He's in the promotional material and he's going to be named with the members of the class. They just aren't devoting anytime to him at the ceremony. Nobody should have an issue with this. This event is for celebrating the players and having personal friends and family watch their loved one getting honored and having a significant person give a speech about them and letting them thank the people who supported them. TO felt like he didn't want to do that. That's his choice. Everyone should move on at this point. He's doing what he wants, they aren't going to skip a beat with the ceremony for the players that are there. No big deal. He's in the Hall, he's getting his bust, he's getting his jacket. Kip Smithers
People just think that this could be just resentment towards voters. Let’s not forget that current members of the hall have criticised him and deemed him not worthy. So I have no issue with him giving them the finger. Nabbs4u
That's exactly what the HOF should do. Absolutely no issue with it what so ever. Hopefully they ship him his jacket after the ceremony, not before. Less time I'll have to wait for the Brian Dawkins speach! ?
Incarcerated_Scarface
I don't have a problem with this, why should they put on a presentation for a guy who doesn't want to be there. He still gets his bust and gold jacket. He's in, he just won't get to watch himself get announced on TV during his party he was going to have. Why should everyone there watch clips and hear someone speak on behalf of someone who isn't even attending? TO was wrong for this whole thing and one day he's going to regret being a part of it. Sugashane
I think he feels like he was blackballed. Let's face it, he was old but still put up over 900 yards and 9 TDs on a crap Bengals team. He completely outperformed Johnson but Johnson got a call from NE (and was abysmal). Even at his age he was still an above average number 2 and would have been a top number 3. Granted, even if his last few years in BUF and CIN weren't volatile he still had a lot of negative attention following him from his career in SF, PHI, and DAL. Physically he might have been able to hit 42 or so and be productive like Jerry Rice, he was just in amazing shape and had an elite work ethic. If he doesn't want to be there then why should they devote time to him other than that? He made the choice to not go, he's gonna have to live with the being in the Hall but not having an induction. Exactly. We're not talking about a member being inducted after passing away. There is no obligation to show a montage for a player actively deciding not to attend. It's not petty, it's appropriate. If He wanted recognition, he should of attended. Instead he's getting exactly what he wanted all along. The Conversation all about "Him" and not the actual "Class of 18". Which is unfortunate for the rest.
