Our first preseason game is Thursday so I guess we'll see for our collective self how well LVE is doing...... hopefully we get to anyway

Wonder if any of the local bars will have it....

According to the writers at dc.com the standouts at camp so far are:

#1. Byron Jones(has apparently looked like the prototype Seattle Seahawks CB all camp.)

#2. Demarcus Lawrence (has reportedly looked even better this year than he did last as he is gearing up to make a big payday next off season. He ran through a drill where he went down the line facing all 5 starters on offense in a 1 on 1, and won most.)

#3. Tyron Smith (Has looked like his old beast self. And aside from a few battles with Lawrence has smothered everyone in 1 on 1s.)

#4. Zack Martin (They have Martin ranked at #4 behind Tyron, but admit he should be higher. He hasn't lost a 1 on 1 battle yet. Even getting the better of Lawrence apparently. It doesn't appear his money changed him.)

#5. Chidobe Awuzie (Has been a blanket in coverage against all the WRs he's faced, and along Byron Jones has really given the offense problems.)

Other notes:

Connor Williams has been reportedly "holding his own," in 1 on 1s.

Tavon Austin is not a RB, and has seen way more action running routes down field than he has taken handoffs.

No mention of LVE to continue the trend.

Overall it sounds like the offense has really struggled in camp. Of course, that applies mostly to throwing the ball, as these practices don't allow Zeke to go full Zeke. But aside from a few nice moments from Dak just recently, it hasn't exactly been great for the offense.

Michael Gallup may not be the game breaker everyone is dreaming up. Not to say that he is struggling. He isn't. But I feel some fans may be disappointed with what they end up getting from him. He isn't going to be the flashy star WR that makes ridiculous catches with his size or blows you away with his speed. I think he might be more of the crisp route running, makes solid catches in the short to intermediate range guy. Nothing spectacular. Just solid.

Well at least the running game will look good.

Strange that there has been no mention of LVE yet. That's not normal to hear no news on a first rounder. It should be one of the headlines of camp whether he is doing bad or good.

And I believe Lee has been limited in most activities. So he should be getting opportunities.

I'm ready to see him in preseason. I'll never forget Sean Lee's rookie preseason. He was a man amongst boys. I knew right away we had something special in him. 14 tackles and 2 sacks in limited action over 3 preseason games.

Sean Lee 2010 Rookie Preseason: 14 tackles and 2 sacks

Luke Kuechly 2012 Rookie Preseason:  17 tackles and 0 sacks

CJ Mosely 2014 Rookie Preseason: 12 tackles and 1 sack

That's 3 REALLY good LBs averaging about 14 tackles and 1 sack during their respective rookie preseason campaigns.  If you want a metric.

Then of course your 2016 guys. Derron Lee, Reggie Ragland, Jaylon Smith, and Myles Jack who all collectively didn't really play.

We have drafted 3 LBs in the last 8 years who were all first round prospects with the latest of them being picked 55th overall(Sean Lee). We also toyed with Rolando McClain who was drafted ahead of Sean Lee in 2010. So 4 LBs drafted 55th, 34th, 19th, and 8th overall in the last 8 years; 3 of them still here, with only two real LB spots to fill. WE BETTER BE FINE.

It seems some of you are worried about the lack of reporting on LVE. Think about how training camp practices are run.

No tackling.

Predominantly technique-driven.

The only thing a LB can really do is be in position in these types of practices. Today in the Blue/White “scrimmage” they are going to run 8 plays with tackling in a goal-line drill. That’s the closest thing we can use to assess the LB Corp besides games.

Collins was rightfully so left at RT...assuming he takes the next step, what do think Dallas does with him? He's still got 2 yr left on contract, just curious what you all think.

Depends where we’re at near the end of his contract.

If he shows any sort of consistency and improvement this year we may as well try and lock him up and not wait on it. RT's aren't a premium. But players with Collins type of talent are.
