Yup, Marcus was playing for the first down to extend the drive, CD was playing for the touchdown because the safety was busy taking himself entirely out of the play. If it calls for an in, that's what CD needs to be running. LaFleur's offense is built on timing.

horrible throw either way davis runs the route its behind & low

If Corey is supposed to cut to the crossing route 2 yards sooner than where the ball arrived then the pass is on target. CAn't really call it a horrible throw when you don't actually know where Corey's route was supposed to break in to a cross.

Not really. If Davis makes a sharp cut at the 36, It's a pretty easy completion. This entire offense is about Mariota throwing to spots and trusting that the receiver will be where they're supposed to be.

as an aside, roethlisberger has had an obscene amount of time to throw the ball. secondary has gotten beat a few times but played relatively well considering the total lack of help they're getting from the front 7.

That’s dumb. Receivers get hung up all the time with screens and trips. You don’t just blindly throw at a spot and “trust” they be there. A great QB can realize a stumble in a route and adjust his throw accordingly.

The entire offense is built around timing. I don't really know what you want me to say. Read up on what the Rams asked from Goff last year.
