vikingsrule
Does this mean anything for Andrew Sendejo. Not sure if this is actually an upgrade or what the plan is now.

I think the team stopped retiring numbers, instead choosing to induct into the team's ring of honor. The team last retired a number in 2003, and has been inducting into the ring of honor since 1999. Makes sense too. It'd be difficult to create a 90-man roster in training camp with six numbers already retired and probably another handful or two that could be. You'd have to go to the college numbering system and duplicate numbers on offense/defense, but I don't see the NFL doing that any time soon. DoleINGout
Totally makes sense with the Bengals/Mike Zimmer connection.
INbengalfan
Solid signing for the Vikings. He played well under Zimmer the short time both were in Cincy. Still kinda shocked they cut him. But given the kind of guy Iloka is, they did it now to let him catch on somewhere else. I figured it would be either the Vikings (Zimmer), the raiders (Guenther) or the Broncos (Joseph). Yeah but it's still kind of odd because even then most teams won't reassign a number of a player that will almost certainly have their number retired at some point, even if it isn't official. vike daddy
Zimmer: "This wasn't a move to replace anyone, it was a move to get more good players. We are fortunate to have him. He's a really smart guy, takes good notes, he knows what I look for. He'll know 85% of our playbook."
