These 5 point guards are all very good in their own right. I think that Bullard is the best of the bunch, and at 19 I think he's my favourite. Dame is a lengthy good Center. He's not great at anything, but at 20, he probably will be. Overall this isn't a great class, but there are some nice players.

This season is going about how it was expected to. I am a bottom 5 team, and thankfully the Knicks are hanging out down here too. The Pelicans underperforming and could net me a 3rd lottery pick this year.

Time to see what a contender will give me for Enes Kanter (please)

I went back and forth on offering Siakam a deal, but at the end of the day it's only 2 years. I'm sure that Victor Trent will start at the 4 next year, but Pascal will provide some depth off the bench. Malachi and Frank Jackson are youth depth.

The one thing that's irked me so far (not you, but the game). The ages of the top prospects are unrealistically old.

Yeah man, that's why I always accept the 18 year old entry rule when it comes up. Hopefully we get it this year

Here are the results of the season. I ended up finishing strong (or weak if I wanted to win), and the Knicks stay a bottom 10 team. The Pelicans went on a winning streak and found themselves in the playoffs, so I'll have two lottery picks, one with T3 odds. That's good enough to add one of those PGs or the good looking Center prospect. There should hopefully only be one more bad year :)

Now, this is very interesting. McKnight led the team in scoring which I'm thrilled about and I guess not shocked, but I'm pretty happy that he led all rookies in scoring. SG is usually the position I have the hardest time falling in love with because it's easy to find a good shooter in the middle of the round, but McKnight has the athleticism to hopefully stick around.

Victor Trent was 2nd on the team in scoring coming off the bench, which is awesome. Pending this draft he will be starting next year and hopefully we see his numbers continue to improve.

In the end this is a bad team and it's time to move on to the off-season to inject some more young talent.

Playoff Note

The #2 seed Warriors beat the #3 seed Bucks 4-1 in the NBA Finals. Steph Curry was the MVP with 35ppg, 6.8rpg, 9.4apg, and 2.6 steals. He shot 50% from 3. Can't wait to watch them tumble

Draft Lottery

These are the top odds for the lottery

Yes, that's right, the Blazers have three lottery picks in the top 7. Unreal

The picks hold all the way to the top 3. The 3rd pick goes to... Atlanta! That means I'm in the top 2. 2nd is... the Blazers, and so I have won the lottery, wooo!

Here are my picks currently:

I will definitely be picking 1, but I'm going to see if maybe I can move up from 10 with one of the later picks.

No dice. I don't want to surrender my 2021 1st round pick since it will likely be a high lottery pick again, and all the offers centered around that and McKnight who is untouchable at this point. I'm going to enter the draft and see where we're at after a few picks to see if a trade is worth it.

I have the first pick, and really this pick is down to two players.

4 PG KRIS BULLARD 19 6006 6008 211 MICH STATE 75 A-
6 C PATRICK DAME 20 7000 7005 285 TEXAS TECH 69 A

Bullard is clearly the best PG in my eyes. He has 90 speed which is the lowest of the 6 point guards in the top 10, and he's tied for the lowest playmaking score, but he has the size and shooting I want from my 1. He's also only 19 which means he has plenty of time to grow in the areas he needs work in.

Then there's Pat Dame. He is the prototypical size for a center with a long wingspan. He is actually a pretty weak defender, but again he's only 20. I know I can't go wrong with either of these guys, but in the end..

I can't resist taking the point guard. It's my favourite position to user so I really want a guy who fits my requirements, and this year I had a crop to choose from. There are 2 players with A+ dev so if Dame makes it to 4, I will try to move up for him.

  • And Dame goes 2 to the Blazers. boooooo
  • At 3 the Hawks take Alexey Jennings, which was what I expected.

Now, I am not interested in moving up for the other A+ prospect, Jerome Mullin. Even though he fits a position of need, he is slow, he is a mediocre shooter, he has poor shot IQ, and he is poor at defense. He has all the potential in the world, but the groundwork isn't there for me. If he was faster I would definitely consider it, but in the end I don't want someone at the 3 with sub 70 speed, and he doesnt have the interior game to play him at the 4.

  • SG Oscar Hunter would be a great scorer off the bench, but again, he has 62 speed. He is a statue. I would consider him at 10, but I assume he will be gone by then. I am going to stay put and see what comes to me.
  • The Kings stay at 4 and take Oscar Hunter. Okay, enjoy
  • PG Timmy Chapman goes to the Blazers at 5. They are going to have a really deep program really soon.
  • The Kings just traded up to pick again at 6... it has to be for Mullis I would think... and it is.
  • The Blazers at 7 select PF Rudolph Patterson. He's not on the board, but someone I was considering at 10.
  • C Bullard goes 9 to the Celtics.. honestly a blessing. I was leaning taking him at 10, but drafting two players from the same draft class with the same last name would have been a nightmare. He is a raw prospect with good potential and size.
  • The Bulls take PG Gabriel Eisley at 9, and I'm on the clock. I'm going to review the trade offers I have, but likely pick.

