Sucks that Sparano passed. Notable coach in the league. Despite his limited success as head coach, he came off as someone you always wanted in the foxhole with you. Maybe the Vikings can rally around his spirit this year. Yup. Very sad for the Sporanos, heart goes out to them. I am also very concerned now about the o-line. He really turned that unit from terrible to servicable last year, and they didn't exactly add any talent. Hopefully they rally, like you said, and hopefully his replacement can step up to the plate. We surely need it!
vike daddy
The Vikings today announced that Friday’s training camp practice has been canceled so the team can attend the memorial service for Tony Sparano, the offensive line coach who died on Sunday. Sparano was heading into his third season on the Vikings’ coaching staff, and he was much loved by his players, as evidenced by the many statements that have come out from players in the two days since he died. The Vikings’ players and coaches will be together for his funeral. In lieu of flowers, the Sparano family asked for donations to the American Heart Association. The medical examiner listed heart disease as the cause of Sparano’s death. Fans who had tickets to Friday’s practice will be contacted by the Vikings’ ticket office. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/07/24/vikings-cancel-friday-practice-team-will-attend-tony-sparanos-funeral/

vike daddy
The Vikings were among the 250 people who honored their assistant coach’s memory during what was described as an emotional funeral service. Sparano, who had coached the Vikings offensive linemen the past two years, died Sunday from heart disease. He was 56. Rex Ryan: “He was a great coach and just a hell of a person. He was my kind of guy. He was a tough ***, but he was just special. He had a great rapport with his players. You knew what you were going to get from him. He was an honest man. Just a great coach.” Vikings owner Zygi Wilf, General Manager Rick Spielman and coach Mike Zimmer were joined at the service by the rest of the team as well as Ryan, Saints coach Sean Payton, Rob Ryan and many of Sparano’s former players. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/07/27/tony-sparano-remembered-for-being-about-faith-family-football/
