ramssuperbowl99
Good for him. He's got basically no guaranteed money on his deal. Get paid.

He signed a deal a few years ago and his guaranteed total money is 47/71 MM He took most of it up front. If you don't like that then he should have explored other options. Unless it's a matter of a Rookie deal, I usually can't sympathize with players like this. You signed the deal, if the FO doesn't want to renegotiate that's on you and your agent. cddolphin
Sometimes I'm not the most sympathetic towards hold outs but Julio's contract should be addressed NOW at age 29. It may not be the best football move but it's the smartest business move.
cddolphin
I just saw at overthecap.com that Jarvis Landry currently has a higher annual average than Julio... talk about market inefficiencies!

You mean the contract that says "if you don't come to training camp, pay some fines"? If the team really wanted him there, they shouldn't have signed a contract that let him pay fines instead of attending. Works both ways.

Absolutely, however no one forced him to sign the contract so obviously he was fine with it. 100% of this is on Julio. If you don’t like the terms then don’t sign and take your talents elsewhere. This is what he chose now he has to honor it unless the FO decides otherwise.

Except one was signed 2 years ago the other this offseason. No reason for ATL to move on this and no reason Julio shouldn't hold out for a new deal. ATL already said they will talk next year. Both sides are doing the right thing and this will all blow over soon once we get close to the start of the season when Julio reports. He's not missing game checks and he already has great chemistry with Ryan so it won't take them long to get back in sync. Probably best if he sits out and is healthy for both sides. Yeah, because the contract let him hold out. Which he's doing. 2 minutes ago, dtait93 said: This is what he chose now he has to honor it unless the FO decides otherwise. He is honoring the contract. Has he sued the Falcons to not pay the fines his contract mandates he pay for skipping or just refused to pay any of the fines? Has he sued the Falcons petitioning that the contract be voided and he be made a free agent?
flyguy1609
hes going costs himself in fine for not being there... he signed this contract Aug 29 2015 Signed a 5 year $71.256 million extension with Atlanta. he should have known the contracts were going go up. Atlanta said they'll revisit the contract after this year.

He just shouldn’t have a problem with what he’s being paid or for being fined because that’s what he chose. End of story.

And the front office shouldn't have a problem with him not attending because they gave him the option to not attend and paid fines. ILoveTheVikings
What a bum. You signed a contract only a few years ago.
