JammerHammer21
Teams can now play freshmen at any time without having to worry about eligibility. Big news.
ramssuperbowl99
tbh Nick Saban's press conference is going to be tremendous. An 800 year old demon is going to whine because the kids he greyshirts the day before NSD aren't going to have to tell him before they leave. Dope. They still have to tell them, so they can be marked as basically A free agent but coaches no longer can block a kids transfer request. Thought that was one of the dumbest rulea allowing coaches to block a kid from going some where

Should eliminate some players from transferring from their teams for lack of playing time. Kinda makes the FCS games bigger because you can play your freshmen in them and see what they have. Absolute facts, you probably will see them both early and late in the year, some early might show that they aren't ready and redshirt, and some later in the year who are coming on and play late in the year into bowl games without opposing teams having any significant film on them. That would be huge for a guy to play well in a bowl game and still get a redshirt year.
MWil23
Great time to roll out those youngsters for a game or two at the beginning of the year against cupcakes, and at the end of the year during bowl season for some momentum heading into the following year, especially with so many top tier draft kids sitting out bowl games now (Peppers, Ward, Fournette, etc.). I really like this move.
buno67
@MSURacerDT55 @MWil23 bowl games should absolutely not count as a game of experience for redshirts. Should of been the way before even this new rule existed. Should be four games during the game and post season games. If they play more than that then they burn the redshirt
Danger
Does the 1 year requirement of the transferring player still hold though?

Yes, because that is separate from a Redshirt. A Redshirt is a team's/program's decision. The 1 year transfer rule is an NCAA bylaw/rule.
