Interesting.

Pinion is a Baalke holdover and former 5th round pick who hasn't quite lived up to his draft status. I mean we cut a all-time Niner great in Andy Lee because of Pinion and Lee went on to have a better season that year, elsewhere. But Pinion was solid last year and his trajectory seems to be pointing upward but a little competition never hurt anyone.

The kickoff rule change also hurts his value.

Jeff Locke is a left-footed punter and was signed to be a camp leg to help returners practice fielding punts off of both a left- and right-footed punter. This is pretty standard practice for most teams.

Interesting. You'd think that by now they'd have machines that could simulate right or left footed punts.

Being a camp leg is like the greatest job in America. You spent like 2 months punting or kicking in beautiful weather making over $500,000 and meeting NFL stars. You could definitely make a living out of just being a camp leg.

Never had a coach that has been so insightful to me as Kyle is. The way he speaks really resonates. Just doesn't seem like a phony. Same with John. Dudes both seem on the same page. Glad these pressers are back.

Yeah it is a joy to watch/listen to those pressers. Have to say the Robert Saleh pressers are a joy too. Really feel if our defense improves and our team gets more succes he will get some serious looks as a HC.

Not really. Most get a $0 signing bonus and first year players get ~$150 per diem and vets get $225 per diem. Therefore, Jeff Locke will probably get paid about $6K for his training camp leg. Locke's salary is completely unguaranteed, so he won't see a dime of it. (This is all assuming he doesn't beat out Pinion.)
