He's going to be a solid pro and excellent special teams guy, but I'm not giving him a 1st round grade. Nobody in their right mind should. I think he's at best a 4th round pick. The thought of him going in the top 30 seems laughable.

elite athlete, very well rounded.

Will Tranquill or Coney have the better NFL career?

Probably Coney. I think he's got more of the prototypical build and you know what you're getting with Coney. He wins in ways that translate in the NFL more than Tranquill does. I like Tranquill, but more as an undrafted free agent for depth than a future starter. Coney is a mid round selection that could become a starter eventually. I don't think either is destined for great things in the NFL, but both will be on opening day rosters methinks.

I'll have to watch some more of him. I've heard this from multiple people now.

Nah. You're right about him, dude. I saw some comparisons to LVE, and he's not that. LVE was an insane athlete on film who was a disruptive force downhill. He displayed every trait you could possibly want in a LB at a high level (even if the consistency wasn't always there). Cashman looks like a solid mid-round pick. I like his take-on ability, and he's a good athlete. But he doesn't strike me as a difference maker. He doesn't have the special traits where it counts. He strikes me as a guy like Zach Brown, more of a clean-up specialist.

In all seriousness though...what the heck happened and who nuked this LBer class in a bad way?

The Devins being so rabidly pursued just made me go back to some things, and honestly...it makes those reaches seem a lot less insane.  It's those Devins, then Cashman, then Mack Wilson...then honestly a whole ****load of late round/UDFA fodder basically.

Like...if the draft were done by birth years like the NHL...i'd honestly wonder if some sort of wild cosmic event had altered all the babies to be terrible LBers or something.  But idk...it's just wild man...

This is an overstatement. It's a weak class, but there are a few players on Day 3. Like any Day 3 player, you just need to put them in the right situation for them to succeed.

Is it an overstatement though?  I honestly have only found 3-4 LBers who seem worth a Day1/2 Selection.  Who am i missing?  I'd be stoked if i were missing somebody, but it just...yuck.  Who are the good Day3 LBers i should get excited about?  Because i've got a friggen dump of them i've just unloaded there because i don't see real starting NFL tools+instincts combo.

I'm honestly just angry, watching guys with tools run on the completely wrong side of plays.  Guys without tools get washed completely out of plays because they're slow and weak.  It's bad man.  It's a really frustrating thing, and it shouldn't be.

Germaine Pratt / 6’2” 240lbs / North Carolina State

Vosean Joseph / 6’1” 230lbs / Florida
Te’Von Coney / 6’1” 234lbs / Notre Dame
Terrill Hanks / 6’2” 242lbs / New Mexico State
Ben Burr-Kirven / 6’0” 230lbs / Washington

Jahlani Tavai / 6’2” 250lbs / Hawaii

All I think will be mid round picks and be good players in the league.

Some people like Coney, Pratt, Tavai, and Okereke. Personally, I like David Long Jr., Cameron Smith, and Ben Burr-Kirven in the right roles. With Long Jr., you need to put him in a chase role where he can attack the ball. He won't fit in a scheme that asks him to play disciplined and read and react. He also should be a dynamite special teamer (which makes a big difference on Day 3). On Burr-Kirven, he's a clean-up specialist. He won't make a lot of splash plays imo, but he's a guy who will offer a lot of range and constantly be around the ball due to his hustle and speed. With Cam Smith, I see a guy who is solid in all aspects of the game. Should contribute on special teams, and I think he can start at Mike or Will. He won't be special, but I see a guy like James Laurinaitis. Steady, reliable, and intelligent player who will show up and do his job.

Khalil Hodge and Sione Takitaki also intrigue me, but they fall into the late round or UDFA designation. Hodge is a terrible athlete, but I'd give him a chance to see what he can do due to his play recognition skills, instincts, and intangibles. Takitaki lacks consistency at this stage, but he's flashed all the ability to be a very intriguing 3-4 ILB.

Honestly, i think the 6th and 7th best LB prospects in this draft, don't even play the position.

Malik Carney, UNC.

Sutton Smith, Northern Illinois.

I like Carney more as an EDGE. D'Andre Walker is actually a guy I think who could do quite well as a 3-4 ILB. I don't like his pass rushing potential on the edge, personally.

As legit starters?  Or just...play?  'cause that's a big distinction with LBers especially.

Some of those guys will definitely play.  As WLB coverage specialists like Pratt.  And as Speedy guys who will find a way like Vosean.  Beyond that though...this is honestly the first time in a long time i haven't just been overflowing with LBers i thought deserved a shot as a STer PSer.  It's just wild for me.
