damn. was he going to start at T or G?

No. He was likely just the back up this season with Trent Brown and Cannon locked in at the Tackle spots.

This is a devastating injury for an undersized tackle but still a large human who relies on his quick feet.

Must be nice to be able to draft for depth in the first round. >:(

Didn't the Raiders essentially do the same thing in the eyes of many when they selected Kolton Miller? I thought most Raiders fans thought Donald Penn would stat at LT and RT would sort itself out because it wasn't that bad last year. Either way, I didn't think the Patriots needed to take Wynn this year and I was disappointed initially with the pick, (although he seemed like one of the most talented offensive linemen pound for pound). This is really disappointing news about Wynn. Hopefully he is able to make a full recovery but Achilles tears are usually harder injuries to come back from than most others.

Not to derail this thread, but RT was definitely not good last year and is arguably our weakest position on our team. We drafted Miller to be our LT and LT only. He has played a total of 1 snap at RT to this point. The coaches have gone on record that they will not be moving him around. We actually have tried Penn at RT since he has come back from injury and might be looking at a OL of Miller-Osemele-Hudson-Jackson-Penn.

Anyways. Good thing you have two viable starters at T and didn't have to rely on him.

Wasnt exactly the case after Solder fled for NY, nor even heading into the draft as we werent sure what we had with Trent Brown. He has gotten rave reviews in camp however, and seemingly Wynn had no chance of dethroning him before week 1.

hopefully this doesnt affect him long term. those can be tricky to come back from 100%.

Especially on bigger guys like Wynn.

Bright side is at least this isn't a more life threatening condition like with Anthony Garcia last year. Garcia also had wuestions about keeping weight on his frame unlike Wynn who is more stout. Wynn also was drafted two rounds ahead of Garcia so he should be able to come back next season available and ready as a reserve to start if needed.

Really, really sucks. With Cannon’s durability concerns, there was a real possibility he’d start games at right tackle. Plus with Shaq’s status, he could be counted on at guard come next year. Just really sucks.

Pats are just lucky Brown has looked good at LT so far. Knock on wood.

FFS, can we please just draft a player that stays somewhat healthy and/or doesn’t grade out at average at best?

Literally who was our last 1st Round Pick that was both good and healthy for the majority of the time?

Devin McCourty and Nate Solder. Honestly, Belichick has been trading his first round picks for most of this decade lol
