DeMarco Murray announced his retirement after seven seasons.

A third-round pick of the Cowboys in 2011, Murray was one of the most productive running backs in football during his prime. The former Oklahoma Sooner earned three Pro Bowl nods over his seven seasons and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2014. He led the league with 1,845 rushing yards that year while leading Dallas to a division title. Murray probably could have continued his career as a backup—the Dolphins, Saints and Seahawks were among teams interested in him this offseason—but ultimately the 30-year-old decided to hang up his cleats. For his career, Murray totaled 7,174 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns (49 rushing, six receiving) over 99 games for Dallas, Philadelphia and Tennessee.

That dreaded 30 year old age marker for running backs claims yet another one.

With that being said, it'll be interesting to see if being a former Offensive Player of the Year, first team All-Pro, and multiple Pro Bowl bids is enough to get him into the Hall of Fame. One negative working against him is the relatively shorter career compared to most Hall of Famers.

The second best running back in Eagles history behind Frank Gore. He was an absolute monster during his time in Philly and certainly earned every cent of that paycheck.

Still have my Gore Eagles jersey

When the decline happens for punishers who run upright (Eddie George), it comes quickly.   This was extensively discussed when he was released - last year’s film said he was done (ThuNF madden cam showed it in spades).  It was eye opening.

Its rare to see athletes see the fall coming.   At least Murray gets a gig right away.  Wish him well dude was a warrior in his prime.