Well... I have a VERY intriguing trade offer from the Clippers. They are offering me Center Fred Coleman, 72 ovr, who they drafted last year 1.6 and a 2021 2nd (who cares) for my pick 1.10. I have been mulling this one for 5 minutes. Coleman has very good potential [89] and the size I want [7']. He needs some work, but with that potential and at 23 years old, this is a tough decision. He was an All-Rookie 1st Team this year. Here are the prospects I would consider taking instead of making this trade

I'm not even going to list the PGs because I'm not taking a second one in the top 10. That doesn't leave much.

10 SF WIL JAMESON 24 6009 7001 236 VILLANOVA 72 B-
16 PF STAN HICKS 21 6010 6010 247 GONZAGA 69 B
23 SG NATE GREEN 21 6007 7002 218 LOYOLA 70 B

I would probably take Jemeson if he wasn't 24. He's got a decent offensive game, but with the low potential and his age he doesn't have a ton of room to grow. Hicks is kind of raw and he pretty much a defense only prospect. Green is interesting. The guy is pretty slow, but he has the best shot left that I can see. He would be a solid bench player down the road.

In the end, I think my best bet here is taking the trade from the Clippers. It gives me a big that I need for this rebuild and I didn't have to trade up for him.

Not a hard decision here. Anunoby is still my starting SF. He's cheap and he's young. He is one of the last surviving members of Ujiri's Raptors. I still hate that he has 0 badges, that's pretty stupid for how he actually played in his real rookie season.

Again, just filling out some roster depth

Obviously Terrence Ross is a must sign as a Raptors fan.

Junzhe Su was in this draft class and was drafted in the 2nd round, but not signed. He is 22 years old with B potential, and has 7 badges including Charge Card, Defensive Stopper, Pick Dodger, and Rim protector. This imo is a very good pickup. I will develop him on the bench for a couple years and he will be a great situational defensive player for me. He even has low 70s on short, mid, 3pt shots too. I am really happy with this signing

Bellamy is just another young guy with decent potential that will be a career backup, but at this point he will be a reserve.

Again this year I am giving bench minutes to the youth. I'm not happy making VV ride the bench, but it doesn't make sense to play him over Frank Jackson who has developed to his equal and is 4 years younger. I am not looking to trade for any more draft picks unless I am moving a player + a pick for a pick. We'll see what the CPU offers me. If anyone is going to be moved, it would be Kanter or VV, and depending on my record, Anunoby because he is looking for 20 million in his new deal and there's no way I'm giving a player with no badges that much money. All of those players are in the last year of their deals.

Pretty dumpy draft class. Since I picked #1 last year, I can't have a pick in the top 3 this year. If I do, I will just trade it for #4. I'm not too upset about that this year.

  • Most of these guys have good speed, including PF Haynes. He'll likely be 24 when he's drafted, but that 80 speed, A potential, and decent mid range game makes me happy

Contract Extensions

POSITION PLAYER OVR AGE TERM VALUE STATUS
PG FRED VANVLEET 78 26 2 MIN SIGNED
SG MALACHI RICHARDSON 77 25 - - NOT OFFERED
SF OG ANUNOBY 81 23 - - NOT OFFERED
PF PASCAL SIAKAM 79 26 - - NOT OFFERED
C ENES KANTER 84 28 - - NOT OFFERED

I wasn't planning on keeping Freddy, but how can I say no to min salary. I've drafted SGs in back to back years, so I don't need to keep Malachi. We went over Anunoby, he wants $20M and I'm not paying him that. Pascal is a JAG and he has stayed past his welcome. FInally, no deal for Kanter because I am going to try to move him. Depending on the teams record at the trade deadline, all of those players who weren't signed are on the block.

Honestly I thought my team this year was better than last year, but I'm 4 games behind where I was last year, good (bad) enough for the 2nd worst record in the NBA. The Spurs are hanging on there in the west.. good thing I got three 1st rounders for them in a row.

Let's see what trades are available out there. I'd like to grab another pick this year, either giving up the Spurs pick or one of my four for next year.

JBURGE how do you make all these tables. Seems like it doesn't take you incredibly long.

I have a google sheets open in a separate tab. I just re-use them year to year. Here is the link for those interested

It makes this much easier to do and saves a lot of time, but it is a nightmare trying to read it on mobile
