lomaxgrUK
That Raiders clobbering we received looks worse each week. Such a bad, bad, bad performance from us.
thebestever6
Anyone shocked how well Hurts played against the Saints? That was stoubt against a Defense that's been dominant the last four weeks.

That was stoubt against a Defense that's been dominant the last four weeks. Not really, PHI called a RPO heavy game plan, and NO wasn't quite ready for his & Sanders' speed. That's always the problem - you think you know their speed, but until you see it in-game, D's are caught off guard. The real issue was NO's game plan on O was awful - they weren't ready for PHI to go zone-heavy, which led to short drives, and then PHI got to wear NO 's D down. Plus the TO's. NO with Taysom is a frontrunner team - they can lean on the run game and wear other D's out, and let their D dominate. Asking them to catch up, though, and it takes away the advantages Hill presents, and exposes his flaws as a passer. The same holds true for PHI & Hurts. He was OK as a passer - but that's also all they needed. It didn't take long for GB to realize they just had to limit Hurts to the pocket - 2 drives. Then they showed how limited Hurts is as a pocket passer. You can do that with a 2+ score lead. When you're behind, and PHI is grinding clock with their run game, it flips the script completely. The other advantage is that it uses their best weapon to have fewer eyes on him - Miles Sanders. Again, that becomes less of a factor when you're behind, but it's a perfect script playing ahead. germ-x
The Raiders have spent a bunch of capital on their DBs and they’re still awful.
germ-x
Mariota has made some terrific throws and plays in this game.
broncosfan_101
Anthony Lynn still having a job is absolutely stunning. Whatever you feel about Vic’s shortcomings as a game manager, he’s not even in the same universe as Lynn.
germ-x
Hahaha and now Jon Gruden......how in the hell do you run a play in OT to outright win the game and use the hands down best player on your team (Darren Waller) as a blocker? Ran out 3 TE’s and the only one not to run a route was the 6’6” 250 pounder, with 4.50 flat speed and a 37 inch vertical.
germ-x
Gruden deserved to lose this. Runs a pass play in the red zone and uses the best player on his team to block. That’s over coaching. That’s getting cute. That’s settling for a FG.
germ-x
The refs throw a flag on Kwiatkowski for hitting Herbert in the head. Don’t throw one when Renfrow got knocked out cold on the exact same type of play.

Whatever you feel about Vic’s shortcomings as a game manager, he’s not even in the same universe as Lynn. I've posted as much in the "Lynn should be fired" thread in the Main Forum, and when his name came up earlier as a good HC - he's not, and it's frankly not close. While Vic's a bottom 5 game manager IMO with Gase/BOB gone but he's a whole tier or 2 above Lynn. Lynn did the following tonight: -Called for a punt on 4th and 4 at the LV 42 with Herbert 10-for-11 at that point (and the 11th was a drop). They got an 18 yard net. -Somehow got the same Herbert, who was torching the Raiders pass D - to throw the ball ONCE in the 4Q. ONCE. Oh yeah, the Chargers had 1 24 yard run by Ekeler late, but had 65 yards rushing on the other 28 carries. -Played for the FG TWICE in the 4Q with run-run-pass sequencing that the Raiders D could sniff out the 3rd down pass. And oh yes, the K missed both times. Which makes the 2nd decision (when BTW a 1st down would have allowed them to run out the clock and then go for the W, instead of having to sweat the Raiders driving to the LAC 45 and then whiff on the FG attempt themselves - point being it was completely unnecessary). The Chargers got bailed out by the curious 3rd and goal call (after Jacobs slipped on 2nd and goal) with a short-field 3-TE....pass to the FB. Gruden basically said "hold my beer" to Lynn. That forced LAC to have to score 6 - otherwise, we'd probably have seen Lynn play for the FG again (LOL). But they really won again this week DESPITE him (like last week vs. ATL, where his 1H game management cost them 3, if not 7). It's going to be tough next year if Lynn is fired (which he really should be 1st on Black Monday, even before Gase). LAC with a good HC and Derwin James, Melvin Ingram (likely re-signs), a healthy Bosa and Herbert in Year 2 is going to be downright scary with KC & LV. Their remaining games are against us and the Chiefs. If they lose both, they’ll have everything you just mentioned, plus a top 5 pick. We should consider starting Hinton at QB for that game...
