Vikings kicker Daniel Carlson was a perfect seven for seven on kicks in Wednesday’s session, the first time the rookie has kicked in front of the media since the team released Kai Forbath on Monday. Carlson, who wears No. 7, made a pair of 33-yard extra point tries and was also successful from 37, 40, 42, 45 and 49 yards.

Carlson did not get a chance to attempt the extra point after the Vikings’ lone touchdown of the opening half. Instead, coach Mike Zimmer decided to go for two after Latavius Murray’s 1-yard touchdown run but Kirk Cousins’ pass was broken up by the Seahawks.

The assumption was that Zimmer wanted his offense to work on two-point conversions but he said in his postgame press conference that wasn’t the case. So why did he hold Carlson off the field. “Just to let him know that if he’s going to miss field goals, I’m going to go for two,” Zimmer said.

Priefer:   “He [Carlson] knew what he did on the first one and yet he came back and did it again on the second one. That was obviously a concern and that’s something that good kickers in the National Football League don’t miss two in a row. They don’t. They’re going to miss one and then they’re going to straighten it out and come back and make the next 10. That’s what a good NFL kicker does and that’s what he’s got to figure out and I’m going to help him in that regard. I didn’t get mad at him, I didn’t scold him, I didn’t get ticked off. I just said, ‘Hey, you’ve got to come back from here on out.’”
