Is it more that we could use Morrow as the 3rd down specialist with Whitehead. That roster spot and money could be used elsewhere ? DJ isn’t going to play STs so needs to be a significant upgrade in coverage to be worth a roster spot. I like Morrows potential tbh.

DJ is making this team. By all metrics, he was near elite in coverage last season and still has a lot of savvy in terms of reading qb's eyes in shallow zones.

Make no mistake, he signed with us because he was promised a role that is well deserved. He signed with us over other teams because he can still play. DJ is 10000 times more proven than Morrow. I haven't seen anything from Morrow that says he deserves to be the starter on passing downs.

Morrow has "potential" because he can run and he's young. Potential doesn't mean much. He could turn into a bust this year for all we know. Obi had "potential" too.

DJ is proven and his instincts are very good. Week 1, if we want to win football games, I can't see an argument for Morrow getting snaps over DJ.

Here's a great example. With DJ we won't have lapses where the back is uncovered or any of that garbage. He's reliable.

I am obviously not disputing what Johnson has done in his career I am more interested in what he can do going forward. As I said if he’s a significant upgrade then I have no problem, but tbh I haven’t seen anything in pre season to suggest that he is going to be.

Not sure that video is a good example, he looks confused, laboured in his backpedal and isn’t undercutting anything as he’s beat already when he flips his hips.

You don't understand the coverage. He's playing shallow zone. How is he "beat" on a throw travelling 10-20 yards down the field? This is also in slomo. He looked plenty fast on the field.

You haven't seen anything to suggest that Morrow is a significant upgrade, or even an average linebacker in this league.

He has also barely played snaps in the preseason. Last season was plenty good enough for me to see him have a role.

The claim is that he was undercutting the crosser when the reality is that the crosser had passed him when he had turned. Not too difficult to understand.

I haven’t seen anything from Johnson in pre season to say that he is worth taking snaps off Morrow imo. Like I said Johnson needs to be a significant upgrade to be worth paying, at this point I’d rather save the $1.7m.

Noticeably Johnson didn’t grade out well against the Packers either.
