starter baffles me because I think with our LB crew that should have to be earned, we aren't starting scrubs at those positions. Maybe it was helpful in getting him signed, not that it makes sense announcing it after the signing unless they promised that to him before he signed. I think it was miscommunication with the press. What the quote said was actually “he’s going to start out at” which could be taken multiple ways.

Not saying he shouldn't start depending on circumstances, just the fact that it was reported that he would did seem off and I'm glad it was more of a miscommunication than fact, would have seemed to be a slight negative towards our current starters to say that to the press before he ever suited up. Baker is legit Myles is legit denzel is legit Njoku is legit Peppers is good. Landry is Landry for his contract. Bitonio and Zeitler stay healthy. Duke's Duke. Larry O and Brantley develop. That is the core for a fantastic team imo if we can keep that group together for 4- 6 years it will be off the frickeeen chart.

What a massive error in judgement to take an All BIG middle linebacker and make him an OLB. I know it has been done before, but when it becomes apparent that your switch isn't working, why keep him there? One of the first things that Gregg Williams did was correctly move Joe back to his natural position of MLB - and the rest is history.

This year is so different for me because I am actually not upset to hear that high-round rookies are not beating out vets. Coleman, for example, is a talented player who I think will end up winning the LT spot, but that does not make the Corbett pick a bad pick. He gives us immediate depth and constant pressure on the starters to play well because he can play anywhere across the line. This same concept holds true for Chubb, Ward, Mayfield, Thomas, Callaway, etc. They are all great talents added to their position groups. For the first time in a while we actually are 2-3 deep at multiple positions. The internal competition happening at practice has to be 10x what we have had since we've been back. The hope is that the young guys that have showed some flashes start to flash every play and the rookies continue to put pressure on them to succeed and be hungry to see the field as well. ILB in a 3-4 is a lot different than a 4-3. You want a major thumper for ILBs in the 3-4. Joe isn’t a thumper. He would of gotten eaten alive being a 3-4 ILB. He is better suited as an OLB in a 3-4. In reality joe is your ideal 4-3 mike LB. IMO that’s why he looks so good. He is back to his natural and best position.
