It's 6 weeks from the date he is placed on IR...which brings him back on Oct 14th so perfect time to get him back after the bye week.

He can't be put on the PUP list. Players can only be on the PUP to start the season IF AND ONLY IF they started training camp on the PUP list. Remember, a good example of this is Chris Williams. Everyone and their mother knew he had a back injury, but they let him practice instead of putting him on PUP, and he reinjured it in his first practice and he was done. A player placed on PUP to start camp can be taken off whenever he passes a physical, but if he remains on the list at the beginning of the season they must remain there for at least 6 weeks. IR to return candidates must be on the active roster during the year (AKA after final cuts) and then once placed on IR are there for a minimum of 8 weeks. Players can begin practicing before coming of IR (like KF23 2 years ago) and once they start practicing they have a 3 week window to either be activated or placed on IR for the rest of the year.
