2018 Expansion Draft - Colts

One Punch Man

Recommended Posts

Imagine a new team is being ushered into the league. Every team has to pick 5 players from its roster. Designated players will be pooled (32 teams, 5 players each for a total of 160 players) and be made available to the new team via the Expansion Draft. From the total pool (and current list of Free Agents), the new franchise will pick (or “draft”) a full 53-player roster for the 2018-19 season.

Typically, teams offer up players they’re actively looking to get rid of (declining performance, age, salary).

Designation Rules:

No kickers and punters.

No players set to become free agents.

No players who just spent an entire year on injured reserve.

Only one player with 10 or more years of experience.

That being said... What 5 players would you offer up for the 2018-19 season? Why?

We have no issues with the cap, Ballard has been constructing contracts where there are no guarantees after the first season (case in point when we cut Hankins there was no dead money).

We have a decent amount of players who are on 1 year deals (RT Howard, RG Slauson, RG Mewhort, WR Grant, etc) or entering the final year of their contract (SS Geathers, DE Hunt, DT Woods, CB Desir)

DE/OLB John Simon - defensive front line is congested not a 4-3 LB fit. (He did finish the season on IR [shoulder] but has been fully participating in all practices this off season )

OT Le’Raven Clark - hasn’t taken advantage of the opportunity at RT. No better then a depth tackle at this point.

OG Joe Haeg - see Le’Raven Clark but replace tackle with guard

DT Hassan Ridgeway - could be on the roster bubble if he doesn’t get in the rotation at 3Tech or NT

S T.J. Green - hasn’t developed enough to warrant any confidence with the team
