NewAge
Just wondering if the new forums will take over the base URL of the old forums? I'd bet a lot of ghost/infrequent users have the old website bookmarked and will, by default, now be showing up to the defunct site. Would it be possible to make it so those bookmarks now send you straight to the new forums?

No. It would require deleting the old forum and losing all those posts to do so. The effort to move the database on the old forum and remap everything would be a huge undertaking that likely would just corrupt data rather than actually work. All forums should already, or will in the coming days, see links pop up as the most recent thread, linking people to the new forum. There's already a banner at the top of the site linking to the new forum on every page. A large portion of those guests are also bots that scrape for data and not actual people reading the site. Some sites are rebuilt on Archive.org this way, even sites that are no longer operating. There's a couple forums I used to frequent that are now offline that are on there.
