FWIW. I am guessing they'll be 10-6.

It's how I'm leaning as well - anywhere between 12-4 to 10-6. Packers are good, but so are the Vikings, and Chicago is poised to take a significant leap forward with Nagy and Trubisky. You also can't count out Detroit if Stafford catches fire early.

If Rodgers is healthy I would be surprised if we split with Chicago. They have made big improvements and they are in the right direction, I just don't see it this year with them.

It's going to take Pettine some time to fix Caper's joke of a defense.

The Packer should easily make the playoffs, and have a legit shot to win the division too, but being the best team in the league this year is asking for a lot.

The thing is, Green Bay's defense doesn't have to be great for this team to see great strides. Our defense for the past how many years has been atrocious. It can't possibly get any worse. Getting just average play on the defensive side of the ball will be all that Rodgers and the offense needs to be in the mix for that #1 seed. It doesn't need to be Vikings or Jaguar caliber. Just somewhere in that 11-16 range. Given Pettine's track record at every stop, I don't think it's outlandish to see him getting the unit into that range this season

I wonder why everyone thinks this?  Is it because of what happened with the Rams last year?  New head coach, 2nd year QB, and we're just supposed to expect them to be good all of a sudden?

I can't remember the last time Chicago was good.  Not saying they'll be awful.  But I doubt they are a factor next year.  Green Bay should have no issues taking both games from them.  I do like some of the players Chicago has drafted the last 2 years.  Tarik Cohen and Eddie Jackson were favorites of mine in 2017.  And I loved Anthony Miller in 2018.  However, like the Cleveland Browns, I think they are a year away from being a factor.

Anyone else feeling like the Packers are gonna have a monster 14-2 type season this year?

Don't know that I'd bet money on it, but I can easily envision it, yeah. They've had a great off-season, and Rodgers should be healthy again.

Because they also had a very good off-season, in which they addressed a lot of their problems? Because a lot of people suspect Trubisky will end up being a good quarterback?

It wouldnt shock me if the Packers did have the best record in the NFL. I dont think they will though. I understand they go better on defense and on offense they are getting back ARod, but please tell me the last time the Packers had the best record in the NFL? Could they be like the Saints were last season? Yes. The Saints defense was terrible and then they rebuilt it in the draft to have a strong defense playing with a young secondary in 2017. With that being said, the Saints till went (11-5) finishing 4th in their own conference. Thats with the Saints having a better oline and running game than the Packers will have. Thats with the Saints having the DROY and OROY. Then you factor in the Eagles, Vikings, Saints, and Rams didnt get worst this offseason. I personally think the Eagles, Vikings, and Rams all gotten better. The NFC as a whole will be very tough. In order to have the best record in the NFL the Packers will have to be at least (13-3) and I dont think that will happen.

This kind of sums it up for me. I liked Trubisky a bit last year leading up to the draft, and I think they've done a pretty good job in putting up a good OL in front of him, as well as giving him some good bodies to throw to as well as hand off to. The defense has always been steady, and I think increased output from the O will position the defense to look better as well (protecting leads, longer drives, not too many short field situations, etc).

I'm not saying that the Bears are gonna win double digit games or anything like that, but I could see a series split between the two.

Perhaps, but I don't think it's going to be easy as you think it will be.

So, I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but Chicago essentially went down a "what does a good offense need" checklist this past offseason.  They wanted to get younger on their offensive line, so they let Josh Sitton go and drafted James Daniels.  They had the worst receiving corps in the league last year, so they went and signed three guys and drafted a fourth who provide highly complementary skillsets.  A speedster in Gabriel, a physical possession receiver who can make the tough catches in Allen Robinson and a route running specialist in Anthony Miller.  And that's not taking into considering the TE's they have now.  I didn't like the Adam Shaheen selection one bit last year, but after signing Trey Burton, the Bears reliance on Shaheen's development has essentially evaporated.

The only weaknesses I still see there are at right tackle, a big issue at edge rusher and a Los Angeles Chargers like preponderance of injuries year after year.

Their off-season IMO was just okay.  They signed a number of average free agents.  And in the draft they were hit and miss.  I didn't like the selection of Roquan Smith in the 1st round.  He was one of the players I thought was significantly overrated in this draft process.  However, I did love the pick of Anthony Miller.  He was my #2 WR prospect in this class after Antonio Callaway.

I guess the main reason I'm not that high on the Bears is because I don't believe Trubisky will be an elite or close to elite QB.  I see him more in the Mariota/Winston range.  Average to Above Average starting QB in the NFL.  And in a good year with really good talent around maybe he can lead his team to the playoffs.  However, I don't see a franchise caliber guy that I would be willing to bet on moving forward to being a guy that lead his team to the playoffs perennially.
